Good afternoon my darlings! Today is a wonderful, glorious day. I am dancing and spinning with glee even as we speak. But what makes today so fabulous? I just finished the piece I have been editing. For the last few weeks I have had commas and paragraph points dancing in my eyes.

It has made me somewhat crazy to deal with and it has also increased the pressure around me. But now the editing is done, the new novel is in the system. Tomorrow it will be available for purchase and I will do the full announcement, but for now it is making it’s way through the computer’s system and there is literally nothing else I can do with it.

I have done my best and now everything is beyond my control.

Tomorrow of course I will worry about it and begin to suspect that I missed something vital somewhere along the way. For now I am reveling in the fantastic glory that is a completed novel.

Okay, breathing now. Happy dance becoming tamer.

This morning I went on a short walk. Once this is posted, I will probably go on a much longer walk. Then I will cool down and apply today’s face mask. I chose the Lookatme Raccoon Face Mask today. Mostly because I feel like I have spent the better part of the last two weeks with this same raccoon like expression on my face. I’ve tried the bear mask form this brand but I don’t think I have used the raccoon one. I know it is one of the line Facetory carries and is usually pretty good. This one is moisturizing and at this time of year, that is always a good bet for a face mask.

But before I get to that, I am going on a long walk where hopefully the sun, the wind and the exercises will blow the last of the punctuation fixation out of my brain.

Today’s Look:

Primer: OLE HENRIKSEN Banana Bright Primer

Foundation AoA Prowear Foundation

Bronzer: Too Faced Chocolate Soliel

Blush: Ciate London Marbled Light Blush

Powder: No 7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder

Eyeshadow: Storybook Cosmetics Little Briar Rose Palette

Mascara: ABH Lash Brag

Lips: M2UNYC liquid lip in SOHO

I’ll be honest, while I am still testing out this new foundation, i mostly grabbed products that were easy to work with. I was trying to get the last loose ends tied up and while I wanted to look decent for a later meeting, I didn’t have a lot of extra time. I went for the Too Faced Bronzer because it is darker and this foundation is just a smidge too light for me. the shade issue is easily corrected if I decide that I want to continue using the foundation. I went with the Ole Henriksen primer thought because it is one of the few hydrating primers I like and at this time of year a little extra moisture helps keep everything from looking a little powdery.

Over all I think this look turned out pretty well for me. I’m happy with all of the products I used. I need to remember to reach for the Ole Henriksen primer more actually as it is it’s time of year to shine. I can’t use it in the summer because the banana bright aspect makes me look a little too shiny for my comfort. It works really well in the colder months though. Todays look may have been quick and easy, but I am very happy with the way it turned out and it will stand me in good stead with my late afternoon/early evening meeting. Which is also a good chance to test the longevity of the foundation.

but for now, I am going on a long walk to allow my brain to switch gears. And then, I get to look at the list of other things that need to be completed before I can rest easy and slip into the holidays. Happy Thursday Everyone!

The Daily: December 14th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings. Things are a little calmer today. Deadlines are still looming and there is a rush to get things done, but the Monday morning panic has subsided. I think Mondays are just going to be panic ridden until the end of the year to be honest.

Or at least until everything is submitted and done. My goal is for that date to occur before Christmas. I can only imagine how insane the Monday after Christmas will be if that doesn’t happen. Hence the putting in a few extra hours each day to make sure the deadlines actually are met early. Then no one has to worry about things over the Christmas weekend and fear the wrath of the Monday after.

It is the curse of having a weekend holiday. It is more exaggerated as both Christmas eve and New Year’s eve are on Fridays this year, but it is always insane.

Today though, it is calmer. There was walking, even though the sunlight felt brittle as I walked through it. The sky was that bright cold blue though, which was pretty to look at even if it didn’t make the walk any warmer. I took the time for makeup today as well and I have a face mask picked out for this afternoon.

Today I am going with the Revitalizing Japanese Sake Sheet Mask from Glam Up. I have never heard of the brand before, but I find the Sake infused mask an interesting idea. Hopefully it will prove interesting on the skin as well.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional Primer

Foundation AOA Studio Pro Wear Foundation

Bronzer/Blush/Highlight/Eyeshadow: Glam on the Go palette from Amuse Cosmetics

Brows: Billion Dollar Beauty Brow Pomade

Mascara: It’s so Big from Elizabeth Mott

Lips: bareMinerals Gen Nude Liquid Lipstick in pout

Setting Spray, Peach and Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist

This week I am mostly testing the AOA foundation. It, like the Amuse Palette that provided most of my products today came from Shop Miss A. For those that don’t know Shop Miss A tends to have almost all of their products for sale for only $1. I have to say I was skeptical but I am really liking this foundation today. I think I may have gotten a shade too light, but as it is only a $1 product, I don’t mind picking up another shade if this formula works well. It blended well and is staying in place quite well too. This week I’ll be rotating through primers and other face products to see how it performs with them.

Today I used the Benefit Primer since it is a long time favorite and I know how it works. As always it works well. I think the fact that it has a slight tint to it is also helping out the foundation shade.

Most of my products came from the Glam on the Go palette also purchased for $1 on the Shop Miss A site. The highlighter isn’t my favorite and I could do with a slightly darker blush, but over all the products are pretty nice. I think it would be pretty good for travel. I also think it would be a good palette for someone just starting to dip their toes into the world of makeup. The bronzer especially is a forgiving and blendable formula that would be really good for first practicing contouring and bronzing. the eyeshadow is a little on the powdery side so you have to remember to knock off your brush, but the shades work well together and blend really well together without becoming muddy.

I went with a really simple look and used the bareMinerals lippie to go with the muted look. It is just enough color to work for me today and I like this lip gloss. It is a sample size though and I am starting to get to the end of the sample. It is one that I use often enough that I will be getting in the full size. I really like their Gen Nude Line. They are great everyday kinds of shades and formula.

I accidentally went a little heavy on the brows today. Mostly because once I started in with the pomade I realized that I really needed to sit down with a set of tweezers and go after my brows. This is my favorite brow pomade though, I just had application issues today

The Mascara is not my favorite. It does okay with lengthening if you work with it however it is one of those mascaras I am using because it is open and once it is used up I will happily let it go.

Finally we come to the Peach and Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist. Technically it isn’t a setting spray. It is however quite useful today. The Glam on the Go palette is nice but it is a bit powdery (hence why I didn’t add powder on top). Spraying the Glass Skin Veil mist and then tapping it down with my makeup sponge really helped make it look a lot less powdery. I think with that Palette the glass skin was more of a benefit than a setting spray would be. Regardless, I liked it.

So that my darlings was my makeup for today. The Prowear foundation will be in use all of this week and possibly into next as I get a feel for it and try to decide how I feel about it. At the moment I am pretty happy with the $1 foundation and am looking forward to seeing how it performs with the other products in my makeup collection.

But alas, my time of sitting and chatting with you is at an end. While I have my sheet mask moment of quiet later on today, for now I must return to work if I am to stay on schedule. Until tomorrow my darlings!

The Daily: December 8th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings. The sun is rapidly disappearing but I did manage to sneak in a walk before it vanished completely. In all honesty, I probably should have stuck to the workouts in the sunroom today. Today was cold and that wind was bitter and damp. It made my nose run, my eyes water and my lungs hurt. Not the best combo.

I will say though it did make the cup of coffee I had when I got back in after my walk feel as though it was truly the nectar of the gods. Don’t get me wrong, I love coffee and tend to drink it throughout the day. My current coffee comes from Amora so it is always good, but today it felt kind of magical. I know it probably has more to do with me and the wind than the actual coffee, but Amora does have good coffee. Oh and they have a special on right now too.

Even though I whine a little about the wind, it was actually good to get outside. It may have been cold and damp, but there was also a freshness to the air that is lacking in my indoor workouts. I suppose I could open the windows to let the breeze blow through the sunroom, but I think that might be something to do when I am not sweating through a workout. But if it is not raining tomorrow, I may just air the house out in general. I try to open up the windows and air the house once a week when I can, but with Thanksgiving followed by rain, I missed a bit of airing time. Not that it’s bad, I just really like the freshness of a good breeze to clear things out.

Of course with the way those clouds are rolling in again, no rain tomorrow might be an iffy prospect. I’ll have to play it by ear and watch the sky and weather forecast for my chance.

Inside today I have the late afternoon sheet mask to look forward to. I am going with the Aroma Blend Moisture Mask from Shangpree. It is the Esthetician Blend. I’ve used Shangpree masks before and liked them. I have no idea what an Esthetician’s blend is so that will be a fun thing to find out about. Nothing else on the masking package is in English so it will be a play it by ear kind of thing. I have my fingers crossed it is a pleasant scent.

But that is for later.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Figs and Rouge Blurring Primer

Foundation: KVD Vegan Beauty Lock it Powder Foundation

Bronzer: Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer

Blush: Floss Beauty Cheek and lip tint

Eyeshadow: Lime Crime Prelude Exposed Palette

Mascara: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara

Lips: Wet n Wild Megalast in Cinnamon Spice

Today was interesting as far as makeup went. I’m still testing out the foundation and primer but I wanted to go to a different cream blush than the Rodial that I was testing since i wanted to compare it. I know technically the Rodial is a liquid blush but I couldn’t find my two liquid/gel blushes for some reason and I remembered that I really liked the Floss Cream blush stick. I will be looking for the other blushes this evening though. I think when i tidied up I put them in a different drawer. I’m betting they are together, I am just not sure where that together place is.

i still like the Floss lip and cheek tint as a cheek tint. I tend to pick one or the other. My two Milk cheek and lip tints became lip products, this became a cheek one. I have noticed that it is starting to dry out a bit. Only the top edge though, the rest of it is fine. I kind of scraped off the top of the stick and the product was fine. It was just the very top layer. It is in a metal tube but there is some air in it unlike the Milk products with the little plastic lid inside. I’m guessing that is why the dryness occurred. I think it may be something I have to watch out for and once this is done it may be a reason to whittle down my blush collection before I repurchase it. It is a good product, but with the current number of blushes I have it doesn’t come up all that often in rotation. Definitely something to watch.

Everything else is a standard favorite. The Lime Crime Palette is one I reach for a lot and the Wet ‘n Wild lipstick is a formula I enjoy. The Marc Jacobs mascara has been a favorite for a long time, but I think it is now discontinued so I am now using it with the knowledge that it may be the last one i have. I am going to have to go on a new favorite mascara quest at some point to replace it as my favorite. Thus far I’ve had a few close but not quite as good formulas. But I’ll wait to begin my quest in earnest next year. For now it was a great mascara to use. Over all I am pretty happy with the way today’s look came out. I even like the way my newest Ear Fleek Earrings look. It is just the right amount for today.

But alas it is Wednesday and I must get back to work if i am going to plow through the remainder of the day’s tasks. I hope your Wednesday is chugging along as you want and you are ready to face the downslope of the week as we slide into the weekend. Have a great rest of the day.

The Daily: December 7th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings. Today, my nose is a little less runny and the sneezing is thankfully less. Which means that it is actually just the up and down weather and not an actual cold. Saturday the temps were in the upper sixties to low seventies (I know far too warm for this time of year) but it was warm air pushed in front of a rain storm. The rains came and it is now in the thirties. Such changes always make my nose feel somewhat offended. Hopefully the temps will settle down and we won’t have such major shifts for a while.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

I’m not counting on it though.

Even though the sun has actually started to peek through the clouds, the air is raw and damp and large portions of the walking trail are flooded, so workouts today were again in the sunroom. This time with an actual bit of sun included. I have to say the hand weights and yoga mat from Prosource Fit were a great investment. (they still have a 60% off sale going on right now). I’m not comfortable at the gym right now and sometimes weather prevents the walking trail from being used. I like having the back up of the weights and yoga inside the house.so I can still move a bit even if I don’t get my full work out in.

while I will never really be a gym sort of person, I’ve incorporated daily exercise into my routine for so long at this point that if I don’t at least get a little bit in each day I feel really off balance and twitchy. So it was You Tube Yoga and some workouts with weights today.

This afternoon’s sheet mask is going to be the I’m Lavender Mask Sheet from Tony Moly. I think I’ve used their Hemp mask before but I don’t recall using the lavender one so this will be a fun one to try. Hopefully it will be both hydrating and soothing without being overly floral. I don’t like when sheet masks are overly floral. They tend to make me feel like I should wash my face after, which sort of defeats the purpose of the mask serum in the first place. So we will see how that goes. I’ll let you know on the end of month masking recap.

For now, let’s talk makeup.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Figs and Rouge Blurring Primer

Foundation: KVD Vegan Beauty Lock It Powder Foundation

Bronzer: Trestique Bronzing Stick

Blush: Rodial Blush Drops

Eyeshadow: Storybook Cosmetics Little Briar Rose Palette

Mascara: Roen Lash Cake Black

Lips: MAC Love me Lipstick in Bated Breath

Glasses: ThinOptics

I forgot to take my reading glasses off when taking the pics. Personally, I love these readers. they are so light weight that they make no dent in the makeup and are super easy to wear. Also the case clips onto the back of my cell phone so I always have them with me. They are the MVP of my work life at the moment. Oh and if you think you may need readers but don’t know the strength, ThinOptics now has a Clarity kit so you can easily find out. My eyes have always been bad so glasses and readers have been a part of my life for a long time. And having readers I like to wear makes me squint less, so it helps with the fine lines around my eyes almost as much as the eye cream. After all not helping them to form is better than fighting the ones already there.

The primer and foundation I’ve been using for over a week now and I will be posting my full reviews on Thursday. The short version is that the primer is good at blurring and the foundation is more full coverage than I would have given powder credit for. In addition it doesn’t look all that powdery when on. Admittedly I used more cream products with it and skipped powder itself most of the time when using it, which helped.

The we have the blush drops. I like cream blushes. well, I like some cream brushes. I’m just not sure i like this one. when the drops are first placed on the skin I thought, that is a bit bright. then I blended it in and thought, where did it go. I added a little more and when blended it looked better. Of course today I think my entire face looks a bit on the pink side, but I’m not sure that is the blush. I certainly didn’t apply it on my nose. I think that might be due to the sneezing.

With the blush, it is a light pigment on the skin that easily blends away. I think I might want to try it with a BB cream to see if it lends itself more to a more natural look. In addition to the color, I am not entirely certain I like the texture of it against my skin. It is a heavier weight than some of my other cream blushes. I may actually swap it out for a different cream blush tomorrow so I can do more of a comparison, but to me it feels a little heavier on the skin. I may play around with it a bit more, but at the moment it isn’t looking like a top product for me,.

The storybook Cosmetics palette I always enjoy using, as long as I stay away with the blues. It is the rosier tones in this palette that I really like. The shades can be a bit powdery so tap off your brush before applying. They do blend well without becoming muddy. However they also tend to fade a but by the end of the day. You will still know you have eyeshadow on after eight hors of wear but it won’t be nearly as vibrant.

It you are interested in the palette, when I went to grab a link for reference I say that it is on sale. Usually it is $55 but right now it is $15. I think several of their other palettes are on sale as well. It is good eyeshadow, just remember to tap your brush and not to expect it to last for a full 12 hours. It’s big drawback is it’s size which is why I have it out as a decorative element rather than in the drawer. It simply takes up a lot of space. The book design is cute though. So at least it looks nice out.

The Roen mascara is a good basic mascara. It works well, but there is nothing spectacular about it. I will happily use this until it is done, but once gone I will see no real reason to repurchase it.

And finally we reach the lips. MAC is a long time favorite for the lips (although there aren’t a liot of their other products I really gravitate towards). This is a great color for me and feels very comfortable to wear. It is one I will continue to use and one that I will certainly replace when it is gone.

So that my darlings was today’s makeup look, the good, the bad, the indifferent. Well maybe indecisive would be a better descriptor than indifferent. either way there are products I love and products I will just use for now.
