The Daily: March 24th, 2022

Ah, here that sound? It is the sound of the telephone not ringing. Isn’t it glorious. It has been mostly silent all day. And yes, after yesterdays everyone must call Mimsy day, I did think the ringer might have gotten turned off. But no, apparently everyone got their calls in yesterday. or my phone is just exhausted and no longer putting them through.

It has been kind of nice. I went on a long walk this morning and felt really good about it by the time i got home. It was as though in addition to exercising the fresh air simply blew the mental cobwebs away. of ciurse it also almost blew me away too. the wind was something fierce today. All of the trees in the park looked like they were competing with those blow up balloon men they have outside used car lots. You know the plastic tube attached to a fan?

It was like nature said, “I can do that too you know.”

It was interesting walking in such wind. At times it sped me along and at times it felt as though it really wanted me to work for every step. I’m sure it will balance out in the end. It is rare that wind is a factor in my exercising.

I did have to dodge a run away wheelie bin on my way back to the house. It was empty and being chased by a man clearly working from home. He had the dress shirt and necktie on, paired with superman pajama pants and socks. Not something you see running through the neighborhood often. Kind of fun. And he did managed to secure his trash can without spillage, so all was well. And I got my exercise in.

Today’s Look:

Pre-makeup: Embryolisse lait Creme

Primer: Lorac Light Source 3-in1 Illuminating Primer

Foundation: Wander Beauty Nude Illusion Foundation

Bronzer: Nudestix Nudies Bronzer stick

Blush: Illamasqua Colour Veil Gel Blusher

Powder: No 7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder

Eyeshadow: KVD Beauty Single Eyeshadow in Lolita

Mascara: Athr Beauty Big Bang Mascara

Lips: Mac Love me Lipstick in Bated Breath

I’ll be honest, today was mostly about picking up quick products that i didn’t have to think about too much. Except for the primer and Bronzer. The new primer arrived in the mail yesterday and i couldn’t resist using it. Because it is so illuminating, I ended up leaving off the highlighter. I love the way it applied. It has a sort of skincare scent to it, so I am going to have to look into the additional properties. I think this is a primer that I will have to think about the foundation I pair it with. I think for me it will go well with a matte foundation, but i think it would be too glow-y for me if I tried it with an illuminating foundation. So it will be something to watch. If you like a more glow-y look this might be something for you to look into. For me it added depth to the foundation that I really like. I will just have to play around with it.

Todays foundation was the Wander Beauty Nude Illusion. I really like this foundation. It’s sole drawback is that when you pull the doe foot wand out it splatters small drops over things. So you have to remember to open it over a cloth of some kind. Beyond that it is fabulous. Because it is my skin tone for the winter, I have been reaching for it on weekends. The reason is that I have had it for a while and it was getting low on product. I didn’t want to risk it hanging around for another summer just so I could use it next winter. As a result, today was the last use of product. So this tube of wander beauty is off to the empties bin. It was a fantastic foundation and I will be purchasing it again once i’ve whittled down my currently open foundations. This color is fair and it matches me well in the winter and edging into spring, but it is already getting to the time of year where garden chores have my skin shifting tones so perhaps it is a good thing I am letting this go. if I purchase it for winter use again I will go with fair. If not then I will have to figure out my shade. I will have to see about that when the time comes.

The Illamasqua, No 7, KVD Vegan Beauty and Mac lipstick all performed beautifully. They are some of my favorite go to products and I don’t have to really think about them. They work and they are fabulous. The Athr beauty mascara is growing in me. it takes a few coats but then everything is great and thee is little to no fading or flaking throughout the day.

And then there is the Nudestix. I like the color and I like the pigmentation. It is just not the best at blending. It wants to stay in that one line. If it can it will. When you start to blend it, it starts to disappear as though it wants to go off and sulk somewhere. I suspect it is a formula that needs to be warmed up before use. I am going to try holding it in my hand to warm it up a bit before my next use to see if it performs better. At the moment though, I’m not a huge fan. I will keep playing around with it on the chance that it is user error. Lord knows I’ve made mistakes applying product before.

And so my darlings that is my look. I was going for simple easy breezy and I think i got there. I really liked going for the one and done look with the eyeshadow and I am both sad and proud that the Wander Beauty Foundation is now going to the empties bin. Sad it is leaving, but proud I managed to use every last drop before it expired. I know, strange thing to be proud of, but it makes me happy. I hope the rest of your day is fabulous and I will see you back here bright and early tomorrow morning.

The Daily: March 7th, 2022

Good grief I desperately needed this weekend to make up for Friday my darlings. Apparently an automated control check flagged my site for violations. It took me most of the day to get to a person to look it over and decide the computer had been mistaken. the journey to find a person was somewhat perilous.

But I did, and all is better now.

Today’s work out was again a long stretch on the walking trail. The wind has picked up and you can practically feel the rain on the air, which was a good reminder to set up an indoor workout for tomorrow. And as the creeks are still running high, possibly for longer depending upon how much rain actually falls. In reality it could blow right past us and drop not a sprinkle, or the weather front could park itself for a week and flood the low lying areas again. At this time of year anything is possible.

If the weather holds off until later this afternoon then I am going to get my bicycle out of it’s winter storage and begin the process of getting it ready for the spring. I know I probably should have done it sooner, but I just didn’t get around to it. So out it will (hopefully) come today and the readying process will begin. And this year i will be remembering to wear a watch and use an extra layer of sunblock. Once that cool air starts washing past me I forget that the sun is still hot over head. And as I proved last year once I start riding my bike I forget that it is exercise and just enjoy the ride.

Good for burning calories, not so good the following morning when my thighs think that I am a monster. This year, I’m going to try to find a balance. So with a walk in and bike repair and the planning of an indoor workout, I think that I am hitting Monday pretty strong. let’s hope the rest of the week flows just as well.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Porefessional Primer from Benefit Cosmetics

Foundation: Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation

Bronzer: Trestique Bronzer Stick

Blush: Illamasqua Gel Blusher

Powder: Ciate London The Extraordinary Translucent setting Powder

Eyeshadow: Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Eyeshadow Palette

Lid Primer: Moonlit Eyeshadow Primer

Mascara: Wet ‘n Wild Big Poppa Mascara

Lips: Uoma Lip Liner in Angelou and Illamasqua Antimatter Lipstick in Midnight

Today my darlings we are saying goodbye to the porefessional. It is one of my favorite go to primers, but alas the tube is now empty. It is on my to be repurchased list because I really love it. I have lost track of how many tubes of this I have gone through. The problem is I have other primers that i really need to work through. So I am going to be doing that. I want to clear away at least two more before i repurchase this. Mostly because I know as soon as I repurchase it I will want to use it. So I delay rebuying. But for now it is goodbye.

At the moment I am going through my foundations. And I know as I have been sorting them I seem to like all of the ones I have. The truth is that when I use a foundation i will wear it exclusively for a week. If i don’t like it in that week, then I general get rid of it. If it is interesting enough to play around with a little more I will keep it a little longer, but in general if I don’t like a foundation, it doesn’t stay. So I generally like all of the foundations I am going through It is mostly a recap and a decision as to what has outlived it’s time with me. This maybelline fit me is a really good drug store foundation. I have the shade 115 which suits my skin fine at this time of the year. It is a little light in the summer, but as I generally go for more BB creams and tinted moisturizers in the summer, that’s fine.

I like it but I have enough foundations I can wear in the summer that I don’t feel the need to double up on shades. It is very matte, so I probably should have put an illuminating primer under it. I just really wanted to use up the last of the Benefit cosmetics primer today. The big issue I have with this primer is the container. It has an open top and I always waste product when I dispense it. I have recently seen this foundation in a tube at Ulta so when I repurchase it I will be going for that instead. Hopefully the formula is the same. It is a great formula, I just waste product due to the open top. I do better with droppers and tubes to be honest. This foundation has very little product left and is sitting on the edge of expiration so I think that I am just going to go ahead and let it go. I will repurchase it though as it is a good drug store foundation, I’ll just puck up the tube instead of the bottle.

For the rest of my face I chose some favorites. I’m hoping to finish out this Ciate Powder this week. it is good and I already have another one in waiting. The Trestique is a long time favorite and the Illamasqua I like more with each use. It is simply a great formula.

I have to say I am actually liking the Huda beauty palette less with each use. Without the lid primer the shadows have a tendency to blend into nothing, except for the shimmers which just take over. With the lid primer, the shades are brighter but they don’t blend as well. Also the colors are somewhat misleading. I dipped into a brown shade and it turned out to be reddish. Which is fine, just not what I was expecting. The shimmers are stunning, I’m just not liking the mattes very much. Which is odd as I usually love Huda’s eyeshadow formula. There is just something about this palette that I am not a fan of.

I noticed I had purged several mascaras lately and used this as an excuse to pick up another tube of the Big Poppa from wet ‘n wild. It is a great mascara and I am a big fan. I picked up a tube as soon as it came out and used it to the last swipe. The issue with this mascara is that the timer really starts ticking once you open it. I try to let mascaras go at the six month mark (unless something happens to cause an early purge) and at the six month mark this one is ready to go. About the time when I know it needs to leave my makeup bag, it starts clumping letting me know it is ready to go. It works beautifully up until then and as I sometimes forget how long I’ve had a mascara open,. it is kind of nice to have that built in timer.

The illamasqua lipstick I love. It is a bullet style lipstick that dries down just enough to extend longevity but not dry out your lips. It is slightly more on the pink side than I would like, so I use the darker lip liner under it. This was one of those lipsticks I picked up in my quest for the perfect red lipstick. It looks the part in the tube, but is slightly pink on the lips, so the quest continues. But the formula is great and as it is only $11 I think I will pick up some more shades.

And that my darlins is the look for today. I am saying goodbye to an excellent primer and a good foundation and still wearing down a setting powder. I am also falling in love with a gel blusher and getting irritated by eyeshadow. So it was over all a mixed bag. The final look didn’t come out too badly, but it was an interesting set of products to work with. And now my darlings it is back to work for me. I hope the rest of your Monday is simply fabulous.

The Daily: November 1st, 2021

November has arrived in all it’s chilly splendor. The last of the potted plants have been brought in and anything left in the garden has been left to overwinter outside. This weekend we are digging up two of the older flowerbeds. Mostly we are chopping all of the tops off, laying down cardboard and then covering it with very rich dirt and mulch. The cardboard will eventually disintegrate but it will smother the growth below before it does die off. It’s a technique called no dig gardening.

It is also a style that puts many of my subscription boxes to good use. The shipping boxes are actually useful for the cardboard barrier. So it’s less waste at the house. Always a good thing. Plus the bindweed has gotten out of control. I think I could dig all the way to China and still not get all of the roots. This Saturday I will be considering that part of my work out. This past Saturday changed over my wardrobe. That’s right my darlings, the short sleeved summer weight garments are all washed folded and put away. Well in the case of several of them, they had to be trashed.

Okay a lot of my t-shirts had to be trashed. This summer was absolutely brutal. And there comes a point where washing may get them technically clean, but they still are so dingy that they are not worth wearing. And many of them had seen too many summers already. I tended to reserve my older t-shirts for summertime walks. And I wore out a lot this summer. Honestly only a handful survived. I was actually shocked by how many needed to go to the rag bag.

In order to secure replacements for next summer, I am actually contemplating the t-shirt Subscription from Smartass and Sass. They have a great regular subscription box but they also have one for just their t-shirts. I checked the size range and it is pretty wide. It’s only $15.95 per month. I always love their slogans and think that it might actually be a fun way to bulk up my t-shirt collection again. They are the soft touch t-shirts too, which I like.

Of course right now I am loving the soft fabrics I get to use in the colder months. In case you hadn’t figured it out, I am a very tactile shopper. I have several garments in my wardrobe that I’m sure the fashion police would cite be for violation of the visual code should they ever see them, but they feel so soft that I just can’t give them up. I try to only wear the most offensive ones around the house though. It saves my neighbors from eyeball trauma.

Admittedly I will have to be replacing some of those items as well. One of my favorite sweaters has a pulled hole in it and needs to go and another fuzzy one had a hole magically appear after getting out of the wash. I hate to loose either of them, but I did see a couple of sweaters on The Gentle Herd Website that I really want So I am kind of taking it as an excuse. Plus The Gentle Herd actually has my size which is really nice.

But such shopping will have to wait until the last of my holiday shopping is done. I have two more things to pick up. One for my brother and one for my mother’s boyfriend. My brother is actually the hardest one. He just moved into a Tiny House a few months ago and has been working on jettisoning anything that doesn’t fit. Finding something he wants, can use and won’t overly clutter his place is somewhat difficult. But I will figure it out. I will purchase it, wrap it and then work on replacing some of my own missing garments.

Sometimes, you have to prioritize.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Benefit Cosmetic Porefessional Primer

Foundation: Ulta Youthful Glow Foundation Serum Drops

Bronzer/Blush/Highlight/Powder: Cover FX Perfection Face palette

Eyeshadow: Little Briar Rose Palette from Storybook Cosmetics

  • in case you are interested, this normally $55 palette is on sale for $15

Mascara: Roen Mascara

Lips M2U Matte Liquid Lip

Today I was happy to have a new primer. I finally finishe the one I was trying to clear out and reached into the primer drawer to pull one out randomly. Today it was the Porefessional. Always a good one to use and a favorite standby.

The foundation I used was the Ulta Serum Drops. I really like it and have just a little bit left to go before this bottle is empty. It is one that I will replace at some point. I’ll probably be rotating it in for the next little bit as I would really like to use it up. It is a great product, I’ve just had it for a while.

The lip I love and really do need more shades of this formula. I will be looking into that as soon as I clear out a few sample sized products and make space. I know resisting lip purchases is not my strong suit but I am trying to hold out. The Roen mascara is good, not spectacular, but good.

Today was mostly about the Cover FX palette and the eyeshadow. With the FX palette I often forget that I have it. I wanted to use it as I am trying to plan my travel bag for thanksgiving. It is one of the contenders as packing it means I don’t have to pack a lot of individual products. It is quite compact. I’m not terribly certain about the blush, but I do like the other products so it is still a contender. I might play around with it and alternate blushes before I make my decision. Even if I do add a blush it saves a lot of space.

Now to the eyeshadow. I know I took this palette out on Thursday and it has been out since (I really need to clean up my dressing table) The reason I used it today is because I realized I always reach for the same shades. I have three blue shades that I never reach for. So I decided today was the day. I love the color blue, but hate blue eyeshadow. Still I tried them. The Dark blue of Prince was kind of patchy but workable in the end. I love the shades Castle and Fairy but in the end I really don’t like the all blue look. I put the bronze Enchanted over them in the middle of the eyelid to sort of break it up. The shades blended well, but I’ll be honest, every time I pass a mirror I think. nope, gotta take off the blue. I think that the blue shimmers I will use as accents, but that matte Blue (Prince) is just killing me. I love the color, just not on my eyes. Blue eyeshadow is just not for me. Honestly though, Prince is the only color in the palette I wouldn’t really use. Which isn’t a bad commentary on a palette’s color story. I am just not a blue shadow person.

Live and learn, huh?

The Daily: February 23rd, 2021

Do you know what I love about February? As soon as you start planning around the weather, it changes. On Sunday the weekly weather report announced that we had 90-100% chance of rain every day this week. Monday, we had off and on rain and the morning when I woke up it was bright and sunny and the weather report said that there is no chance of rain until Friday.

I’m not entirely certain I believe him.

But it does give me a bit of a walking window. And since i already have the new batteries in the Wii (both board and remote) I played Mario Kart with my baby doll last night. The hardest part was resisting the urge to load up on snacks. It is a game that tends to be sponsored by both Funyuns and THC in equal parts. With an occasional side nod to Twizzlers. Going for snacks once the music starts playing feels automatic.

I might stick to the Wii Bowling in the future. It’s an arm workout and better for my waistline.

But today, I stuck to my calories, did my morning exercises and went on a walk so I feel pretty good. I really am liking the shorter workouts daily rather than the longer ones. I’d like to gradually increase the daily workouts, but i think the daily ones are easier for me to make a habit than the every other day ones. Get up do my exercises and then move on with my day seems like a habit i can maintain. Once the habit is there, I’ll start lengthening them a little at a time and then maybe change some of my work outs with the ones put together by professionals. Although I have to say, I really like just having a list of exercises to get through rather than an instructor. I just don’t deal well with bright and shiny people in the morning.

I need a surly irate fitness instructor with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth, a voice heavy with mockery when they say such motivational things like – “It’s ten more crunches, you big baby, just finish them up so we can all move on with our day.”

Now that is a work out video I’d pay good money for. Where does that work out stream? I’ll sign up. Surely not all fitness instructors are super perky. I’m willing to compromise on the cigarette. They don’t have to be a smoker, they just have to mock. That’s the kind of work out video I’d make if i was going to make one. It’d call it – Just get your butt moving.

In case you are wondering, this is also why I stick to just listening exercises in my workout posts.

But I digress. Thus far I’ve managed to stick to my walks and if the weather holds I might be able to keep it aup all week. If the rains come I have a back up plan. I like having a back up plan.

The Daily: January 26th, 2021

Oh my darlings it is a glorious day where I am today. It is 63 degrees outside, sunny with just a slight hint of breeze. While I find it unsettlingly unseasonal, I am taking advantage. I went on two extra long walks today. I have to admit, I enjoyed them both. It was wonderful yo be outside.

Admittedly everyone else thought so too. Usually our walking trail is pretty quiet during the day. Not today. The beautiful weather and more people working from home tempted everyone outside. While I usually bring my mask and put it on when I see a singular person (usually with a dog) approaching from a distance I slip it on. Any turn on our trail is wide and you can see people coming from a pretty far distance. There are a lot of straight trails so seeing people is pretty easy.

Today I started my walks with the mask on and ended both of the walks with the mask on. Never once was it removed. I can’t complain though. Everyone else was wearing a mask as well and pretty much everyone looked like they needed a bit of time in the fresh air.

We do have a storm rolling in later tonight. I’m pretty sure that is why it was warmer today. With the rain the temperatures will drop to more seasonal levels. I just hope my tulips don’t take any damage. Some of them have started poking up through the ground. I planted them last year so this is the first full year they have been in the ground and I’m not certain if it is too early or not. Bulbs always come up first here but I usually think of the flowers as being up around easter. It’s early yet so manybe it will take a while to reach the flowering stage.

I am going to observe and not worry. Yet. I can always worry about them later.

Actually the weather is so nice I may pop outside and do a little clean up work in the back yard before I start dinner prep. The weather is just too nice to waste indoors. With rain predicted for the rest of the week, it does seem like the sensible alternative. So I am off to spend a little more time outside. And to clear away the branches that fell from our neighbors tree. I’ll see you bright and early tomorrow morning.

Oh, and it you are inside and looking to do some shopping, from now until January 29th Look Fantastic has 50% off Eve Lom Cleansers.

The Daily: January 19th, 2021

Dieting and exercise are often an effort in delayed gratification. If you work out today and don’t eat the entire tray of cupcakes then at the end of the week you won’t be several pounds heavier. It is rare that you get an instant reward.

But sometimes, life just hands them to you.

Today my alarm went off at the new earlier time. I glared at it. The time didn’t magically roll back and the alarm shut off. So I turned it off and despite the fact that my bed was so cozy, I hauled myself out of it.

I actually slept pretty well last night. I claimed a solid chunk of sleep, but lets face it, I am never going to be a morning person. But at the moment it is necessary.

I will say I couldn’t face a Chloe Ting workout this morning. Some mornings a perky workout instructor is just too much to take. so I went on an early morning walk instead. My walking trail is well lit and there are loads of early morning joggers and dog walkers so despite the early morning darkness beigng held back by street lamps, it is fairly well trafficked and safe.

The grass was frosted white and it was chilly chilly chilly. But still better than facing a peppy workout instructor. And I get to see all of the heavy coated dogs in the area. It is a relatively warm climate where I live and this is the time of year that the huskies and Newfoundlands all look super excited about the world. Admittedly keeping the Newfies out of the creek is always a struggle, but as I’m not the one struggling, fun to watch.

This morning I went with old school Metallica as my work out music. It suited me and I walked jauntily along the trail. But what did I see when my steps brought me back to the house? Is that a UPS van pulling away from the curb? Why yes, yes it is.

Despite the fact that we have been getting all of our mail between the hours of 5 and 7 pm lately. this van decided a seven am package was on the schedule. I’m not complaining. Inside was my order from e-salon. They very kindly gifted me a card to order their custom hair kit so I could try out their process of customization and the custom hair color itself and when I returned from my early morning walk, there it was, newly dropped off by a UPS driver who seemed not to be in on the conspiracy of making me wait until the end of the day for packages. I’m sure someone will correct him.

But for now I had a moment of instant gratification. I forced myself to wake up and get out of bed for exercise and as soon as it was over, boom early morning mail. while i’m not counting on a repeat of the instant gratification, it was nice to have it once. It made the whole day seem just a little bit nicer. The fact that it is completely personalized made that just extra sweet. And the remembrance might actually help me get out of bed tomorrow morning. Of course unless something else magically appears first thing, the feeling will fade, but if it helps me get up tomorrow, I will cling to the feeling, at least temproraily.

Although i am super excited about the e-salon box as well. Despite the fantastic shine the Color Wow brought to my hair, I very badly need to redye it. And I am excited about trying the e-salon system. Just a glance into the box lets me know that it is so much more professional looking than the regular boxed dye. I can’t wait to step my game up. And of course I’ll share each step with you. For now I need to finish up some paperwork and pop some potatoes in the oven. Tonight is our homemade baked potato bar for dinner. My potato will use up the leftover broccoli and a dusting of cheddar as it’s topping so it will be well within my calorie count. So I have exercised, I am holding steady on my calories AND the e-salon package arrived. Today is a good day. Plus, I really like baked potatoes.

The Daily: January 18th, 2021

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I hope everyone is having a good one. My baby doll has the day off today so I am having a short day myself and then running amuck with him. well, amuck, grocery shopping. Sort of the same thing really.

This week i decided to start my day a little earlier. I actually got up at six am and got my workout in early. I know I say that like I planned it. In reality, I didn’t sleep well and dozed off and on. At six am I decided falling back to sleep wasn’t possible and so I turned off my alarm and got up.

I have been getting up a little earlier each week for the past few weeks in an effort to train myself to get up and do my excercises before I start the day as it is actually easier for me to remember to do them if I start my day with them. I can usually fit in a walk during the day as it is a good brain clearing exercise for me. The non-walking workouts either go into my day forst thing or they just don’t make it in at all.

Adam, my favorite Halloween mug. Inside he says “You’re the Ghoolest” It makes me smile.

So insomnia or not I figured going ahead and getting up at six am could help set the theme for the week. while I doubt I will ever be a morning person, for now I think it might be a necessity to at least imitate one. I can’t say the exercise actually made me more awake. I was sweaty and my heart rate was up. But as soon as I cooled down that wakefulness faded. Perhaps in time it will stay longer. For today, there was coffee.

I’ll admit I grabbed my favorite halloween mug and Frankenstein’s monster did make me feel better. Did you know in the book, his name is Adam? Just a little bit of trivia from me to you.

I will say that getting in the exercise first thing did make me feel rather virtuous. But don’t worry, I won’t let it go to my head. And now, I’m going to take a few hours off and enjoy the rest of the MLK Holiday with my baby doll. I hope you have a fabulous rest of the day and I’ll see you bright and early tomorrow. Well early at least. I think it may take a few weeks of early morning habits before bright enters the picture. Until tomorrow, my darlings. I’m off to play hooky.

The Daily: January 5th, 2021

I’ll admit, I may have gotten up in time to get a cup of coffee before heading to work, but I hit the snooze alarm enough times in the process to make a workout a bit of an impossibility. Which kind of annoys me a little bit if I am honest.

This morning was the first time I woke up the day after a workout and I wasn’t at all sore. Well, not the first ever time, but the first in a while. It means my body is starting to get used to doing more than just walking for exercise.

I think I may have to move my clock to the other side of my night stand to make it harder to reach. Right now it is easy to just snake an arm out from under the covers and hit the button. If it is far enough away that I actually have to sit up and possibly even slide a leg out of bed to turn it off then I am already halfway up and it might make me just go ahead and get up.

Strategic spatial planning for for the non-morning person.

Be that as it may, I did manage to get two walks in today. Admittedly, they were partially for mental self-defense. Sometime in the night everyone decided they missed me and my inbox was packed full this morning, mostly with things that required at least one short immediate answer. It turns out that when there are a lot of short, but completely different responses needed, it ends up taking a lot of time.

The walks were more for mental clearing than anything else. They were good exercise, but today, that came in second to keeping my brain from imploding. Dinner tonight is roasted beets with walnuts, goat cheese and thyme. It is warm, comforting, yummy and not terribly caloric.

It is also likely to make me thing I have some sort of medical issue when everything comes out dyed toxicaly red tomorrow morning when I first visit the restroom. Maybe i could leave a postit note on the mirror. “There is no internal hemorrhage, you just had beets.”

I know probably too much information. But the beets will be yummy. as will be the warm and melty goat cheese mixed in with them. Speaking of which, i need to chuck them in the oven so they will be cool enough to peel and slice before dinner.

And then i need to keep digging out my inbox.

Well, that’s the rest of my day sorted then. I wish you luck with the rest of yours.

The Daily: December 16th, 2020

Wow, today just flew by. I had a long list of things to gt done and so I just started working my way through them. Then suddenly i looked up and it was two in the afternoon. Somehow it still feels like it ought to be about ten am.

Productive but disorienting.

Sadly I can not say the same thing about my workout today. It started sleeting sometime in the night and has been alternating between rain and sleet all day long. It made this morning not quite feel like morning and I actually slept through my alarm.

So no morning workout for me. At least not yet. I have a few more things I have to get done today and then I am going to try to take a break before dinner and get in my 20ish minutes of workout. I’ll let you know if I am successful. At least I now have to tools to do a quick work out, even if I don’t go along with an actual video. By the way Prosource fit has a really good end of the year sale going on right now. Some of their Yoga mats are up to 60% off. I’ll post the link below for those interested.

Other than accidentally sleeping late things have been going pretty well. Lunch was a quick sandwich because it was the easiest thing to slap together but it was within my calories so that’s okay. Dinner is Garlic Noodles and as long as I remember my pasta portions I should be doing well. I actually dug out my big comfy sweater that i wear when at my desk and not wanting to turn the heat up. It was always large (it is an oversized cardigan) I have had it since before I started my weight lost journey though and where once it was just an oversized sweater it now looks like an odd sort of bathrobe. It made me feel like I was preparing for a sick day so I had to change it out for something else that isn’t so soft and squishy.

It is both a plus and a negative sign for weight loss. Most of my winter clothes are just a little too large at the moment but not large enough that I feel I have to replace them. It is going to be the winter of baggy for me. I’m hoping that I can get down one more size (I am actually in between sizes right now so I just want to get to an official size) over the winter and then having a spring/summer shopping extravaganza as most of the clothes that fit me this summer took a beating with the heat. then next winter I’ll replace the colder weather clothes.

I’m just going to be wearing things very baggy this winter. Luckily, there aren’t a whole lot of places I need to go. And with creative safety pins, I can still look presentable for zoom calls. Right now, Safety pins are my bestest friends. Especially where v-necks are concerned.

So that is my day thus far. I can’t complain as it has been a pretty good one. And now I am off to finish off my to do list and then hopefully sneak in the workout that I missed this morning. Wish me luck!

The Daily: December 14th, 2020

Happy Monday my darlings. I hope you had a good weekend and are not being hit too hard by the start of the week. Surprisingly it has been quite calm today for me. I’m not going to poke it with a stick too much to see why people have calmed down, I am just going to enjoy it.

My one moment of craziness was in realizing that one gift had not been ordered. Luckily it was still available and for a little extra I could have it wrapped and sent directly on. It was actually a birthday gift. Surprisingly I have three family members born just after Christmas (the 28th, 29th and 30th) Somehow I missed the one on the 29th. But that is all remedied. and even if the package is delayed slightly, it should still make it by the birthday.

Of course it means I had a minor freak out and double checked my list at lunch time. I am pretty sure that was the only thing I missed. So things should be okay.

As for exercise, this morning I went with Chloe Ting again. Today it was the six and a half minute warm up routine (I was quite warm at the end of it) and the Intense Fat Burning Full Body Workout which is twenty one minutes. Over all it went well. I was out of breath and sweating at the end of it, but I felt like I accomplished something.  With luck it won’t hurt in the morning.

As it has been raining off and on, occasionally the rain mixing with ice, there was no walking today. So that will actually count as my workout for the day. The rest of the day has, alas, been spent at my desk. I can’t complain too much as I have gotten a lot done today. I feel a little antsy because of my lack of walk but otherwise everything has been good. Cold and drizzly, but good.

I hope your Monday is toddling along with no major issues as well.
