Advent Calendar: Day 3

Day 3: Iconic London Triple Threat Mascara

Are you ready for voluminous, long and lifted lashes giving an intense, dramatic look that lasts all day? An ultra-black, stunning, weightless formula that volumizes, lengthens and lifts lashes all day and well into the night for a dramatic fluttery look. The easy-to-handle slim brush gets right to the root of your lashes for an instant smouldering, fuller lash line, whilst the dense bristles separate and coat lashes evenly with deep-black, intense fullness and length – the best alternative to false lashes.

Iconic London

I am always up for a good mascara. I tend to lean into the volumizing but a little lengthening never goes amiss. I have never been a false lash kind of person. No matter how light they are I always feel like i am half asleep when wearing them. In addition I never get them on straight. And don’t think it is lack of practice. I don’t draw my brows in straight and I’ve don that for years before finally caving and using the oh so fabulous stencil I use now.

I know I am never going to be a false lash person but I do like the look and if a mascara can take me there, I am all for it. Plus I never keep a mascara past six weeks so I am always looking for new product to rotate in. I have a few I am using up before the year ends so I may just keep it until I have sent a few tubes on their way. I do like knowing I have a full sized mascara waiting h=in the wings though. And While I have tried several products from Iconic London, I haven’t tried their mascara. Won’t that be fun?

Advent Calendar: Day 2

Day 2: Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream

This protein moisturizer combines signal peptides, growth factors, supportive amino acids, and pygmy waterlily for immediate improvement in the appearance of skin’s tone, texture, and firmness. Protini’s proprietary formula restores younger, revived-looking skin, almost from the first application. Lines, wrinkles, and signs of sun damage appear reduced, and skin feels strengthened and moisturized.

Drunk Elephant

The link will take you to the Drunk Elephant site (not an affiliate code) As a warning though, they really seem to like their cut away pages. They now offer this in a larger size and the jumbo size is $98. They seem to still sell the smaller sizes, including this trial sized 5 ml version, but the website didn’t want to let me et to them. They seem to be really excited about the larger website. Or maybe they are just an excitable brand. The site moved around a bit too much for me and it was difficult to find what I wanted so I’d probably order this from a secondary site (which is where I order a lot of my skincare anyway actually)

Anyway, I will look into that more when i go to try it and see how I like it. I am actually really pleased to see a Drunk Elephant product in here though. I have never tried anything from the Brand. I know they were everywhere a few years ago and everyone loved them (or hated them) and then they sort of fell off my radar. nd I never got around to giving any of their products a go. And now I can. I don’t mind sample sized moisturizers actually as they give me a change to see how the product performs before I commit to a full size. It keeps me from wasting both product and money. Neither being things I wish to waste. So I am very happy with this Tuesday Treat.

Decadent Hot Chocolate to welcome in December

Each December my babydoll and I like to welcome in the month of festivities by taking out the holiday themed mugs and making a decadent Hot Chocolate. Last year my holiday mug was destroyed in the great crockery smash of 2021 so this year I have a new mug. One side is the Naughty Grinch and the other side is the Nice Grinch. Oddly the smile on the nice Grinch makes me think he’s up to something more than the smile on the Naughty side but that might just be me.

The mug is significantly larger and although I used it to measure my amounts this year, as I always do, it was so rich that I could only drink half of it. However there was no waste as the left over went into the fridge and the next day was sent spinning through the blend jet with some ice to make a cold, yet still decadent treat.

Make no mistake, this is a calorie bomb. It is a good once in a while treat though. Although in the future I will be using a regular sized mug for it and keeping this enormous holiday one for tea or maybe a hot toddy. It is simply too big for this much dairy.

So on to the ingredients…

All of my ingredients are measured based on the size of the mug I am using. Remember that milk and cream expand when heated so leave some space or you will have an overflow.

You will need…

  • equal parts milk and cream (or almond milk and coconut cream, just adjust the sugar level as I find both almond milk and coconut cream to be sweet)
  • white (castor) sugar to taste (I go with 2 T for regular milk and cream, less with the almond and coconut)
  • Cocoa Powder (I like the Mexican Cocoa mix for that because I like the cinnamon mixed in, if not using add pinch of cinnamon, and a pinch of nutmeg with a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper)
  • pinch of salt
  • dash of vanilla
  • dash cream of Cacao

Heat the milk and cream (or Almond and coconut) on low/med heat in a non reactive pot (Go with a pot that is larger than you think you need as the dairy will rise up as it heats and you don’t want to overflow). Once the dairy mix is warm, mix in the sugar and hot chocolate mix. If not using a Mexican Cocoa Mix add in your spices too. Whisk to combine and add in the pinch of salt and the dash of vanilla. The salt actually makes the coco sweeter. It’s a nifty taste trick actually.

When the mix is hot, pour it into your mug. Then add a dash of the cream de Cacao. It won’t make it taste alcoholic, it will just deepen the chocolate flavor. If you don’t consume alcohol, feel free to leave it out The dash I used for this giant mug probably equaled about one tablespoon. In an eight ounce mug I tend to drop it down to a single tea spoon. It really is there more for the chocolate enhancement rather than the alcohol.

I will say that if I don’t have Mexican Hot Chocolate and don’t add the spices I will also add a drop of peppermint schnapps. The mint will keep the chocolate from being too cloying. which is what the spices do in the Mexican mix. Again if you don’t want to use alcohol, I would recommend taking one of those soft round peppermints and putting one in the bottom of the mug before pouring the hot chocolate into the mug. The heat will melt the mint (use the soft kind) and give you the same peppermint effect.

This is a decadent treat and not something that I would recommend having often. In fact we will have this at the beginning of December and then once again on Christmas eve. I know it looks plain on the surface, without all of the extra visual trimmings, but the taste is really something special. And every now and again, a decadent treat is called for.

Advent Calendar: Day 1

Each year I try to get a different advent calendar. I know the thing seems to be to get the advent calendar and to go through all of the boxes in one sitting. I have done posts like this, but to be honest, i just don’t like them. I really enjoy getting an advent calendar and having a little treat each day. I know part of the posts are to let you know what is in the advent Calendar so you can decide what is in them and whether it is worth picking up for yourself. Honestly when i watch or read those sorts of posts my thoughts kind of blur.

This year I went with the Look Fantastic Advent Calendar. I ordered it in September and shipping is best not talked about. The only thing I can say is that Look Fantastic did keep me well informed of the delays. I believe I received a total of 18 e-mails on the subject. But it arrived in good condition and before December 1st. I chose this one for several reasons. The first was that when I looked at the contents list before I purchased it way back in September, I saw two full sized items on the list that made it worth it. They were a full size of the Christophe Robin Sea Salt Scalp scrub (retail $53) which I routinely order anyway and will always use. The second item was and ESPA Moisturizer (retail $75.60). While I have used many items from ESPA and have always found them fantastic (especially for an at home Spa Day, I always order from them for my birthday at home spa treat for myself) I have never tried a moisturizer and would love to do so.

Those two items have a value of $128.60 and one of them I was already going to purchase anyway. The full price of the Calendar was $120. At the time I used a 20% off code and then I was able to use Glossy Box Glossie Credit earned from reviewing the monthly products in the Glossy Box (they put up the surveys each month and you get $0.40 of credit per review and can use them at either Glossy Box of Look Fantastic.) At the time this Advent Calendar went up for sale I had a little over $60 worth of credit So all told I ended up paying around $40 for this Advent Calendar. As even when the Christophe Robin Scrub is on deep discount the cost is only lowered to around $36 (incidentally it is still currently on sale on the Christophe Robin site for $37.10) It made this Advent Calendar incredibly worth it for me. It meant I purchased the item I was going to buy anyway at a discount and then got a bunch of other stuff with it over the month of December. (it is a 25 day advent calendar)

So since I know that going into the calendar I can just enjoy the items as they appear each day. Which is how I like to enjoy my advent calendars to begin with.

While this was a bit longer of an intro than I planned, these posts will be pretty short. I will talk about the item as it comes out of it’s drawer each day, but it isn’t a review. I will review the items when i use them. I’m sure some of the items will be passed on as well. But hopefully it will just be good Advent Fun.

So let’s Begin…

Day 1: Rituals Ayurveda Mini Diffuser

A mini variant of our current The Ritual of Ayurveda fragrance sticks, specially created for small rooms in your house. A natural and stylish way to fragrance your home. Enjoy the gentle fragrance of ancient Ayurvedic ingredients Almond Oil and Indian Rose for a relaxing effect on body and soul. Will last for two to three weeks. . .

While this is a mini diffuser I honestly wouldn’t want a larger one. This is just the right size for pretty much any of the rooms in my house. It stands about seven inches tall without the sticks and is about as big around as a half dollar. The glass base is ridged amber colored glass. It is well sealed and no scent escapes so I will have to see how I feel about the scent when i open it. I am actually looking forward to it as most of the Rituals scents I really like. I al hoping it leans more towards almond than rose, but either way i am planning to put it in the sunroom. Right now there are flowerless houseplants and my small greenhouse (empty at the moment) in the sunroom and while it is a lovely sunny room it smells a little cold because of the stone floor times when I sit in there to read. I’m hoping a scent like this will warm the space up. Either way I am well pleased with this day one treat.

This Rituals Mini Diffuser is on sale at the Look Fantastic website. Currently it is on sale for $17.20 but it is usually priced at around $21.50 if you are interested in it.

Hello my darlings. I hope you are having a fantastic day being thankful and enjoying the company of friends and family. This year has been a difficult and emotional year, yet when I sit down and think about things, there is still a long list of things I am thankful for. Sometimes, especially when it is a difficult year, it is extra important to sit down and list out the good things. It doesn’t make the bad things better, but it can be a light in the darkness. And that can be a very good thing.

One of the things that my family really likes to do is after the cooking and cleaning up from the meal is done, while everyone is flopped out and digesting we like to look at the sales and plan retail domination. while there are gifts to purchase, there is also stocking up on things that will be needed throughout the rest of the year. And so in the spirit of retail domination, here are a few of the upcoming Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales that have either started or will start bright and early tomorrow morning.

Holiday Gifts: Righteous Felon Craft Jerky

This may seem like a bit of a strange gift suggestion idea but for my family it actually works really well. First off Righteous Felon Craft Jerky is really good quality Jerky. If you go to their about pages you can not only read about how they source clean ingredients with no added hormones. In addition you can also check out the 44 Roseda Farms where their beef is sourced. I am a big fan of knowing where things originate, especially with food.

In addition to being well sourced, it is absolutely delicious.

Beef Jerky has always been one of my favorite snack items. I know, it is kind of amusing since as a rule I don’t actually eat a lot of beef. I like it, but it is a once in a while treat not an everyday or even every week sort of meal for me. It never really has been.

But I love my beef jerky.

During the week I will have a bag and portion out a few pieces here and there as an afternoon snack. It has great protein and it really takes so little to make me feel like I had a really big snack.

At this time of year though, i stock up for road snacks. While the gas station stop is inevitable because no matter what people snacks I take with me, the car still needs to fuel up too. But having good snacks in the car means that i am not stocking up on some not so great for me snacks when we pause to feed the car.

And as my family is scattered, I am not the only one with a road trip both before and after a holiday. These make the perfect stocking stuffers as I can order a large pack and split it out depending on who likes what. There are flavors to suit pretty much every taste. I am partial to the Darth Garlic and the Habanero Escobar. My babydoll loves the Voodoo Chile (that one is slightly too spicy for me which means he gets the bag to himself which makes him happy).

If you are going on a road trip or have family that is traveling for the holidays this is a great addition to the holiday gift giving, or personal stash. It is also great for those who just enjoy good quality Beef Jerky. While the image here is from the large variety pack that lets you sample all of their varieties, they have many different packs this year, some single variety for those who know exactly what they like. And for those who don’t want the beef jerky party to end, they offer subscriptions as well. That’s right jerky that arrives like magic upon your doorstep for all of your snacking needs.

Well, maybe the subscription isn’t magic. but it kind of feels like it.

For me, it is a great high protein weekday snack and a fabulous road trip supply to stock up on. At this time of year, Righteous Felon also becomes an amazing stocking stuffer.

Holiday Gifts: Bold Loft

I have this tendency to remember Bold Loft only around Valentines day. Don’t get me wrong, they make fantastic Valentine’s day gifts. But they also make great gifts for those you love year round.

Their designs are clean looking and most of them are done in black and white with just a hint of red in the hearts. There are actually solid colors available this year. i saw some blue pillows that would actually suit my bedroom really well and might be in an upcoming purchase as we do a little New Year’s Bedroom Refresh.

Bold Loft has large body pillows like the one featured in this photo (left). The case is 54 x 20 inches (135 x 50 cm) and fits most standard sized body pillows. I think that new pillow cases are a fantastic way to just refresh the bedroom and make it look bright and new. (plus the case doesn’t take up a lot of space which nit a lot of décor items can claim. For me it is nice to have items like this that I can trade in and out. I also don’t have a lot of storage space, so something simple like a change of decorative pillow cases really works for me. Personally, I am partial to the I love you to the Stars and back line. There are however many different ones to choose from, all featuring the general theme of love.

If you are looking for regular sized pillow cases instead of body pillows, Bold Loft has you covered as well. They do have the classic white as well, but I thought I would put the solid colors up so you could see the difference in the designs.

My bedroom has three light blue walls and one dark blue feature wall. The headboard on our bed is a soft gray. I am still in negotiations with my babydoll on the duvet cover. We have very different tastes. So finding something we both like has been an interesting (and ongoing) challenge. We both have items that we each had in our own places before we moved in together so we trade them out periodically. For reference as to how on going this is, we combined households in 2010.

Admittedly we have moved about five times since then. Slowly the things we each had are starting to wear out and when they do we come together and buy something we both like. We actually find it easier to wait until things wear out and then begin the debate. With bedding we are actually reaching the breaking point as we have slowly been wearing things out. However with the bedding it is only the sheets and coverlet my babydoll cares about. He has no interest in pillows or pillow cases, which is why I tend to lean into these form Bold Loft.

Which is probably way more about the inner workings of my home then you probably wanted to know. But these pillow cases take up very little space in my linen closet. And they ae an easy decorative item that can be changed out when needed and are easy to just throw into the wash with the rest of the lanudry.

If however bedding isn’t on your todo list, I recommend the mug sets. While many of them are specific for couples and celebrate things like valentines day and weddings, many of them are just little reminders that someone is loved. As I have always lived at a far distance from large swaths of my family, I am partial to the themes of love over a distance, like the Love has no Distance on the right or the I love you to the moon and back featured on the left. These twelve ounce stoneware ceramic mugs are dishwasher and microwave safe.

Again I personally like all of the simple, clean line drawings that are used for illustrations. There are many other gifts and gift sets available on Bold Loft. From superhero themed t-shirts, glasses, and other sets. I find them fun and a nice celebration of love. While you can go onto the site and search by type of item, there is also a menu that lists the items by event: wedding, anniversary, valentines day and long distance gifts.

Honestly, I think they make great anytime gifts. After all why should telling someone you love be seasonal? While I tend to lean more towards Bold Loft for Valentines day, their sets make great Christmas gifts and lovely items to simply refresh your home for the new year. it is well worth taking a look.

BOLDLOFT Couple Gifts for Christmas

The Daily: November 21st, 2022

Good afternoon my darlings and welcome to Monday. And it is a special sort of Monday. Today is going to be my only Daily post as the rest of the week is going to be away from the computer. There will be posts up (except for Friday), although Thursday will mostly be a posting of the Black Friday Sales that you might want to take a look at, or use codes for.

That’s right, it is the week of Thanksgiving. So today is the day where i try to wrap up anything that I need to finish for the week. This weekend I did a lot of cleaning but tomorrow there will be the last of the full on cleaning, followed by the beginning of the cooking. I am baking pies and taking them down. There will also be a sweet potato casserole and mashed potatoes that will be going down with me. It is just easier to make them here and bring them down so that everything just needs to be reheated on Thursday. This year I am in charge of the turkey so that will be the main focus.

We are leaving Wednesday at noon. Technically we could leave a little earlier, but if we leave at exactly at noon we can actually hit the major urban centers in the non peek traffic times. Sadly if we leave earlier we will still end up arriving at the same time we will just spend a lot more time sitting in traffic.

And yes, we have timed it on several occasions. So noon it is.

So Wednesday morning I will be cleaning all of the makeup brushes that I am not taking with me so that when I return home all of my brushes will be clean. There is something just fabulous about coming home to having everything clean and fabulous. It is why I spent a large chunk of the weekend cleaning. After the few days we are gone the scent of cleanser will fade and the house will just smell clean when we come back.

Its a little thing, but it is just so nice to come home to. So I take the time before I leave. It also amuses me to look at the activities list on my calorie/activity calculator on My Fitness Pal and find out how many calories vacuuming burns. I don’t know why that amuses me, it just does. So on the only makeup post this week, shall we see what I used?

Today’s Look

Primer: Stila One Step Correct

Foundation: Beauty Blender Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation

Bronzer: Iconic London Contour Dup Pot

Blush/Highlighter: Cotton Candy Champagne Blushlighter Palette from Beauty Bakerie

Setting Powder: Beauty Bakerie Flour Setting powder

Eyeshadow: Sweet Potato Pie Eyeshadow Palette from Beauty Bakerie

Mascara: Complex Culture Mascara Black

Lips: Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick

I know I am still testing out the Dr. Brandt Primer, but I couldn’t resist trying out the Stila color correct. It actually looks like a twisted marshmallow in the tube and I was curious as to how it would apply. while I will obviously test it more, I have to say today it did even out some redness to my skin. It was quite nice on the skin. As pretty as it looks in the container, it comes out as a purple tinged gray that is distinctly unappealing. It does work well though, at least for the first try, and enough to continue testing.

I am still really liking this foundation. Since I have been working on testing out a primer I haven’t gotten to use it as much as I wanted in the past couple of weeks (with primers I like to try them with all sorts of foundations while testing them). The box is messy, but I know they are changing that and really as long as you remember to wipe off the bottle after each use you can keep it pretty clean. I only needed two pumps to cover my face and honestly I think it looks great today. I’ll test it out longer when i am not playing with primers.(I’m kind of looking forward to that actually.)

This Bronzer has a cream and a powder product. Today I used the powder product because I really like it. I played with the cream this weekend and while I am getting better at using it, I honestly hate it. It is not the best product. In fact it may be the worst cream bronzer that I have used in a really long time. I do however adore the powder part of the duo. I’ll break it out in more detail in a full post, but if you are going for an Iconic London contour or bronzer, go for the powder.

The more I use the Blushlighter palette the more I like this blush. It is bright, but it doesn’t come on strong. It can apply very softly and then be built up to whatever level you like. I have been using a kabuki style brush to dot it onto my cheeks and then use the makeup sponge to blend it out at it has worked really well with me. It does have a bit of shine to it, but once you put setting powder on that it dims down. The highlights are all nice glowy highlighters instead of glitter bombs which is also nice. I am definitely more of the soft glow rather than the glittery highlight sort of person. These work well for me.

Thus far this Flour setting powder is also doing well. The oat has just enough tint to it that the powder is not bright white and glaring. Which I really like. Also as it has an interior cap that I can turn and lock the powder into the container so it isn’t all in the cap if i travel with it, I will be traveling with it this Thanksgiving. It is a good size for travel and it has the interior lock so into the travel bag it will be going.

Today I got to use the Sweet potato palette. I put it to the side because it didn’t really go with the fantastic red lipstick I was testing out. This is an interesting palette. It is reddish/orange toned, which is appropriate for the name of the palette. I couldn’t resist the blue shimmer though. And then i went in with the yellow shimmer so it came out distinctly green. Which is basic color theory I suppose yellow and blue to make green. Not sure how that goes with Sweet Potatoes I do however like it. This isn’t a color scheme I would naturally go to, which is actually a plus. I feel like I always go for the brown toned neutrals lately. It is actually really nice to just go crazy with color. But it is a safe crazy. There are several lighter tones I just went for the really bright ones. I did have the more neutral shades underneath(before I went crazy with the blue) I used only dry brushes and finger tips for application today. As I play with it I will try out some wet brush applications especially with the shimmers. There was very little fall out though and the shades blended well. I will continue playing with it, but for this uses, I really enjoyed it.

Generally i am not impressed with Complex Culture. Usually they look fantastic and then apply only so so. They are never bad, but they are never really great. they are the sort of product you can use while they are there but never miss when they aren’t. This mascara however was better than expected. It is very lengthening and I like it. I am more into volumizing of lashes, but this was quite lengtheing and that is nice. It is a little flaky though. Not a lot, but enough that it is noticeable to me.

I really like the ABH Matte lipstick formula. This shade was discontinued (Dead Roses) but it is a great neutral. I am reaching for it a lot right now because I want to use the last of it instead of hoarding it because i k now I can’t get it any more. Also it is perfect for the season. Moisturizing enough that it doesn’t dry out my lips for the winter and a really great fall/winter shade/ I do like the formula and will be picking up other shades, I just want to use this one up.

And so my darlings, that is me today. I will have regular posts tomorrow and Wednesday with the sales list on Thursday and then I will be out until Monday. I hope whatever you are planning for the Thanksgiving you have a fabulous time.

Holiday Gift Sets: Sol de Janeiro

This year Sol de Janeiro has several gift sets that I think are well worth looking into. I will admit i am partial yo the original Brazilian Bum Bum cream over the others. They all work well, it is just a scent thing. The original Bum bum cream smells a bit like buttered popcorn and I personally think it is just fantastic.

The scent does fade but it is prominent. I will say that while my babydoll likes the scent well enough, he is partial to the scent of Beija Flor scent when i use that one. He always tells me he likes my perfume when I have just finished applying the Beija Flor Body lotion. It is a delicate scent that is lovely, but fades pretty quickly when you are using the body lotion. I have not tried the body spray so I can’t speak to that, but if it smells like the cream, I wouldn’t mind having the scent around longer. I find both to be fabulous scents.

In this year’s gift sets, both of these scents feature prominently. The Bum Bum Beats Gift set (Pictured above) is , as the name suggests, focused on the Bum Bum Cream scented products. The Bum Bum Cream is a really good hydrating formula and I have to say even though it is meant to make sure your Bum looks smooth and tight, I have found it works really well to help do a little tightening of the skin on my belly. As I am starting to lose weight there are some stretchmarks. Those I will happily except as the weight goes down. However there is some loose skin that i really don’t care for. When I use this cream on a routine basis, that skin tightens up and there is less loose skin, which I really like. It isn’t magic of course, it is skin care and it does require routine applications (but it doesn’t require a lot so one large size of this cream lasts a really long time.

I know, it is designed for lovely ladies looking fab in bikinis. It also works well for middle aged ladies trying to whittle down their body mass. I know, it makes for a less exciting advertising campaign, but it is a fantastic cream. In addition to the Bum Bum Cream, this set also comes with the body scrub. I tried a small travel size of the body scrub and really enjoyed it. It was an excellent exfoliator and had the same buttered popcorn scent in the shower. The scent faded, but the smooth skin remained. I haven’t tried the other items in the set, but those two are very worth picking up.

If you don’t want the full set there is the Boldly Rio Duo Set to try. It has the super Fab Bum Bum cream and is paired with the perfume Sol Cheirosa ’62 from the brand. I am actually tempted by this set. I haven’t tried the scent but the description sounds like it is right up my alley…

Mouthwatering notes of salted caramel, vanilla bean, and rich almond make for an absolutely unforgettable first impression, while deeper golden sandalwood and pistachio notes round out and intensify the scent for a long-lasting fragrance experience.

Sol De Jeneiro

Seriously, even if I don’t go for this set, I am pretty sure that scent is going to be in my test out list for the new year. Its the caramel and almond that gets me. And I will never say no to anything with pistachio.

But that is beside the point. The sets look nice.

If the Beija Flor is more in your scent zone, there is a Beija Flor Duo Set for that as well this year. It has the Elasti-cream which uses a vegan collagen and feels fantastic on the skin. It also comes with a matching body spray.

The final gift set Sol de Janeiro has featured this year is the Radiant Rhythm Gift Set. This set features the warm floral Cheirosa 40 fragrance in the products. I have not tried this scent yet. While a part of me wants to pick it us so that I could try it, I will probably gravitate back to the original Bum Bum cream and the Sol perfume to try this year. I just really like that scent and the feel(and use) of the original cream. I do like that the brand has branched out of the original scent though. It means there is more for everyone to try and as much as I do love the original, I will be looking to try out some of the scents i haven’t gotten to use in the upcoming year. It is just a good brand, with a great line of products. I just need to remind myself that they sell more than just the Bum Bum Cream.

Holiday Bundle: Soap and Glory

Each year without fail I pick up some sort of Soap and Glory Bundle. What is kind of amusing is that each year my purchase is driven by one factor. I look at all of their packages and bundles and then I purchase whichever one has the full sized Heel Genius inside of it.

I know, not the best decision making process. However it is mine. This isn’t to say I don’t like the other products in the bundle. This $40 gift set for example comes with several products I like.

Pinkly the Best Includes:

Clean On Me Hydrating Body Wash 500ml

The Scrub Of Your Life Exfoliating Body Scrub 200ml

The Righteous Butter Body Butter 300ml

Hand Food Hydrating Hand Cream 125ml

Heel Genius Foot Cream 125 ml

Face Soap Clarity Face Wash

Reusable Soap & Glory white and pink tin

The Clean on me Hydrating Body Wash and Scrub of Your Life are two products I purchase for my shower every so often. I like the scent and the effectiveness. The scrub of your life is quite exfoliation-tastic, although not overly harsh on the skin. Because of the exfoliation I can’t use it daily, but for a couple of times a week it is fabulous.

My mother loves the Righteous Body Butter and Hand Cream so those two items will be passed on as stocking stuffers. I have never tried the clarity face wash from the brand so i am looking forward to giving that a go. and truthfully the Tin is going straight into my laundry room. I have a collection of dryer balls, which I absolutely love, but I need a container to corral them in and this will quite frankly work perfectly.

So nothing in this gift set will go to waste.

But I did purchase it for the Heel Genius Foot Cream.

I am posting about this as part of the Holiday Gifts posts not only because this and many other Soap and Glory Products and Bundles make great gifts, but as a reminder that sometimes great products do not have to break the bank.

This Heel Genius Foot cream costs only about $7 and it is the best foot cream I have ever used. It is a drug store product although my local Walgreens tends to run out of this on a regular basis so picking it up is always hit or miss. Hence the reason I specifically make a point to pick it up at the holidays. I do a lot of walking and my feet really take a beating. I have tried a lot of pricier items but in the end, i always come back to this. I have forgotten about foot care for several months and then realized suddenly that i am going to be wearing open shoes where people will be assaulted with my heavily calloused feet and rolled in this Heel Genius for an emergency rescue.

An hour before bed, when I am settled and reading in bed before sleep, I will slather my feet with this cream and pull on a pair of socks. (I can’t sleep in socks for some reason so I take the hour before bed to do this and then peel the socks off just before sleep.) Three nights of this and my callouses are softened, A week and my feet are soft and hydrated. Every time.

Sometimes we get caught up in the new and expensive and we forget the old reliable, and inexpensive products. This is a reliably good product and it deserves to be remembered. And if you can get a squadron of other nice products at the same time, even better.

This year, for me, The Heel Genius was found in the Pinkly the Best Holiday set from Soap and Glory. (Surprisingly though on the official website it is not listed as included in the kit so that may just be a US version.) Each year this is a treat to myself and each year I really enjoy it. It is my self care moment before the craziness of the holidays arrives. Some of the products I will pass on to those I know will love them but most I will keep for myself. It is Happy Holiday to me and I am well pleased.
