The Daily: May 13th, 2021

Today has been a strange oasis of calm. The phone rang only twice and the e-mails were only the expected ones. There was no trouble. No trials and tribulations. I’d like to say it was relaxing but it felt almost as though I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Not that there really is another shoe. It is just that this week was so slammed that it feels like there ought to be. The calmness was strange.

Which probably says a lot more about me than anything else.

Still it wasn’t a gym day so I got my walk in which wa nice. There were still large puddles to dodge and the creek that runs through the park is still at capacity, but the path itself was unflooded. It was actually cool enough outside that I had to wear a sweatshirt when walking. It was just a light zip up hoodie but usually by this point in may I am spraying myself down with sunscreen and sweating in a t-shirt.

Of course the weather is also why I haven’t done my summer restock yet. There are things I purchase every summer and I just haven’t gotten around to them yet. I suspect that the cool spring is going to linger until the end of the month and then June will hit with a hammer of a heatwave and I’ll be stuck. I am definitely going to have to think about summer orders this weekend.

I am also going to have to trim my bangs this weekend. They are very much out of control, as you will see in the picture below. I’ll be honest, I’ve resisted trimming them because I haven’t dealt with the eyebrows and the bangs help cover the eyebrows. It’s like a strange domino effect. I’m leaving my eyebrows so I can go to the threading place and have them properly done again so I haven’t trimmed the bangs as they need to be. But because I haven’t trimmed the bangs, I can’t really see how bad the eyebrows are until I take the photos so I forget to make an appointment.

I suspect as soon as I trim my bangs I’ll immediately feel the need to make an appointment. I just hope they’ve reopened. I thought I saw a sign out but I’m not sure. But if they aren’t then it is me and the tweezers for a while. Because they have to be tamed into some sense of shape. Regardless here is today’s look:

Lip: Colourpop Disney Villains Dr. Facilier

The Benefit Porefessional is definitely the primer to wear with this foundation, and while i usually put the primer mostly across the areas with larger looking pores, this time I also added a little extra to the fine line areas around my mouth and eyes and I think that really helped. Like spackle on the walls of my face.

The Patrick Ta Blush worked beautifully and I am very happy to have it in my collection. It is still a little early for the Too Faced bronzer as it is more my summer shade but i picked it up just to see. It will look better after a month or so when my skin shifts into summer tones.

The MAC Studio Fix is a product that has been around for a long time, but you know, it is a good steady product to have in your makeup arsenal. Sometimes I think I get distracted by the new and tend to forget the steady and good. This powder is definitely a good steady.

And yes I broke down and opened another one of The Feathers from Pretty Vulgar. I originally bought it because the packaging was just too pretty to resist. My superficial ways were rewarded because it was just a fantastic mascara. When it went on sale last fall I bought a couple of extras and stashed them away. I looked at the mascaras I had open and couldn’t resist opening this one up. I’d feel a little bad about opening a new one, but I just finished two, am getting ready to send another to the Empties bin and have one open that is just blah. So I was going to open another mascara soon anyway, why not make it one I already know i love?

Speaking of love and products I’ve bought more than once, today’s lip was from the Disney Villains collection. I bought a trio, used Dr. Facilier down to a nub and then bought two replacements. I never know how long they are going to keep a collaboration live. They had a collab with Safia Nygard and there was a color I really wanted but it kept selling out before I could get to it. Now I think it is gone forever. Since I actually used one all the way down I felt okay in ordering two replacements. And truthfully I am halfway down on this one as well. While not my favorite Villain, it is a fantastic neutral shade on me and each time I put it on I wonder why I don’t wear it more. possibly it is the lip prints. It does tend to leave them on my coffee mug, but the color is still nice by lunchtime and only needs a touch up for the afternoon. When I went to get the link for the above listing I found that they no longer listed the lipstick which made me very sad. I suspect that it has been discontinued. It does make me tickled with myself for having picked up an extra when I did. It gives me time to look at other brands and compare as I try to find a color that is comparable.

But that my darlings is me for today.
