Let’s Talk Blinc

I do not really do false lashes. I like the way they look on other people. We’ll sometimes I like the way they look on other people. Some people they look great on. Me, not so much. On occasion I have had someone else apply them and they looked okay (mostly when the individual lashes were applied rather than the full set). I have also had someone who knew what they were doing apply them and I still hated the way they looked on me.

For me they look too heavy. They also feel too heavy (even if they are light weight) and I have the tendency to either let my eyes droop to half closed or to open them wide to compensate so that I look liked I’ve just been tapped by a cattle prod. There are also several lash glues that I am allergic to which was not a fun experience.

But I do love long thick full lashes so I am always down to try out new mascaras. This particular mascara is the Blinc Ultra Volume Tubing mascara. Tubing mascaras are interesting. I find something about them absolutely fascinating. They basically wrap product around your lashes and build off the ends, creating a tube of product at the end of your lashes to lengthen them.

Admittedly they explain it better in the description so…

Blinc’s UltraVolume Tubing Mascara gives you an ultra-longwearing, buildable, false lash effect with a semi-matte finish. This tubing mascara formula is both clean & vegan.

UltraVolume’s brush has dynamic spacing and supersoft fibers. The bristles are made of thermoplastic elastomer—meaning they’re gentler than plastic, yet still hold their combing power. It’s the ultimate control brush that lengthens lashes and achieves dramatic volume.

Our original pioneering tubing technology forms tiny water-resistant “tubes” around each individual lash. Unlike conventional mascaras, you won’t need to apply and wear the formula like a greasy paint. The tubing formula sets once it’s applied, creating tubes that bind to your lashes. Once it dries, it’s smudge proof. It can’t run, clump, or flake—even if you sweat, cry, rub your eyes, or have oily skin.

Clinically tested to be non-irritating, UltraVolume is ideal for sensitive eyes, contact lens wearers, and active people. It’s the answer to anyone searching for a mascara whose look, hold, and ease of removal is without compromise.

The UltraVolume tubing formula has a better hold than waterproof mascaras, yet is easier to remove. You can set down the makeup remover—it won’t do the job. Simply combining lots of warm water and gentle pressure will slide the tiny tubes effortlessly off your lashes.

It’s healthier for your eyes and lashes: there’s no tint or residue left behind. No need to scrub the delicate skin around the eyes. No irritating makeup remover products needed.

Blinc

Now I have the pictures here, both with my eyes closed and open. It is pretty easy to see that it does lengthen and it does create volume. And I can say that both last all day. It is really easy to wear this mascara. And once it is in place it is smudge proof. I have actually tried it on my walks and when walking in 90 degree heat seating my skin off, I still didn’t end up with raccoon eyes. The mascara stayed in place.

no mascara left, mascara right

Removal is interesting. Regular makeup remover will still leave the Blink Ultra Volume Tubing Mascara in place. So they are right, it is pointless to reach for it. Waterproof mascara will take it off easily. I use the ultra gentle Klorane Cornflower waterproof mascara remover and it works well. You can remove it with warm water. But splashing water on your face won’t get the mascara to come off. It has to be arm water and I found it is best to soak a wash cloth in warm water and then press it gently onto your closed eyelids. Much of the product will end up on your cheeks, some will end up on your washcloth. But once warmed with water it will sort of slide off of your lashes. What I have found best is the warm water approach and then use a clean damp spoolie or eyelash comb to comb through to get the last of the mascara off of your lids.

no mascara left, mascara on the right

Remembering not to just use makeup remover is the hardest part, it is really easy to remove.

The only issue that I had with this mascara, you can actually see on the wand. Lots of product accumulates on the wand. Now this mascara is reaching the end of it’s life so it looks a little clumpier on the wand than it did when it was fresh. It still applies well but I have had it open about five months now. So it has served it’s time. It is a very good mascara and I will miss it when it is gone. I will also be picking up another tube of the Blinc Ultravolume tubing mascara soon.

Blinc Eyebrow pencils and mousse

The Daily: June 6th, 2022

Have you ever woken up thinking you had a nice quiet day ahead of you and then suddenly feel like you have a bucket of crazy upended over your head? That has sort of been my day. This morning started off quiet. Nice morning writing, cup of coffee, catch up on the news (I tend to avoid the news over the weekend in an effort to destress). Then I started slipping into my day. Before i could do much a ruckus ensued in my back yard. Birds were enraged, cats were squalling.

Which as I don’t actually have cats is quite the surprise.

Apparently one of the neighborhood cats has had a liter of kittens in my yard. They seem to be living under the shed, which was where the rabbets were coming from so I am guessing the cat evicted the rabbits or there is some sort of cross species roommate system going on. Either way there have been less rabbits in my yard this year and now there are three kittens strolling about the yard.

The birds are not thrilled,

I’m not sure if the birds went after the kittens and the cat went after the birds in retaliation or if the birds started it, all I know is that by the time I sent them all scattering with my human pinwheel through the yard they were having a bit of a battle.

Which I’m sure will be interesting going forward. Once the wildlife was settled I realized that my phone conference was actually a zoom call and had to do quick makeup. (I changed the shirt post picture so I was dressed for the meeting as well. I was still in pajama pants but the t-shirt was replaced.) Despite being a quickly accomplished makeup look, I think it turned out well. I leaned heavily on products I know and truest for quick and easy application and great performance so it isn’t really surprising for the most part, however it wasn’t all old favorites. Let’s get into that…

Today’s Look:

Primer: Glass Primer from Rodial

Foundation: Kristofer Buckle Triplicity Foundation Stick

Bronzer: Trestique Bronzer Stick

Blush: Benefit Cosmetics Gold Rush Blush

Powder: Tatcha The Silk Powder

Eyeshadow: Iconic London Sunset to Sunrise Palette

Mascara: Blinc Ultra Volume Tubing Mascara

Lips: Elf Sheer Slick lip gloss

Okay so like I mentioned before I had very little time to get ready today. I planned to mosey into my makeup but due to the wildlife and sudden realization that I would be visible during my meeting, plans changed. First let’s cover the standards I grabbed. The Foundation is my Kristopher Buckle Triplicity foundation. It is an amazing product. While the brand no longer has a separate website, the products are still sold on Amazon and Walmart. I don’t think they have stopped production, they are just not independently marketing the products. At least that is what it looks like (and what i hope because I love this foundation stick). I am going to look deeper into this (and if anyone else finds anything let me know) It is a fantastic formula and I am hoping it is still available and not gone the way of Becca and Marc Jacobs. Regardless I have it here and it is my go to on the run foundation stick.

The Trestique is also my quick, easy and fabulous bronzer as is the Benefit Cosmetics Gold Rush Blush. Actually in the benefit blush I actually started to hit pan today. It is only a small dot, but as this is one of my favorite light makeup blushes and I tend to lean into light makeup for the summer, I need to look at replacing it. Benefit has an entirely new line of blushes out now which I need to look into. Plus they have samples kits so you can try different products. I am going to be looking into those as well this week.

The mascara and lips were also quick and easy favorites. Blinc tubing mascara is super fast and easy to apply and looks great. One swipe will get you longer lashes suitable for work (which is what I have today) a second or third coat make them much more dramatic, but i kept it simple. And as this is the third or maybe fourth tube of the Elf Black Cherry Sheer Slick, I think it is safe to say that I am fond of it. It has a slight tint, a slight gloss and it looks great with low makeup. It too is a summer standard.

Now for the not so standards products. The Rodial primer is interesting. It looks really good, feels really good to wear and does everything I want in a primer. The issue is the sent. It is menthol scented. Very Menthol Scented. It is a scent that lingers. I could still smell it after it was capped and the rest of my makeup was on top of it. As I move around it becomes less but it does take a while. I like the feel and look of the product, but that scent is a lot to overcome. I know I’ll be keeping this tube and using it up, but because of the scent I probably won’t reach for it that often. Only time will tell whether the scent means I won’t repurchase. because it really is about the scent. it is a good primer, I just don’t like menthol. It actually smells a bit like the menthol cigarettes. So not a fan of that.

The Iconic palette is one I’ve been testing and this is it’s final week of test. The shadows are a bit powdery on the brush but if you knock off the brush before you apply thee isn’t really any fall out. I did a one and done look with the shade afterparty today and it worked well. I only dipped the brush in once for each eye and this was what I ended up with. I’m rather pleased, but i also have to say that this shade is my favorite from the palette. The matte range does leave a little to be desired.

And then we come to the one sample I pulled out today. It is the sample of the Tatcha Silk powder. It came with my Kissu Lip Mask and it is one of those powders I have been dying to try out. I have been trying to weed out some of my loose powders before picking up the travel size to test out, but I figured if the sample was nice, I could go for the full sized with more confidence. So I went for the sample today. Wow. Just wow. It feels like silk on the skin. It applies beautifully without looking powdery and was just the perfect finish. I did not use up the sample but it is one of those pressed to paper samples so I am going to have to use it until it is gone because it simply can’t go into a drawer without crumbling. I think I might get two more days out of the sample. It is not a hardship to wear for two more days, but it does make me want to clear out a few other powders so that I can buy the full sized. It is just a good powder. It looks good and feels weightless. I can’t tell if there is a scent or not. To be honest all i smell is the menthol of the Rodial. It has sort of blotted out any other scents. This powder however is fantastic and is now on the top of my to be purchased list.

And so that was me today. In addition to the cat vs. bird debacle I did manage to get in an actual walk before it got too hot. This week there is also a load of rain predicted so I am glad I got that in before the rain hit. And I am actually hoping the rain does come. Watering the garden has now become a morning and evening chore so the rain would at least help a bit with the hauling of the hose and watering can (out hose doesn’t reach the back beds). The rains aren’t slated until tomorrow afternoon though so I’m hoping for another walk tomorrow morning before I become dependent on indoor workouts for the week. I like them, but they just aren’t the same. But with that, I leave you and head back to work. I hope you have a fantastic rest of the afternoon.

Pay a little, try a lot. Try Benefit’s mini collection of beauty faves.

The Daily: May 19th, 2022

Good afternoon my darlings. It has been a quite pleasant and productive day for me here. I got up a little early and took a walk first thing. Which was nice. It was humid but not overly hot when I started. By the time I got back to the house I felt like i was being smothered in a wet electric blanket, but that was at the end of the walk and I went straight into the shower. Admittedly the first few minutes I kept the water cool and then worked up to hot.

It is definitely time to start thinking about more indoor workouts.

I know, I say that a lot, but I really prefer the nice mind clearing walk in the fresh air sort of exercise to anything indoors. However as even early morning walks are now sweat and sun fests adaptations must be made. It was a great way to start the day. Lately my exercises have been pushed later and later, but I used to do them first thing in the morning. I really kind of miss that. I know I grumble, but that’s mostly because i really don’t like mornings in general. It is actually much easier to wake up, fall into the exercise clothes and get started before actually waking up completely then it is to convince myself to change clothes and begin the exercises mid afternoon.

It’s easier with walking as I can just walk when my brain needs a break. Less easy with planned workouts. I think it is because i am over all not a huge fan of perky people. And to be involved in fitness it seems you have to be perky. Plus they advertise goals that aren’t mine. I’m not trying to look bikini ready or run a marathon. I just want to get to a healthy weight zone.

I think I’d like to do an exercise video at some point. Instead of starting with things like, “Let’s get those bodies moving and feel those endorphins!” or comments about how fabulous you will look on the beach with your new bikini ready bod I think I’d start them with my own phrases.

They would include comments like “we know you’re here because your favorite jeans are a bit snug and you don’t want to break in a new pair in a larger size,’ or “You know moving is good for you after sitting in an office all day so stop whining and just get it over with.’

I admit, my workouts wouldn’t exactly be best sellers. Maybe i could just make them for me. Something to think about.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Lorac Light Source 3-in-1 illuminating Primer

Foundation: Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation

Bronzer: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

Blush: Benefit Cosmetics Gold Rush Blush

Eyeshadow: Tresluce La Flor de Mexico eyeshadow Palette

Mascara: Blinc Ultravolume Tubing Mascara

Lips: M2UNYC matte liquid Lip in SOHO

Today was mostly about the Lorac Primer. I went with the Catrice foundation because it is more matte. I really like the Catrice formula but hate the dropper dispenser. I usually just end up pouring the foundation onto my hand and dipping in with a finger. The dropper is why I don’t reach for it much even though it is a really good long wearing foundation.

It worked well with the Lorac actually. The lorac gave me shine under the matte which I like, especially as it wasn’t too much. I added a little bit of the primer as highlight over my cheek bones which worked well for me today. I have the shade dusk in the primer and the gold tones really work well with my skin. I am finding that with illuminating primers for me the gold tones work better than the clear or silver based ones. I think they look more glow and less wet and greasy. Perhaps it is just my perception, but I do like this on the high points. I am still missing the pore filling of other primers though so it is a trade off.

The Too Faced Bronzer is as always fabulous and we are entering the season where this one comes out more. It is a really nice blendable formula. It is a little dark for me in the winter but right about now it is edging into perfection.

You know I love the Gold Rush Blush from Benefit. And I know I reach for it a lot. I pulled it out today because i spend some time looking at their new blush releases. Yup that’s right, Benefit Cosmetics just released a new line of blushes. You can see theme Here. I am hoping this doesn’t mean that Gold Rush is going to be discontinued as it is one of my long term faves, but I have to admit that some of the new ones look fantastic. I am getting low in the Gold Rush Blush so I was going to order a new one soon. I may just look at one of the newer shades instead. I think they released yesterday in case you were wondering. I can’t wait to try them out.

The Blinc Tubing mascara I love. One swipe, fab lashes. What more needs to be said? Well perhaps that you need a waterproof mascara makeup remover to remove the mascara even though it technically isn’t a waterproof formula. It still defies water pretty well.

Then there was the Tresluce. I went for two of the darkest shades today using a dark green (Jardin) topped with the dark brown of Chocolate Cosmos. they blended well together, perhaps because they were so dark. But then I reached for the shimmer of green Nopal. I wasn’t expecting much but it is a beautiful green shimmer. I am in love. And I don’t say that about a lot of shimmers. I am over all a matte kind of person. But oh wow, I am in love. The dry brush didn’t work and I couldn’t find a setting spray so i used a finger tip and the green was just stunning. I can not wait to play around with the other shimmers. Nopal was just stunning and easy to use.

I think that is all of note today for both my look and my fitness plan. For now it is back to work for me. If I end up making that work out video, even if it is just for me, I’ll post it here for you to enjoy. Until then, it is back to work for me. Happy Thursday everyone.

The Daily: May 9th, 2022

Good afternoon my darlings, I hope you had a great weekend. Mine was …not so great. We had an unexpected death in the family and are dealing with the shock and sadness. This Friday we are driving down to deal with the more physical things. It will mean that Friday’s schedule will be thrown out of whack, but the rest of the week should be fairly normal. The photos may feature puffy eyes a bit more this week, but I am going on with the posts. Mostly because it helps to actually do normal things. As I am several states away I can only do e-mail notifications and phone calls instead of being on the scene, so to speak, so focusing on doing some normal things kind of helps.

As do longer walks, which honestly is more for deep breathing and escape than exercise.

I am very happy that I got into the habit of walking well before now because it really helps to have that physical escape. As for food, well the meal plan is a bit shaky. I made the stuffed peppers as I planned, but had no appetite last night. I ended up eating cinnamon raisin toast with a bit of butter. I think that is going to be played by ear as well. I’m certain at some point my appetite will come roaring back and I will deal with that, but sometimes life just is what it is.

While I did put on makeup today I am suspecting that the mascara was a really bad idea and may be left off of the rest of the week. I also discovered I have no waterproof mascara and will need to pick some up before the weekend. So…

Today’s Look:

Pre Makeup Base: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

Primer: Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer

Foundation: Kristopher Buckle Triplicity Foundation Stick

Bronzer: Trestique Bronzer Stick

Blush: Illamasqua Gel Blusher

Highlight: Saint Luxe Liquid Glow

Powder: Kim Chi Beauty Puff Puff Pass Set and Bake Powder

Eyeshadow: The Balm and the Beautiful by The Balm

Mascara: Blinc Ultravolume Tubing Mascara

Lips: Bodyography Lip Pencil in Rosewood

The Embryolisse provided much needed extra moisture this morning when I applied my makeup as my skin felt a bit salt dried. I like the pre make up base in general, but today it was a stand out assist.

When I started to put on makeup today my first thought was to test the Saint Luxe Liquid Glow. As the last two foundations I tried out had a bit of an illuminating effect I wanted to see how it worked with a matte product. As I started choosing my products however I ended up thinking about travel. I will be going out of town this coming weekend and my mind automatically drifted towards what would travel well. The Trestique, Tatcha and Illamasqua were no brainers. The Trestique has been my travel bronzer choice for several years now actually. There is the possibility that the Illamasqua gel blusher and Tatcha Primer will join them as they both have formulas that travel well and look good for long periods of time.

I took out the Kristopher Buckle Foundation stick because I do love the formula and wanted to see if it was still the right shade for my current skin tone. I don’t reach for it as often a I used to because I am not sure about the status of the company. I always used to buy these from the KB website. Now the only place i can find them for sale is Walmart. So I am nit sure what happened there and when I have some time I need to do a deep dive. If the brand is still around I will continue purchasing this foundation stick as it is a really nice product and it travels well. It is a creamy stick formula that glides easily without being too stiff and blends like a dream.

The Saint Luxe Liquid Glow that I specifically wanted to try out with different products today is proving to be more of a soft glow than an actual highlighter. I really like it, but it is far more subtle a glow than most of my highlighters. As I really don’t like a lot of bright highlights, it is actually quite nice for me. It is just a subtle hint of glow on the high points of the face. Which is perfect for office and meetings even if it isn’t all that dramatic.

The Blinc Mascara I went light on today but any mascara was really a mistake today. And I did trim my bangs over the weekend which means I should have picked out an eye brow product since you can actually see my eyebrows again, but I forgot. (I also fell asleep with wet hair so my bangs look even more uneven than they should). I actually have several eye brow pencils to test out. I go in phases with my brows. If my bangs are short I will use product, if my bangs are long enough that you can’t see them then I just use a spoolie to comb through them. And then I tend to reach for my favorite Billion Dollar Beauty Brow Pomade instead of trying out the accumulated brow pencils I keep telling myself I need to try out or pass on. It is a great formula, but I need to try out the pencils just to decide if they are staying or not.

This eyeshadow from The Balm is proving fantastic. It applies well and blends well. It is moderately pigmented but buildable. For me that is perfect. I feel I have more control than I do with some highly pigmented formulas.

Finally I am continuing my process of working through my lip liners and I went with bodyography. It is a traditional pencil and creamier than I remembered. It lines really well but was a little thin for filling in. In the end it worked well. It is slightly drying so I did find myself applying lip balm over it. I’m rather liking the color. So that is nice.

It was a fairly simple look with an eye more towards planning a travel makeup bag than anything else. Today it worked for me. Although there will be a trip to the drug store for waterproof mascara. If anyone has any suggestions I’d be happy to hear them. I generally don’t use waterproof mascara and honestly haven’t purchased it in several years.

I know this week won’t be the perkiest of Dailies, but writing them gives me a small window of normality in an otherwise chaotic week, so thanks for putting up with me this week. I hope the rest of your Monday runs smoothly.

The Daily: May 4th, 2022

Good afternoon my darlings. I hope all is going well with you today. As for me, my hair is a bit poofy again and there were some makeup issues, but we’ll get to that.

The park was still flooded and the fitness was all indoors. I sweated it out to YouTube videos. As it was more yoga than cardio there was sweating but I felt more stretched out and limber rather than completely sweated out. I know it is good for me and keeping everything limber is a good thing for life both now and in the future but I really do prefer the long walks. It takes up a lot of time, but I can use the time to sort out issues in my head or plan things. When I do yoga the only thing I tend to think is ‘I don’t think my body moves quite like that.’

well maybe that isn’t the only thing. I’m afraid I often think very mean thoughts about the instructors. They are all just a little too perky. It makes me think they are hiding something. Like a love of torturing overweight women and not telling them that they are double jointed and are missing a few vital organs and bones us normal people need to survive. I know it is just my fat getting in the way of certain movements but sometimes the things they do …

But I got through it. I’m still hoping that this week will miraculously erase the damage a month of issues added to my weight, but I am trying to maintain the workout without going crazily overboard in compensation. And yes I am a bit worried about stepping back onto the scale to confront the damage. I’ll be less focused on it once I see the numbers and then I’ll just let it go and deal with the damage. sorry to fixate, but at least it is a temporary fixation.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Ciate Dewy Skin Vitamin C Glass Glow Primer

Foundation: Yensa Super Serum Silk Foundation

Bronzer: Buxom Staycation Vibes in roof top tan

Blush: Illamasqua gel Blusher in Frission

Highlighter: Saint Luxe Liquid Glow

Powder: Kim Chi Puff Puff Pass Set and Bake Setting Powder

Eyeshadow: The Balm and the Beautiful from The Balm

Mascara: Blinc Ultra Volume Tubing Mascara

Lips: Huda Beauty Lip liner in Trophy Wife

Okay this turned out to be mostly about the primer so we will just blaze through the other products. Yensa,. Illamasqua and buxom preformed beautifully. The Illamasqua gel blusher is rapidly rising to the top of my list of fave products and I am thinking about getting additional colors so I can play with it year round. The Yensa foundation I’ve been testing and my full review will be up in the morning.

Loved the eyes, had issues with the primer

I really like the Blinc mascara although today I sneezed when it was still wet and had to deal with the fall out. But a sneeze at the wrong time can mess up any mascara. It still turned out well. It does more or less require a waterprroof eye makeup remover to remove completely, even if it isn’t the waterproof version, so be aware of that when you use it.

The Huda Beauty lip liner was a bit sticky but I ended up putting chapstick over it and that took the stickiness out. And I am now getting the hang of how much of the Kim Chi setting powder to apply to prevent a powdery look and now I love it.

I love the way The Balm shadows worked today and I like the eye look I cam e up with.

The Saint Luxe Highlighter is subtle and disappeared in the face of the primer. I think it needs to be an all over glow or paired with a natural look and a tinted moisturizer.

And so to the primer. Even though I recieved this a while back I never got around to trying it out. For a while it was primer- palooza with subscription boxes and I ended up with a lot of new ones to try, I have several actually that I still need to try out. I decided that since I knew how this foundation worked I’d try a new primer.

This primer is the Dewy Skin Primer from Ciate. First I should have tried it with an all matte foundation. Second, I think I might have applied too much, not only is it dewy to the point of greasy looking it feels heavy on the skin. One of the reasons I like serum foundations is that they feel feather light The Yensa is easy to forget that I am wearing. I felt this primer. Now it is a first use so that could be user error. I also need to check the base of the foundation and primer because they didn’t really want to work together at all. I haven’t had problems with this foundation, but today there were problems.

There was a little separation so I think the formulas might not be compatible. I am going to have to do some label reading. This looked very patchy and uneven up close. I’m not sure f that translates in the photos or if it is just an in person thing. Regardless, I did not like the result and after about an hour of wear I washed my face and spent the rest of the day au natural.

In general I like Ciate products so I don’t mind giving this one another chance. This is also why I tend to test products for at least a week before I decide if I like them or not. sometimes things don’t go so well with the first trial run. Today was not a good first use. However there is always tomorrow.. I’ll just need to spend a little time with the ingredients list before my next use of this primer.

And that was it for me today. Luckily the rest of the day is just me working alone at my desk while the rain pelts down outside. I’m thinking of using this as a face mask opportunity.

The Daily: April 13th, 2022

April showers may bring May flowers but around here they also bring thoughts of Ark building. Do you think Lowes will get angry if I ask for a lumber order in cubits?

The rain came in fits and starts yesterday, but today it has settled in for a marathon. Exercise involves me and my Yoga Mat along with hand weights. Which is fine, but being inside all day makes me a little twitchy. It never used to, but then i started incorporating regular exercise into my schedule and it feels strange to leave the walks out. But at this point I think I might need an Ark or at least a rowboat, to get through the park. It looks a bit like a lake.

And there are snakes. A lot of them. (I took an umbrella down to the park just to see if a rainy day walk could be worked in. It could not. And those snakes did not look happy about being washed down stream.)

So indoor yoga and weights today. With a side of twitchy til the rain stops.

Today’s look:

Pre makeup base: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

Primer: Elf Poreless Putty Primer

Foundation: Yensa BC Full Coverage Foundation with SPF 40

Concealer: Dior Backstage Concealer

Bronzer: Trestique Bronzer stick

Blush: Doucce Posh Powder Palette

Eyeshadow: Tarte Tarteist Pro Palette

Mascara: Blinc Ultravolume Tubing Mascara

Lips: Grande Cosmetics Plumping Liquid Lipstick

Okay we are going to start from the top. I am loving the pre makeup base. It kind of plumps up my skin with moisture before I begin so everything just applies a little better. The Elf Poreless putty is a long time fave and one I consistently repurchase.

This Yensa foundation is from their Skin on Skin line and I can see why, it feels like my skin. It is weightless and applies smoothly with no lines in the product that have to be smoothed out. Yensa sent a foundation brush with this foundation and it is just the perfect combination of stiff and soft with the bristles. I also like the shape. How it performs with other foundations I’ll have to see but it works beautifully with this foundation.

The Trestique is a long time love. It was made even better by now being refillable which cuts down on plastic waste. I for one will happily refill this over and over again.

The Doucce palette is interesting. I reach for it for one blush. The other products I’ll use if it is open, but I will only reach for the one blush in the palette that I like. I’m not sure if that is enough to keep the palette long term, but I love the blush in the shade RSVP and will use it down to pan. Then I’ll feel bad and try and work through the highlighters, which are nice, but not my favorite. If I do repurchase it will just be a single blush.

I took out the Tarte eyeshadow palette because I hadn’t used it in a while. I absolutely love the mattes in the palette. The shimmers are okay but nothing to write home about. but I love the formula of the mattes and as this is mostly a matte palette with a single row of shimmers, I really do need to reach for it more. I tend to use it as a travel palette because it has a hard case and an array of mattes, but I need to think of it when i am not traveling.

With the Grande lips, I came across this sample yesterday and realized it had enough product for one or two uses left inside. I used it today and it ran out so it will be going away. It is a formula I really like. There is a slight pluming to the formula but what I like most is that it dries down almost all the way but not quite all the way. It means that it stops leaving lip prints everywhere but it doesn’t make my lips sand paper dry, which is sort of the best in a liquid lip. But this was it’s last use and it is now going to the empties bin.

And that was todays look. And now I am going to take my umbrella and slog my way to the mail box hoping that the few bills in the box have not turned into a soggy mess. Then I will dry out and get back to my afternoon. I hope whatever you have planned for the rest of the day is simply fabulous.

The Daily: April 12th, 2022

Good afternoon my darlings. Today’s exercise was mostly a strange version of dodging rain showers. I think I might have actually gotten in an entire walk, but I had to do it in sections. I’d walk a little, feel a few drops and turn around and head home, generally making it before the skies opened up. Then I’d work a little while it rained and when I saw my break I took it, only to have it cut short by another cloud burst. After this last segment, the park was flooded so there will be no more scramble, but I feel good about getting it in.

The Easter Sales have begun so before I forget i am going to put in a few of the ones that caught my eye, incase you are looking to pick up something other than candy.

Buxom Cosmetics is having a 20% off Sale + free shipping site wide with code APRILFAM (today is the last day)

Luxie Beauty has a 30% off sitewide sale for spring going on. I absolutely adore their brushes. I have one that I know is from a discontinued line so I need to scroll through their other brushes and see if they have one of the same shape so I can replace it. (It is from the Wonder Woman line that was a limited release when the first Wonder Woman Movie came out.

And while this is not a sale, The Underclub just released something absolutely fab. it is the  Underclub X KÚR Handmade Lace Trim Cami and Short Set It is so adorable. It released on April 10th and will no doubt sell out quickly. According to the site…

Seriously, how cool is that? I just had to share. I know shorts and a cami top are my favorite summer sleepwear and I just love everything about this launch. If you are in the mood to shope, hopefully a could of those tickle your fancy.

Today’s Look:

Pre Makeup Base: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

Primer: Tatcha Silk Canvas Primer

Foundation: Yensa BC Full Coverage Foundation with SPF 40

Bronzer: Buxom Cosmetics Stacation Vibes Bronzer

Blush: bareMinerals Bounce and Blur Blush

Highlighter: Model Co Highlighting Shimmer Whip

Eyeshadow: Too Faced Cosmetics Palm Springs Dreams

Mascara: Blinc Ultra Volume Tubing Mascara

Lips: M2U NYC Matte Liquid lip

As I expected the Yensa Foundation looks less dewy with a matte primer underneath, which is fine for me. I love the Yensa Primer, but i think it will pair better with the matte foundations I wear while this needs to be paired with a matte primer. It is really a personal preference, they work well together, I am just not a dewy sort of person. Most of the time. I actually kind of liked it yesterday so every once in a while I might pair them. Today I used Tatcha. it is a great primer and works really well with this foundation.

This far I am really impressed with this foundation. It feels like a bb cream but it has full coverage which is nice. And I actually got rid of several foundations lately so I am very low on full coverage products. Isn’t it always nice when something fills a niche?

The bareminerals is a stand out favorite as is the M2U Matte liquid I will use both repeatedly until empty and then repurchase.

The Model co highlighter not so much. It worked better today because I have a matte primer but it either chooses not to blend in at all or blends almost away completely. I think it needs a really light coverage foundation in order to shine. I think I may try it with a tinted moisturizer to see how I feel about it then. Although I have to admit, when I use inted moisturizer I often forget highlighter all together so I don’t know how useful that will end up being.

I love my Palm Springs Dream palette, but when I went to look for it I couldn’t find it on the Too Faced Site. I put an Amazon link if you are interested, but I think it has been discontinued. I searched the site, which really only made me want to pick up the Natural eyes palette. I really hope it hasn’t been discontinued, but I suspect it has. So sad. I will continue playing with mine though. I adore the shimmer of Last Call.

And finally the Blinc mascara worked fabulously well. I believe that rounds out today’s look. As usual it is pretty simple but I had fun with it. and lets face it, I may admire the fancy eye looks, but everyday makeup is kind of where I live.

And I’m okay with that.
