Advent Calendar: Day 25

Day 25: PMD Clean Mini

PMD Clean Mini is a smart facial cleansing device that combines SonicGlow™ Technology and a compact design to deliver results on-the-go. It has four customizable modes and a brush optimized for all skin types.

And here my darlings we have reached the end of the 2022 Look Fantastic Advent Calendar. (and Christmas. Have a happy one for those celebrating.) I am tickled pink with this PMD Clean Mini. I love that they wrapped up with a skincare tool that can be used for a long time to come in the new year.

I will admit i have an ulterior motive for ;loving that this device is in here though. Earlier this year my mother had had an operation where her right hand was removed due to Cancer. (the operation was successful, the cancer is gone and she is healing and adjusting well). One of the things she was having difficulty with was washing her face. she felt like she was missing spots and then she had product all over her hand when she went to reach for the faucet or the washcloth and it became a bit of a mess for her. I had one of these PMD tools so I brought it down for her. She didn’t know if she would like it so I told her it was a loner and that if she liked it then we could get her one to use.

She just wasn’t sure she was going to like it and didn’t want money to be spent on something she wasn’t going to use.

Which is understandable.

She ended up loving it. she could apply the cleanser to the damp head of the PMD tool, thus keeping her hand from being slick and covered with cleanser. She could easily wash her face and loved the vibration settings of the tool. she felt it got her skin clean and basically she loved it. I brought it down for her in September and when we were down in November she asked if she could keep it until she got a new one. I told her sure and by then I already knew one was in this calendar so we are going to do the switch and she will have the nice new pink version while I take the older one (which is dark blue) back. She has already made me show my godmother how to change the batteries so that when they eventually die they can be replaced.

So I am thrilled by this PMD tool in my Look Fantastic Advent Calendar. Not only is it a great way to end an advent calendar, it is an item that is especially useful at this time of year. which makes it utterly fabulous.

And so my darlings that was my twenty five days of Advent. Personally I really enjoyed looking at the advent calendar this way. It let me look at each item individually and since i knew I had more than the value i paid with the two items I really wanted as well as something fabulous for my mom, I didn’t have to worry about the value of each item and could just take them for themselves as a nice little gift each day. I hope you enjoyed this as well. Merry Christmas.

Advent Calendar: Day 24

Day 24: The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% HA

If you have sensitive and easily irritated skin, the idea of using alpha hydroxy acids for exfoliation may be a dream. This is where The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% comes in. Ingredients in this product like glycolic acid offer up incredible cleansing powers that remove dead and dull skin cells to uncover smooth and radiant skin underneath.

Because acids such as this can cause irritation to sensitive skin types, The Ordinary has introduced mandelic acid into their unique formula. This provides a much gentler solution that absorbs into the skin slowly, gently peeling away dirt and dead skin to better suit a sensitive complexion.

The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% offers up superficial dermal exfoliation that is gentler than other alpha hydroxy acid alternatives. Continued use of this formula will leave skin smoother and clearer whilst adding a healthy glow to your complexion. Also included in this ingenious formulation is hyaluronic acid, a hydrating agent that adds extra comfort to the skin whilst reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

The Ordinary is another one of those brands that is on my list to try. Partially because it is inexpensive skincare and partially because it is also supposed to be really good skincare. I don’t mind paying extra for good skincare but if I can get good skincare for less, i am all for that. And you know i love a good exfoliation. From the description it sounds as though this is a nice and gentle chemical exfoliator. Oh I can not wait to try this one out. That is certainly on my new year’s to do list. but as for now….

Happy Christmas eve everyone. I’m off to watch my nephew play a camel in the nativity play. It is far more exciting an endeavor than usual this year because he recently learned that camels spit. which should add an interesting dimension to the evening. I’m sitting next to his parents and will get to hear the prayer, ‘Please don’t let him spit in church’ for the length of the play. Should be fun. Happy Christmas!

Advent Calendar: Day 23

Day 23: ESPA Optimal Skin Pro Moisturizer

Powered by vibrant nutrients that balance the complexion — offering a fresh burst of moisture to brighten and hydrate skin. Long-lasting hydration is on tap for thirsty skin with this revitalising, lightweight daily moisturiser. This supercharged formula smooths the appearance of dehydration lines, leaves skin feeling softer, and visibly more radiant. By harnessing the potency of natural fruits and vegetables, this long-lasting hydrator brings a youthful glow, fights signs of premature aging, and quenches skin with succulent vitality.

This was the second product that made me purchase this advent calendar from Look Fantastic. The first was the Christophe Robin Scalp Scrub, but this was a very close second. Every product i have tried from ESPA I love. Each June for my birthday I treat myself to a selection of their products and give myself an at home spa experience and it is glorious. I am also a huge fan of their facial exfoliator. with as many of their body products that I have tried, I haven’t tried that many of their facial skincare. I have really wanted to give one of their moisturizers a try. And now I have the perfect opportunity. Plus there is something just super fabulous about opening an advent calendar drawer and finding a full sized moisturizer from a brand you love inside. I know my nephew is arguing that chocolate is so much better as he is currently shoving today’s advent calendar bite of chocolate into his mouth. While it is hard to argue with his enjoyment, for me, this ESPA moisturizer beats his little chocolate Santa. I can’t wait to try it out.

Advent Calendar: Day 22

Day 22: First Aid Beauty Bump Eraser Body Scrub

A body scrub that sweeps away dry, rough bumps associated with KP, strawberry skin and booty bumps to reveal healthier looking skin that feels exceptionally smooth. Safe for sensitive skin, this fast-acting body scrub uses Glycolic & Lactic acids, at a combined level of 10% AHAs, to help resurface skin’s top layer + Pumice to physically exfoliate, helping improve skin’s texture and smooth away bumps, roughness, and scaly areas, also known as chicken skin + buttne.

I’ve revieved this FAB product before and I will admit that the first time i saw it, I thought it wasn’t for me. I don’t really suffer from the chicken skin problem so I thought I would pas it on, which I did. Then i got a second tube and thought, okay, maybe I should try it. So I did. It is a fantastic exfoliator and skin conditioner. My favorite use for this is actually just prior to shaving my legs. Using this body scrub to exfoliate my legs before shaving gives me the smoothest shave ever. As I will be wearing more dresses in the next few weeks (into February) than I have for the past few months I am very happy to have this around. It is also good if you plan on self tanning your legs. Use the scrub, shave your legs and then post shower, use the self tanner. it just makes everything apply so much better.

The Daily: December 22nd, 2022

This my darlings is going to be short and sweet. there is no makeup today because I actually achieved my work goal and am not going to have a normal day. I am going to be running through the house making sure everything is nice and tidy before i leave for the holiday. I will be washing sheets and making sure the laundry basket is empty and the bathrooms lemony fresh.

It is less because we are going away and more as a personal treat for when we get back.

But as I will be running through the house there is no need to look pretty. the hair is tied up and the work waiting. When i am done there will be a shower and then packing.

I’m fairly certain after packing there will be something i missed and have to go back for. I suspect it will involve the dishwasher. It usually does.

but what that means is no makeup, and almost no desk time. I am off. I will post the skincare tomorrow before I leave. Mostly because we aren’t leaving until lunch time. There will be no face mask and no daily posts next week but the best of lists continue. i don’t know what you have planned but i wish you the very best of it for this holiday season. I will be back on Thursday so Friday we will be back to normal just in time to kiss the last of this year goodbye. Merry, merry my darlings.

Advent Calendar: Day 21

Day 21: Disciple Gua Sha

Disciple Skincare Gua Sha

Okay I tried to find this but the only Diciple Gua Sha I could find was made of obsidian. The one in this advent calendar from Look Fantastic is a biodegradable one. And I couldn’t find it anywhere. According to the booklet sent with the advent calendar

Wellness Wednesday is here. Disciple’s biodegradable and plant based face massage tool helps sculpt and firm the face releasing areas of tension. Made from pure hemp resin which imparts anti-inflammatory microparticles onto the skin with every use.

I like gua shas actually. I have two that I use routinely, one is rose quartz and one is obsidian. Both work well and ar great tools for helping to depuff and shape my face. Like any skin care item you have to use them regularly and as soon as you stop using them your sculpting efforts fade away. They are great tools. I’m not really certain about this hemp based one. It may be shatterproof, but it feels like plastic and it came out of the package already scratched up. I also already have quite a few of these so Another one is not really something I need. I suppose I can throw it into my purse to use if I end up getting stuck somewhere and that somewhere feels like an appropriate place to use a gua sha. it is not my favorite item in this box and to be honest it is the first item in my advent calendar that I am not really happy with. Although as we are on day 21 that is a no

BOGO Valentine's Day Special

Advent Calendar: Day 20

Day 20: Zelens Tea Shot Urban Defense Serum

Defend skin from the effects of urban aggressors with the Zelens Tea Shot Urban Defence Serum. Rich in antioxidants, the highly concentrated serum is formulated to provide skin with protection from daily stressors and pollution.

The formula is infused with a blend of five types of tea, including green tea, matcha green tea, white tea, black tea and kombucha, and fermented black tea. It helps to moisturise skin while targeting the visible signs of premature ageing.

I am strangely excited to see this serum included in this Look Fantastic Advent Calendar. I have heard a lot of good things about the brand Zelens, specifically the Tea Shot, but I have never tried anything from the brand. I am always happy to try out new skin care. And if it is anti-aging skincare, even better. At this time of year i always find I feel a lot older than at other times. I think it is because i end up having more conversations with teenagers at this time of year. Not only do I learn a host of new vocabulary words but i get called ma’am far more often than at any other time of year. Always fun. So two thumbs up for anti-aging skincare and a product from a brand that I have wanted to try for a while.

The Daily: December 20th, 2022

And so the week rolls on. We are a little over cast today which just makes the cold feel even colder. Or perhaps it is just the damp. Today I actually manage to take the time to to a little indoor workout. I’ve been slipping for the past little while because there have been just so many things to get don. And then so many things happening after work hours. we are normally not this sociable. There might be one night out a month but come December we seem to turn into social butterflies. it is exhausting. My mother has always had at least one thing a night. Growing up I though it was just because my brother and I had things going on and she just rolled them in, but even now she schedules one thing a day and claims she cut back. She is far more social than I ever will be.

I tend to get together in person with friends once a month. It helps that most of my friends live elsewhere and we just get together on the phone or electronically. But honestly once a month is a social enough outing for me. I think the social isolation almost killed my mother. As soon as it was even partially safe she eased back into being social. which all her friends did actually which is why they were all infected at more or less the same time. But you can’t control anyone else’s actions. Everyone takes the risks they are comfortable with. And to be honest I have a very definite social threshold. I like people, to a point, and then I’m good with staying in.

My mom still has a hard time fathoming the fact that I am not as social as she is so she thinks me not going out a lot is me being extra cautious. It’s kind of fun actually. Before everything hit I got together with people once a month. Now two years and one vaccine and three boosters later, I get together with people once a month in a well ventilated space. It isn’t caution it is my normality. Since she went from getting together with at least three groups a day (she is retired so she is no longer confined by work hours) and is now cautiously back to one group gathering a day. She is stunned.

I love my mother but we often look at each other in mutual incomprehensibility. I am very much like my father. We are both willing to mingle and spend time with friends, but we both like our alone time. I suppose it is on my mind because I spoke to my mother this morning to confirm travel plans. She asked what was going on and I told her about all the things we were going to this week. She was so pleased we are starting to get back to normal.

I always find it amusing that normal always looks different from where whoever is looking at it is standing. Just a little mental amusement.

But other than that, I got a short workout in and have spent the rest of the day focused on paperwork. Then tonight, there will be cocktails. Well one cocktail.

One of the hosts always comes up with a signature cocktail for the party. It is kind of a neighborhood thing rather than a friends gathering. They do this every year. As the house is within walking distance it isn’t a matter of alcohol but calorie consumption on my part. That and for some reason they always go for really sweet cocktails.

I am more of a Dry Martini person myself. If I am going to choose to indulge in a cocktail there will probably be Plymouth Gin, Noily Prat Vermouth and some olive juice involved. And anyone who shakes that will get the stink eye for life. Shaking bruises the gin and alters the flavor. If you want to shake then go play with the vodka and leave my gin alone. Oh and if you do go for Plymouth Gin be aware they make regular gin and Navy Strength gin. Navy strength is far too potent for me. I will take my civilian blend thank you very much. oh and they do make a really good Sloe gin too f you are interested. And no they are not a sponsor. just my holiday liquor cabinet stocking at play.

And a little whining that when i do imbibe tonight it won’t really be a drink of my choice. They are among my favorite neighbors and they are always so pleased with their signature drinks. They aren’t bartenders by the way. I think they download a recipe and then somehow make it sweeter so it is always off balance and so that they can say they ‘tweeked the recipe’ to make it theirs and then rename it. It is fun. they enjoy it and we all have a good time. But the benefit for me is that I never want more than one. And it is kind of fun to have a signature cocktail at a party. If you do this though, maybe don’t make it mandatory. And before you ask, they also make a non-alcoholic ‘mock-tail version’ for anyone who isn’t drinking. that way everyone can more or less have the same drink.

Okay I’ve gotten my whining out of the way. Now I will be fine. Despite my not needing to go out every night and preferring drinks that are less sweet I do always have a good time when I go. It is a lot of fun and I enjoy the people. And as my babydoll likes to say when we come home and there is no possibility of offending anyone, nothing makes you appreciate a good cocktail like a bad one.

There is no makeup today because I didn’t get around to it. I will be putting on makeup for tonight but for the day I am fresh faced. So I am off to finish my day’s to do list and then we will see about getting ready. one of the best things about the house is that they like people to take their shoes off at the door, so I can wear my fabulous heels and then take them off and put them by the door. I get to wear them out and not kill my feel by standing in them all night. I just have to remind my baby doll to wear nice socks.

Happy Holidays.

Day 19: Luvia 2 Pan Eyeshadow Palette

Luxury Vegan Beauty

I couldn’t find a link to this specific two pan palette so the link goes to the Luvia Eyeshadows. I am not sure if this two pan set is specific to this advent calendar, but I am very glad that it is included. I have tried a highlighter from Luvia and really liked it. I have never tried their eyeshadows and a two pan palette is perfect for it. The two shades are a dark brown matte and a bronze shimmer. Which lets face it, is kinda my everyday jam. I am looking forward to giving this set a trial just to see the formula from the brand. If I like it i may just put it in my travel bag as it is the perfect size and the two shadow shades i use the most.

12 Days Of Bliss

Advent Calendar: Day 18

Day 18: Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Booster

The Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Deep‐Conditioning Treatment is a multi award‐winning formula that leaves hair stronger and healthier looking with less breakage. Acting as a conditioning pre‐shampoo treatment, it’s packed with effective ingredients like Castor Oil and Hydrolyzed Elastin to rehydrate your hair. Especially beneficial for extremely damaged hair, including Afro‐Caribbean, coarse and fine, this super moisturizing intensive treatment delivers elasticity, manageability, bounce and shine to all hair textures. The clever ingredient combination continues to provide UV protection even after washing ‐ helping prolong the life of color treatments and protecting from brushing and heat styling. Visible results from one application will build with continued use.

I have used several tubes of this and I am a big fan. Actually Look Fantastic is where I learned about Philips Kingsley, which is one of the benefits of getting a subscription box from the UK – brands I don’t normally see. I will admit I had a rough start with this product as I didn’t realize it was a pre shampoo conditioning treatment and initially used it as a hair mask post shampooing. Don’t do that. Use it as directed, pre-shampoo. It is about fifteen minutes of your hair feeling wieredly greasy with product but the strange feeling is well worth it. I also suggest you put the Elasticizer in and then use one of those claw clips to put it on top of your head and out of the way.

I hated the feel of the product coated hair against my neck. I felt much better clipping it up. And then once everything was rinsed out my hair was fantastic. It is especially fabulous if you have been heat styling your hair a lot prior to using it. The repaired feeling is much more noticeable then. I am very happy to have another tube of this hair repair and I am very glad it came in before I leave for Christmas as I will be putting it in my travel kit.
