Good morning my darlings. I am having a very interesting morning. Today my computer has decided I am not allowed to access my photos. I’m not entirely certain why it things it is illegal for me to look at photos I’ve taken, but apparently it has. I’ve phoned a friend and with luck the issue will soon be fixed. I don’t really like having my computer think that I am performing illegal functions. It sounds like it is thinking of giving me detention. Fingers crossed it is a quick and easy fix. More later…
power flickering off and on as the electric company tries to fix storm damage. If it stays posts will follow otherwise we try again tomorrow. Happy Wednesday.
Anyone who has read my posts for any length of time knows that I love trying new skincare. Because of this I often try samples to see how they perform. I find this saves both on money and waste. After all regardless of the price there is no point in purchasing something that you won’t use. While samples can’t tell you the whole story, they can give you an idea of how the product will work. They can let you know if you like the feel of it, or if you are going to have any reactions to it.
Somewhere along the way I managed to test a sample size of the 111Skin Y Theorem Day Cream NacY2. I’m guessing it was a subscription box, but I have no idea which one or when it arrived. I tend to put my samples in a plastic container and just reach in when I want to try something new or set up a travel bag. But one morning I did pull the sample from the container and tried it until it was gone. If memory serves it lasted a little over a week. During that week, I liked it enough that I put it on my ‘to test in a full sized version’ list. For the past six weeks or so I have actually been using the full sized version of this day cream. And I am now ready to give my thoughts on it.
First let’s look at the official description.
The vitamin, antioxidant, and Hyaluronic Acid-infused formula plumps and revitalizes the complexion while keeping the skin feeling hydrated and nourished. This rich Day Cream works to infuse the skin with anti-ageing active ingredients whilst providing a protective barrier to shield the skin from harmful aggressors. Ideal for people who work in polluted or urban surroundings, the Y Theorem Day Cream NAC Y2 is formulated to reduce the effects of environmental aggressors.
NAC Y2: A fusion of three ingredients that all improve antioxidant levels, providing the optimum environment for collagen and elastin production and reducing the effects of environmental damage. HYALURONIC ACID: A humectant naturally occurring in our bodies that captures and retains moisture in the skin, improving hydration and causing a plumping effect. VITAMIN COMPLEX: A potent combination of Vitamin A, C, E, F and H to help repair damaged skin and protect against environmental pollution.
Ingredients: AQUA / WATER / EAU, ISOPROPYL MYRISTATE, PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, CAPRYLIC / CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, PEG-100 STEARATE, GLYCERIN, BENZYL ALCOHOL, ORYZA SATIVA BRAN (RICE / RIZ) OIL, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) OIL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, CARBOMER, PEG-7 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, POLYSORBATE 20, RETINYL PALMITATE, TOCOPHEROL, LINOLEIC ACID, STEARIC ACID, SODIUM ASCORBYL PHOSPHATE, AESCULUS HIPPOCASTANUM EXTRACT, ACETYL CYSTEINE, FRAGRANCE / PARFUM.
PARABEN, PARAFFIN, SILICONE AND SULPHATE FREE.111Skin
So let’s look at that a little deeper at a few of the top listed ingredients. Water, I think we are all familiar with and know it needs to be in any skincare that seeks to plump the skin. After all it is hydration that helps with the plumping and the water has to come from somewhere. It is much better coming from the cream than deeper in your skin. ISOPROPYL MYRISTATE is an emollient and it helps the skin retain moisture.
PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL I actually find kind of interesting. I’ll admit I went a little science crazy in the deep dive of this ingredient but don’t worry I’ll keep it short (and provide a link or two for those interested. Put simply it is too large a molecule to be absorbed into the skin and so it stays on top and stops moisture from leaving. I found that really interesting. I’m used to sing ingredients that help lock moisture into the skin as they absorb but I never really thought about having something that doesn’t penetrate the skin preventing moisture from leaving.
It makes sense and I am certain other moisturizers use it, I just never thought about it and I don’t think it has been a part of any other moisturizers I have broken down before. So I found it a bit fascinating. This is one of the best articles I found to most concisely explain it if you want more information.
CAPRYLIC / CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE is coconut oil mixed with a glycerin and it helps both to smooth skin and soften it. In fact most of the ingredients on this list are used to both smooth and soften skin as well as work as antioxidants.
To be honest I really like this moisturizer for a couple of different reasons. The first is that it is a day cream. I know this sounds a little strange, but walk with me on this one for a minute. I know that the thought of having one cream that you can use for both day and night time use is a good plan. However I am noticing that my skin needs different things in the day time and night time. During the day I need a moisturizer that absorbs well, doesn’t clog pores and doesn’t make me feel greasy when I work out. So during the day I need something on the lighter end of the spectrum.
At night, especially in the winter when we have the heater running and the air in the house becomes drier, I need a heavier cream to get me through the night. I am not opposed to putting a sleeping mask over my moisturizer, but I would really rather have a good night cream and just occasionally add a sleeping mask to my routine.
This 111Skin Y Theorem Day cream worked really well in that aspect. It is too light for me to use during the night but was perfect for me to use during the day. It absorbed well and I quite frankly had no real problems during my trial of the cream. It has a light clean fragrance that fades into the background and becomes a ‘skincare’ scent rather than something you can identify by scent profile (ie. cucumber, rose and so on). So there were no scent issues. The moisturizer absorbed well and fairly quickly. I have been using it for the past six weeks and we have been having an unusually cold spring.
In the past week warmth has returned. This past weekend I actually got some of my seedlings finally transferred out of the greenhouse and into the garden. As a reference point usually that is something I do the weekend after Easter where I live. As it is warming up, I find I am having more problems with the cream absorbing. I have been having a little bit of a greasy feel to my skin which is not something that happened at all in cooler temperatures. I have a week or two left of the 111Skin Y Theorem moisturizer left in the jar and I suspect as the temperatures increase I will find it a little more greasy. This cream seems to be a very good moisturizer when the weather is cool, not so much when the weather turns warm.
I could be wrong (lord knows I have been wrong many, many times before) but I suspect it has something to do with the PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor oil. According to all of the information I found, it is designed to sit on top of the skin. In cooler weather this isn’t an issue, as the temperatures rise you can feel something sitting on the skin and for me it feels a little greasy. Don’t get me wrong, it is not a major grease bomb, but it is noticeable to me. I’ve had to pat my t zone with powder mid afternoon just a little bit more now that the central heating is not running.
You will notice that there are no before and after pictures with my skin and this cream. Part of that is because I accidentally deleted the photos in my grand spring purge. (I was so excited to make space on my hard drive that I simply didn’t think about what I needed to keep.) The other reason is that while this moisturizer did moisturize, any real work done on reducing fine lines I am pretty sure was done by other products. The hyaluronic acid in this moisturizer may have contributed, but serums and eye creams did the heavy lifting. This is a moisturizer and an environmental defense shield, it is not amazing at dealing with fine lines.
Over all, I do like this Day cream and I am very glad that I did try it in the full size. I think that if I were to purchase this 111Skin Y Theorem Day cream again, I would do so knowing that it would be a moisturizer I would use in the cooler months and that I would need to pair it with some heavy duty anti-aging serums. Everything else has its season, why shouldn’t moisturizer. So in conclusion, yes I would repurchase this moisturizer, but I would be strategic as to when in the year I used it and what products I used it with so as to use it to its best advantage.
The SkinStore has some fantastic deals going on right now that you might want to take advantage of along with the applicable codes.
Good afternoon my darlings. Today my Wednesday workout came with a side of drama. In the gym there was very terse conversation between two gentlemen regarding equipment cleaning. Apparently one believed the other did not clean properly. There was even a small demonstration as to how machines should be cleaned. It was a very odd lecture to hear from a large and very sweaty man.
I think my favorite aspect was that after he was done and everything went back to normal the woman next to me said: “and I can’t even get my husband to pick up his socks.”
when I tried to leave there was some sort of incident in the business next door. It involved an ambulance and fire truck, although I don’t think the fire truck was actually necessary as there didn’t seem to be a fire. It did more or less shut down the parking lot for a while so I went in to use the treadmill until they were cleared away. I didn’t see the end result but I hope everyone was okay.
So I ended up spending a little more time at the gym than expected. In the grand scheme of things it isn’t a bad thing. As long as whoever needed the ambulance turns out to be okay. My schedule just got slightly bent. I can live with that. Most of my life seems a bit bent at the moment anyway.
Foundation: Catrice HD Liquid Coverage
Blush/Bronze/Highlighter: Real Her Ultimate Glow Getter Cheek Trio
Powder: No7 Perfect Light Pressed powder
Mascara: Tarte Gifted Mascara
Today was interesting with the makeup. The primer worked well and I think I will be reaching for it often. So go Marc Jacobs! The Marc Jacobs sale is still going on so if you are interested you might want to click the above link and see if the things you like are offered at a discount.
The Catrice Foundation I haven’t used in a while and quite frankly I forgot I had. I really shouldn’t as I really like the way it applies. I know I tend to say that about every foundation that I pull from the drawer but the truth is that if after a week of use I don’t like a foundation, I get rid of it. I see no reason to keep products that I don’t like using around. If it doesn’t work well for me after a respectable trial, I pass it on to a friend. During that time I make certain that droppers and dispensers don’t come into contact with my face. I tend to put foundation on my hand and then apply from there anyway, but i make sure everything is clean and wiped down with anti-bacterial cloth before passing it along. But if I don’t like it, it doesn’t go back in the drawer. It has been a while since I purchased a new foundation so I have used and like all that I have. I just forgot about this one and how much I like it. For me Catrice is an odd brand. It is an affordable brand but for me the products are a bit hit or miss. Some of the ones I’ve tried were really bad misses, but the hits end up being really good for me. This Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation was definitely a hit for me. The only problem I have with it is that by about noon I need a lunch time pat down with the powder to knock back the shine in my T-zone. It isn’t major, but a quick pat does the trick.
I love the No 7 Powder. It is in fact my go to powder but I have been trying to remember to use others so I don’t just plow through multiple compacts of the No 7. The Real Her Glow Getter Cheek Trio has certainly seen some love from me. All three products are starting to show the indent of the pan through them. There is no metal visible yet, but I know it is coming soon. And I know I will use every drop of the bareMinerals Gen Nude lip. It is such a nice subtle color that I can use when going neutral or to balance out a bold eye. Incidentally many of bareMinerals lippies are on sale right now. Not all of them though so you have to poke around a bit on the site. I did see that there was a duo of liquid lips usually selling for $20 now on sale for $12 so it is a pretty decent sale for the ones that are selling. You might want to poke around and see it they have your color up for sale if you are looking to stock up.
And speaking of eyes, todays were a bit of a mess. They were fine by the time i took the photos but getting to fine was a journey. and also why the up close is a little messy. I am currently testing the Cargo Swimmables Shadow Stick and today I decided to test it with powder shadows. I have a couple of Cargo palettes so I decided to try it with one of them. I chose the Chill in the Six which is a wintery, sort of palette with blues and purples. It really is a stunning palette. The darker shades of Ontario and Hockey can be a little patchy and need a little finesse but it is worth it for the rest of the palette. I really enjoy using this palette. I tend to reach for the more neutral shades but given the almost smokey blue of the shadow stick I went towards the purple side of the palette, using both Ontario and Hockey today. There were issues with the shadow stick. It did not want to play with the powders. I tried it on before the powders and it was quite bad. I tried it after the powders and again not great. In the end I went with just the Shadow palette and set the shadow stick to the side. They just weren’t playing well together and needed time apart.
In the end everything was fine. It just took me twice as long to work through as usual. And as I haven’t played with this palette in a while, it was fun to play with. Not what I had planned for today, but still fun.
Mother’s day is fast approaching. Have you done your shopping? If not you might what to pop by the igourmet site and have a peek at their Mother’s day Gift Guide. From wine and cheese to candy and chocolate, they have you covered. They even have a breakfast in bed tray as one of their basket set ups. As breakfast in bed was always one of the things we did for mom growing up, that has a special appeal to me. Over all, they have a great selection of specially curated mother’s day gift baskets designed to make anyone feel special. I highly recommend checking them out.
Good afternoon my darlings. Before I get into anything else I wanted to let you know that I just found a huge cache of comments in the spam folder on my admin page. Most of them shouldn’t be there and should have been posted as regular comments. I am so sorry and I am working to dig them out. i was not ignoring you I promise. Mixed in were of course several actual spam messages and one very nasty comment that made me think someone needed their mouth washed out with soap.
In addition there were a couple of comments regarding issues with the RSS feed. I went to the help section and chatted with the tech support for a bit. Apparently, I can’t do anything about your RSS feed, but you can. They gave me a link to the how to site that details how to fix things whatever you are subscribed to the RSS feed through your WordPress account or through another outside site. They also gave me a link for those of you who want direct assistance with the issue. It is a live tech support link and they can walk you through what to do. I would fix it for you if I could, but apparently I can’t. Hopefully the links will help. If they don’t please let me know and I’ll go back to talk with the tech folks and see what other fixes there are.
Today has mostly been dealing with housekeeping items like the comments accidentally sent to spam and trying to get caught up (and possibly a little ahead ) after the tech debacle earlier in the week. That seems to be a running theme for me this week. I managed a walk but mostly I am clearing the decks for tomorrow. Tomorrow I am going in for the first workout of the official professionally sanctioned plan. The issue is I don’t know how long the actual workout will take. So I’m trying to create a little space so I can figure it out and figure out next week’s scheduling a little bit early. I’m still kind of excited about starting the new program. It’s kind of like a first day of school feeling. hopefully it will last until things start to become routine and the habit of going to do the workout is ingrained.
Foundation: Becca Luminous Perfecting Foundation
Highlighter: Huda Beauty 3 D Highlighter Palette
Blush: Benefit Gold Rush
Eyeshadow: Violet Voss Funsized HG eyeshadows
I just couldn’t face the luminizing of the Pixi Primer. I think it is just a little too much for me. I will still play around with it, but today I went with my old stand by from Urban Decay. The product may have been around for a long time but it is still hard to beat. I am trying to reach for my Becca Foundation more often now that I know Becca is closing its doors in the autumn. I Really do like this foundation but there are other foundations I like as well and I have made the decision not to stock up on it at the last minute. I think remaining in love with a foundation that I know is going to end production is not the smartest idea. It is a path leading only to future lament. So i am going to use up the bottle I have and relegate it to a fond memory.
I did want to talk a moment about the Smashbox powder. It is the one where you turn and fresh powder is sliced off a disk and thus ‘freshly’ available to use. I love the powder, it is a very good loose setting powder. However each time I reach for it I am finding the dial harder and harder to turn. Is anyone else having this issue? I want to use the powder but find myself reaching for another product because I just don’t want to fiddle with the shaving dial. without the dial I’m pretty sure the disk of powder just becomes pressed powder so I might try fiddling with the container. if all goes wrong I’ll just have a disk of pressed powder. That might be a weekend project though.
The Violet Voss Palette is one I rarely reach for. I’m not entirely certain why. The shadows aren’t the most pigmented but they are buildable and they do blend well. I like how they apply and I like the look I put together today. It made it through my last declutter because I couldn’t remember if I used it or not. Now I’m glad I kept it.
On the daily front that is pretty much all there is to report. I will be going through the back log of comments I didn’t know was there and even though I normally try to return a comment on all of the ones I read if I don’t respond I am sorry, but please know I will read them all.
Good Morning my darlings. As you may recall yesterday I had my second vaccine shot. Today I woke up achy, flashing hot and cold and am struggling to keep my eyes open for more than five minutes. So I am going back to bed and declaring today a sick day. I hope all of you have an excellent day and I will see you tomorrow when hopefully I will have slept off the side effects. Have a great day my darlings.
Power! At the moment I have it. It is a flickering thing though so I am going to keep today’s post very short. April rain may bring May showers but March’s rain brings fallen trees and downed power lines. we lost power for a large chunk of the day
. Outside there are large trucks and teams of people trying their best. All the rain loosened the earth and trees that weren’t as firmly anchored as one might expect have decided to hit the ground like fainting victorian ladies. As one lovely tree in my neighbors yard hit the ground all of the pink and white petals fluttered like snow. Considering the temperatures are about to plummet (according to the weather man) I hope it isn’t a sign of things to come.
My tulips finally flowered and I would like to keep them. Last year the rabbits thought they looked like lovely little treats and nipped them off the stems so the fact that they have stayed on the stems this year is kind of amazing. well some of them stayed on the stems. three have been chewed off by the fluffy bunny brigade. I;m hoping the freeze doesn’t do them in.
I may spend the afternoon working on figuring out how to protect them. I spent most of the morning contemplating the slowly thawing freezer. Meals may be interesting for a bit. With thunder and lightning rolling in again, the lights are flickering and the sounds of buzz saws outside are momentarily silenced. I think I am going to call it a day and end this post.
the gym was closed as they lost power and walking was clearly not an option. Thus far calories are on point but dinner may be on the interesting side. with luck normality may be restored in the morning. Okay thunder rattling windows. I’ll catch you up tomorrow. Stay safe my darlings.
I just got an e-mail saying Makeup Eraser is having a flash sale (one day, today the day before St. Patrick’s day) and that their Neon Green St. Patrick’s day themed Makeup Eraser is on sale for 50% off with the code LUCKYME. Personally, I think the color is irrelevant as all Makeup Erasers work fantastically well. Just figured if you were looking to pick one up, you might be interested. Good afternoon my darlings. You have no idea how happy I was this morning when I turned on the computer and had internet. The internet here went down late last thursday. The company got everything running about eight thirty Friday morning, but around noon it went down again and stayed down most of the weekend. It was kind of funny actually (mostly because we more or less accepted that the internet was down and found other things to do) but we would be connected for an hour or two here and there and then it would go out again. There were utility vans crawling through our neighborhood on every street. It was like we were all being watched by the Feds in some sort of police procedural.
As the worst thing that happened this weekend is one of my neighbors’ dogs getting loose and her running down the street after them, I imagine it would make a pretty boring drama. By about three on Sunday everything was fixed and my neighbor got her dog under control (he’s an 8 month old Boxer puppy so control is more of a relative term – temporarily corralled might be a better description).
And then everyone left the neighborhood. I have no idea what was actually wrong with the internet and to be honest, I’m not entirely sure they knew either.
But it is fixed so I can’t complain.
I didn’t get much done in the way of exercise this weekend, but I did get a good long walk in today so I feel less like a dedicated editing lump. I am so close to the final edits of my latest novel that I can taste it. Soon SOOOOOOn it will be done and dusted. The Annual Smashwords Read and E-book Week sale started Sunday and runs through March 13th. The link will take you to my books but there are literally thousands of authors to choose from and nearly every topic represented. My books are 50% off. Even if my books aren’t to your tastes there are deep discounts and it is a great way to not only find a great read and a new favorite author, but but a way to support independent authors in general.
Once change that I am making to my site is that I am going to post a what I’m wearing today makeup post rather than the weekly makeup bag. Don’t worry I’ll try to keep it short. The reason is that I want a little less constriction in my makeup. I want to be able to pick something out and just play with it because that day i felt like playing with that particular makeup. For new items I’ll still give them a week of trial before I actually post my full feelings about them so somethings will still last a week.
Today I started with the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Primer. it is a great formula and I felt in need of a little brightening. I then used the Becca Luminous Aqua Foundation. It is one of my favorite primers but with Becca closing up shop it will soon be no more. I was trying to decide if I wanted to pick up one more bottle before it is gone for good or not. I think what I am going to try to do is just use this bottle up and then bid it a fond farewell. That is the plan at least. It is a great foundation though. As the bottle reaches its end there is always the possibility I’ll decide to pick up another bottle. I have a while before I get there as the bottle is about half full at the moment. If I reach the end of the bottle before September when they are scheduled to close I may pick up a bottle, I may not. The foundation was excellent though.
Bronzer was the Nars Laguna. I am trying to use the sample up so you may be seeing it relatively frequently in these daily posts for a while. The bluesh was the Patrick Ta Blush. It was new last week (it came in the IPSY Glam Bag X and I couldn’t resist using it again this morning. it was just so shiny. I added the Wanderess Glow Highlighter from Wander Beauty which paired well with it. It is such a soft and subtly highlighter and I really prefer that sort of look to the blinding bling of many other highlighters. Not that there isn’t space for that, I just wasn’t feeling it today. This suit my mood a lot better.
My eyeshadow Palette was the Little Briar Rose palette from Storybook Cosmetics. I used the shade Woodlands as a base, the mauvy tone of Grimm and then topped it with Talia. The mattes performed beautifully as always, the shimmers were fine for about an hour and then I noticed a trail of glitter descending down the side of my nose and edging my under eyes.
The mattes are still fantastic. The pale pink of Thorn is my favorite and a color I would reach for continuously. This palette is so bulky that for a while it got shoved to the back of my drawer and lost. I am so happy I found it when I reordered again. I skipped the eyeliner today but topped my eyes with the Wet ‘n Wild Big Poppa Mascara, which I am liking more and more with each use. The liquid lip was from NARS but to be honest I can’t tell you what shade. It is old enough that the shade name has worn off the bottom. It is also starting to get clumpy so this will be my last use of this Nars Lip. It is sadly time to bid it farewell. Have no fear though, NARS lip products will return. I adore NARS so there is no fear the brand itself won’t make many returns in many forms. I set everything in place with the Pore Professional Supper Setter. I will probably be using this continuously for a while because it is both a good spray and it leaks when I lay it on it’s side in the drawer. So I will use it and then work on another setting spray to avoid making a mess.
I was very happy with my hair today actually. You may remember that last week I opened the Bad Attitude Hair mask from The Mane Club. For the test I used it alone to see how it performed. There are however three uses per packet and I used it again this weekend. This time I Also added the One Hit Wonder spray as a heat protectant and used the hair dryer. SO much more volume. I’m still glad I tested it on it’s own the first time, but this works wonders when you add a blow dryer with it. So that is today’s look. I hope you like the altered format of the daily rather than weekly makeup post. Please let me know your feelings. I really like that it allows me the chance to play around a bit more.
So today is pretty much on a roll. I got my workout in and am watching my calories. The internet is working and the editing continues. Over all, not too bad a Monday.
If you are like me then when you’ve scrolled through Instagram you have probably come across the Pinch Me posts. I am not entirely certain when they started appearing on my feed, but they have been a presence for a while. Like Influenster, you can sign up for free and then once you fill out a profile, they will suggest samples for you to try out and review. I figured why not give it a try.
Now here’s the thing. I signed up for any sample they suggested (except pet food as at the moment, I don’t have a pet) I did not go for the items that required I sign up for another service. I just went for the suggested samples they were willing to send me without me purchasing a magazine subscription. (That seems to be what they want to sell me, magazines. You might get a different suggestion, but they feel that is for me.)
In my profile I said I was interested in health and beauty items. I also said that I didn’t want food items and I especially didn’t want candy. If you’ve ever seen the ads, they have quite a lot of nice health and beauty items available. So it was encouraging.
I received four items in my box.
The first was a pack of Gummy Bears. I like Gummy Bears. I especially like that the clear looking ones always turn out to be unexpectedly tropical in flavor. I know it, but I never really expect it. Or I didn’t this time. It has however been a long time since I had Gummy Bears. They were nice. And the sample pack was just the right size for a snack.
The second item was a pack of Blue Diamond Smokehouse Almonds. I like almonds and I like the brand Blue Diamond. The size is the perfect size for snacking on the go.
The Smokehouse flavor was however disappointing. It tasted like someone put salt and liquid smoke on the almonds. It made them slightly spongy in texture and not all that flavorful. While I will buy Blue Diamond in the future, I will stay away from the smoke house.
And yes I know that by just accepting the samples I’ve probably let their algorithm know that I lied when I said I didn’t want candy. But this was a test. I may play around with it, especially as the next two items were more relevant.
The third item was in fact very much appreciated. It is the Bausch and Lomb Bio True Multi Purpose solution. I wear contacts (and reading glasses actually) My eyesight has never been the best. I started out with coke bottle lenses, then moved to the thinnest lenses the glass makers could do. I had the hard contact lenses and then I gratefully moved into soft lenses when they became available.
Oddly my reading glasses has been the same trajectory. I picked up a cheap pair just to see if they’d help and when they did I got progressively better and thinner ones. (Highly recommend the Thin Optics if you are looking for a pair of lightweight readers). However this is about contacts, or at least contact solution.
Bausch and Lomb are generally my go to brand anyway but I hadn’t tried out this Bio True formula. I just finished my regular bottle and was ready to open a new on when this appeared so it was fabulous timing. I was very impressed with it. I spend a lot of time at the computer and my contacts do dry out. This actually kept them from feeling dry at all. (I’ve used it about a week at this point.). I am very impressed. Next time I purchase solution, I may switch to this formula. I really have been enjoying it.
The last item in my box I had never heard of before. I have no idea if it is a new product or one that I just somehow missed seeing before. It is the Kub Wipes Premium Dry cotton Wipes. They are made from 100% plant based fibers (which I would assume cotton wipes were made from, but it basically refers to additives) there are no chemicals, fragrances or preservatives and they are recyclable. They are soft with a slight texture and dispense like tissues from the box (which is a cardboard that can be recycled as well. They are billed as “Thicker than a tissue, cleaner than a towel, softer than paper”
I have to say they score on all those points. Because of poth the softness and texture, they were great at cleaning up eyeshadow fall out. And to be honest I did use my handy dandy water spritzer to wert the edge and use it damp as well as dry. It did a really good job when I used it during makeup application. I do like makeup wipes but I have gotten into the habit of not using them because of the waste. The fact that these can be recycled makes me feel a little bit better about them. I think I would still use them sparingly, but I could see myself purchasing these kub wipes on my own. I do find their little cotton man mascot thing a little on the creepy side. I don’t know why, anyone I’ve asked says he’s cute. But I find him slightly creepy. Not as creepy as the robot lady on the Vodka bottles but still kind of creepy. It is a good cotton wipe to have around though.
So there you have it, the four items I was sent. Two weren’t in my profile and two actually were. I can’t say I really mind the Gummy Bears or Almonds (even though the almonds were disappointing). I do find it amusing to compare the reality of the boxes with the images from Instagram. So I did. I think I will continue to circle through and see if I can work my way into more products that actually fit my profile by selectively choosing instead of accepting for the next round, but this was my Pinch Me Box.
