Good afternoon my darlings. Would you believe that the temperatures dropped ten degrees overnight? We went from feeling like early fall to feeling like late fall over night. It is just so strange. It’s like the season compressed itself. Which is a shame as Autumn is my favorite season of the year. It is the one season I always want to extend. Still it is what it is.
It is a bright sunny day though, which is nice. The sun has that particular sharpness to it so that it feels like the sunbeams are slicing through the air rather than just pointing down towards the earth. There is nothing that feels warm or even particularly friendly about them.
Or perhaps that is just me. I did enjoy my morning walk and even enjoyed the way my breath puffed up in a cloud around me. Unfortunately I also had to run some errands. I think the vicious shoppers have come out early this year. usually you don’t see them until Black Friday but today they were out in force. I think it might be the early sales. Everyone had the same vision of using the early sales to do their shopping before the stores got crazy I guess. Except that enough of them had the same idea that it became a bit crazy all on it’s own.
which is kind of disturbing as I was just picking up a few things we forgot to get on our grocery/shopping run this past weekend. Apparently I paused too long in front of a toy display others wanted to raid. Note to self: look around you to see where you are stopping before stopping to check your list. I looked around to make sure I wasn’t blocking traffic, I just didn’t realize the display. I ran my hand through my hair repeatedly during the excursion so it looks a little worse for wear, but surprisingly my makeup came out of the ordeal looking okay.

Today’s look was pretty low key, but I think it turned out well. The Clarins Primer and the Pretty Vulgar foundation work really well together and made my skin look pretty good as I ran around today. I have some residual break outs on my chin, but actually in general my skin is behaving really well right now.
I am still trying to use the Becca Powder up, so I am keeping it on top of my dressing table in easy sight and grabbing range. It is great but it has been discontinued. I like the pink setting powder in general as it gives me a healthy glow, but I also know I won’t seriously look for a replacement until I use this powder up. I’ll just use it a moan to myself about how unfair it is that the powder was discontinued. I know, the whole brand went down, but still, I’ll moan. So I’ll just use it up, then look for a replacement.
I have noticed that with the weather change I have automatically started reaching more for foundations than BB creams or tinted moisturizers. I’m sure I will still use them, but as it gets colder, I do still reach for the foundations more. With the foundations, I can use the Lys bronzer more easily. It is just a little too heavy to wear with the lighter face products. It worked well today though.

I have to say I am starting to fall in love with this Doucce Blush. The shade 61 RSVP is one I really like. It is actually growing on me. Because of it I am reaching for the highlights in the palette more as well. They are okay. Not my favorite, but since I have the palette out, i don’t mind using them. Today I went with the golden shade Glisten. The name actually reminds me that I need to start thinking about my holiday looks. This year there is the possibility of holiday gatherings. Pretty much from post Thanksgiving on. they will be small gatherings, but extra festive this year. Last year the only holiday items I indulged in were one sparkly eyeshadow and a great pair of heels. For New Year’s Eve I wore both of them, along with a comfortable t-shirt and a fuzzy pair of cookie monster themed pajama pants as my baby and I grazed on a selection of appetizers I made before putting the heels on.
This year might require a bit more thought.
Possibly.
Although I did enjoy the cookie monster pjs.
But back to the makeup. I chose the Lime crime palette for a nice and easy look. I combined Flesh and Abyss. and then I added the tarte mascara. Thus far the sample size isn’t showing any signs of running out, so I am pretty happy using it. With the samples though, the mascara tends to dry out pretty fast, so I’ll be rotating it in until it is gone (and then probably ordering the full size as it is a good mascara)
The elf sheer slicks amaze me with the formula. It is comfortable to wear, hydrating on the lips and provides just the right wash of color for a low key look. I really enjoy the vitamin E. It is an extra anti chapping defense that is perfect for this time of year. It comes off as soon as you drink or eat anything, but it still looks good on. And even if it smears while you are getting trampled by holiday shoppers, its color is subtle enough that you don’t have lipstick smears showing across your face.
You know, in case that is a consideration.
But exercise done for the day and emergency shopping complete, it is back to work for me. I hope you have a great rest of the day. And remember, shopping is not a contact sport.
