The Skincare Lineup: November 18th, 2022

Good morning my darlings and welcome to the Friday Skincare line up. Here we discuss all of the products in my line up and how I feel about them. As you can see we have a couple of changes but most everything is still in motion from last week. Let’s dive in and see how all the products are playing with each other, shall we?

Cleanser (day time): Glam Glow Supercleanse Clearing Cream to Foam Cleanser

Cleanser (night Time): Milk Wash Exfoliating Jelly Cleanser from Beekman 1802

Toner: Elemis Superfood Fruit Vinegar Liquid Glow

Serum (night Time): Ole Henriksen Truth Serum (night)

Serum (day time): Beekman 1802 Collagen Electric Daisy and Peptide Booster (day)

Eye cream: MZ skin Eye cream

Moisturizer: OGEE Velvet Botanical Moisturizer

Lip Mask: Tatcha Kissu lip mask

I know a lot of this looks similar to the week before but there were some exciting changes this week. Forst let’s look at the cleansers. The Glamglow has been in for a few weeks at this point and I really like it. It’s strength is pulling clogged pores to the surface. It’s weakness is leaving gray charcoal film all over the sink so that it needs to be wiped down after every use. (I wipe it down while I am brushing my teeth actually and it works well, just don’t let it dry).

but for every clogged pore brought to the surface, an exfoliator is needed to send it on it’s way. This week I rolled in the Milk Wash From Beekman 1802. It is an exfoliating Jelly cleanser. And it is a really interesting product to use. It dispenses like a clear jelly and you apply it to a dry face. I remove my makeup pat my skin dry and let my skin dry off completely before I go in with this cleanser. As I take my makeup off after dinner and don’t wash my face until bedtime it works well for me. The cleanser feels almost like a light Vaseline on the skin. It foams up a but when you add water and wash it off. Th9is was it’s first week of use but I can feel that with the one two punch of clearing cleanser in the morning and exfoliating cleanser at night my face is clearer.

You know I love Elemis and you know I love this toner. It works well and I think the scent of it is just fabulous. It’s a bit like a fermented apple cider. So perfect for the time of year and yet still fresh feeling.

With the serums I suppose I could layer them but i tend to like my Vitamin C serums in the night so I just reach for the Collagen serum in the morning and the Truth Serum at night. Even when there is sun out, this Truth Serum is fine for me to use during the day. I’ve used it before and had no sun sensitivity from it. the collagen booster is helping to lock in moisture during the day. It is slightly stick even after it sort of dries down but applying a moisturizer right after it has had time to settle ends the stick factor so that it isn’t a problem. the truth serum doesn’t have any issues with stickiness. It also smells like freshly squeezed orange juice. I suppose that should make me want to use it in the morning but there is something nice about using it in the evening. Both serums work well with the moisturizer I am currently using.

This week I finished up the night cream I was using so I used the OGEE for both morning and night time application. It worked well until about Wednesday. And I think the reason things changed was the central heating. Until now it has only kicked on a few times a night. Starting around Wednesday it kicked on repeatedly during the day and then ran most of the night. The more the heat kicks on the drier my skin becomes. The OGEE moisturizer is a fantastic day cream and I can continue to use it as a day cream, but i am going to need to bring in a night mask at least twice a week if I am to continue using this as my full time moisturizer while the heat is running.

I don;t mind that actually. I am perfectly fine having a day cream and a night cream. In the warmer months it isn’t that big a necessity. It is only in the winter when the temperatures drop and the indoor air becomes dry that I need a day time and night time moisturizer. It is a split that occurs pretty much every time the seasons change. So I will be rolling in a Night mask a couple of times a week until I reach the end of this moisturizer. other than that, I really enjoy the OGEE moisturizer. And I love that it is clean skincare.

I can’t say that I love the MZ Skincare eye cream. It is okay. It isn’t too heavy and I haven’t noticed any real clogging of the pores where I apply it (for me that is an area that gets clogged pores easily) but I haven’t really noticed too much in the way of line plumping of the crow’s feet either. it is still early thought. I am just at the thirty day mark with this eye cream so maybe I will wake up on day 31 with baby smooth skin. It is doubtful of course. I will keep using it until I get back from Thanksgiving (because it is open, small and easy to travel with). After that i will do a bit more of an evaluation.

And then finally we have the lip mask. The Tatcha Kissu lip mask is still working fantastically well. I am trying to finish out the Sephora lip scrub. It is less fantastic. It is one of those products that is okay and if I was trying to get my order up to get free shipping I would add to the cart, but it isn’t something I would specifically go to Sephora to order. It is fine to use if you come across it, just not worth seeking out.

And so that is my skincare line up this week, the good, the not so good and the forgettable. There really wasn’t anything bad, but there were a few fabulous items and a couple I can’t want to see continue on to hopefully show results. And now we dive into the work day that is Friday. I hope you have a fantastic one.

The Skincare Lineup: November 11th, 2022

Ah, here we are again my darlings, the skincare line up, my favorite post of the week. Don’t get me wrong I love the other posts, but skincare is my true love. I can bore people to tears with my discussion. So I save it up and bring it all here. You will notice that I did not put the ExfoliKate from Kate Somerville in the line up this week. I have been using it about twice a week, however i used it this past Saturday and my skin got a bit red and itchy. That hadn’t happened before with the Kate Somerville, but I decided to skip it for a little while while I figure out if my skin just had enough of the product or if it was reacting with one of the newer products in the line up. While several products are still in motion, I did have two new ones enter the line up this week, the Beekman 1802 Collagen Boost and the OGEE Velvet Botanicals Moisturizer. Both are actually designed for sensitive skin and I used them each with no problems. It was just when it came into contact with the Exfolicate that the itchiness happened. So I am going try and figure out what is going on before I use it again. The rest of the products I used all week with no issues whatsoever.

I’ll look into it and get back to you. And I doubt you are using the exact same line up as I am right at this very moment as I am using a random collection of products rather than a set, but I figured I’d mention it in case it comes up with you.

So on to the line up!

Cleanser: Glam Glow Supercleanse Clearing Cream to Foam Cleanser

Exfoliator: Kate Somerville Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment (not used this week, due to itchy redness, see above)

Toner: Elemis Superfood Fruit Vinegar Liquid Glow

Serum: Ole Henriksen Truth Serum (night)

Serum: Beekman 1802 Collagen Electric Daisy and Peptide Booster (day)

Eye cream: MZ skin Eye cream

Moisturizer: OGEE Velvet Botanical Moisturizer

Night Time Moisturizer: Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair

Lip Mask: Tatcha Kissu lip mask

Okay let’s start with the cleanser. The Glamglow cleanser is really bringing up buried clogged pores. I am actually really impressed with it’s work. It does leave a charcoal film on the inside of my sink so I do find myself wiping it out a bit more than usual, but the cleanser is great at clearing out the pores. And since it is a clearing cleanser, it is nice to have it do what I expect. I think I am about half way through the tube of cleanser. I am thinking of rolling in a second cleanser though, to use in the evenings. I just received an exfoliating cleanser from Beekman 1802 (subscription box) and i am thinking of using that in the evnings and the Glamglow in the mornings. Partially because I am very curious about the exfoliating jelly cleanser, but mostly because i know I am going to need to roll in an exfoliator if I keep using the Glamglow. It just brings too many things to the surface not to have a routine exfoliator with it.So I get to indulge my curiosity and be practical all at the same time.

Fabulous!

I know this is a strange thing to say about a toner, but I really like the scent of this Elemis toner. I know it is mostly about how the products work (and it does work fantastically well) but I really like the scent. Maybe it is because of the time of year. It has almost a fermented apple cider vibe going for it. it is a little lighter and a little fresher, but that is sort of the scent. And I really like the toner. Now that I’ve figured out how hard to press so that I can dispense the product without causing it to fountain. I also like that when it dries down it isn’t sticky. Sometimes toners can leave a little bit of a sticky film on the skin and I like to feel like my toners are taking the last of the nasties from my skin, not adding a layer.

I switched the Truth Serum to night time use because with the brightening toner I didn’t feel like I needed it twice a day. Plus I love this serum and only using it once a day helps it last longer. I’ve used this Ole Henriksen serum before (a couple of times) and my skin always reacts well to it and looks good. I just don;t have a lot of dark spots so using less still gives me the same glowing skin.

It also let me roll in a collagen serum, and while i may not have dark spots, and a terribly uneven complexion (even though I love the vitamin C) I do have a multitude of fine lines. I know, time man, in the end it will get us all. But if I can plump up some fine lines and at least delay the inevitable a little while, I am all for it. The directions for this booster are to either add a drop or two to the moisturizer or to apply it directly for a more powerful boost. I used it on it’s own. Its not that I am looking for a stronger boost, I just don’t like mixing things with my moisturizer. I like layers to my skincare.

I’m sure it would be fine either way, but somehow my brain thinks of the moisturizer as the final layer that locks everything down. And yes, in my mental image mixing something into the moisturizer is like putting holes in the fence. It lets in those pesky free radicals that get in like those rabbits got into my garden.

I know it really doesn’t work that way, but that is my mental picture and so I layer skincare.

I never claimed to be logical.

I do like this collagen booster though. I still have to restrict myself to a drop or too or it is too wet on the skin. I am curious as to how it will work as the level of the product drops lower in the bottle. Itis a very short dropper and a very rounded bottle. But that I will fin out in time. For now, the serum is nice.

The MZ Skin Eye cream is good. I really hate to say this but I would probably like this eye cream more if I didn’t know how much it costs. It is a good solid eye cream. It goes on well and doesn’t clog the pores. Is it my favorite? No. both the Perricone MD Hypoallergenic Firming Eye Cream ($72 on Dermstore) and the Dr. Brandt DNA Triple Peptide Eye cream ($82 on the Dr. Brandt site) I’ve used in the past are much better eye creams in my opinion. This is okay but not spectacular. It is a $95 eye cream (on Dermstore, it is pricier on other sites). It sort of puts the eye cream in the same playing field as the Periconne MD and the Dr. Brandt, pricewise. Performance wise it is not worth that price. It is a good solid eye cream but not a spectacular one.

I have two moisturizers in the line up this week. This was the first week for the OGEE moisturizer and i did like it. it absorbs well without leaving a greasy film and the aloe and jojoba scent of the cream (very light scent) is a nostalgic one for me. It is a first week of use so there aren’t any startling reveals but it is a good solid moisturizer filled with all sorts of organic goodness that my skin likes. because I am finishing up the tatcha cream i am using as night cream, i have only used this during the day. As the Tatcha sample is empty now I will be using it as my only moisturizer this week. My one concern is that his moisturizer is rather light and has more of a day cream feel to it. I’ll see how it performs this week as a solo act. I may be surprised. I do know that I really like it as a day cream though.

And alas the Indigo Overnight repair cream I have been using as my night cream is now empty. (I do have a second sample size, but I am going to leave it in the drawer for now.) I really did like this. It would definitely be too much to use as anything but a night time moisturizer, but it is actually designed for night time use. As a deluxe sample I was able to use it enough to know that I will pick this up for a full sized trial at some point. I love that it had no scent to it and was just a really good light weight but heavy duty moisturizer. I went to bed looking a bit glazed, but my skin wasn’t sticky and the cream absorbed into my skin rather than the pillow. It is one I will try out for longer.

And of course we finish with the Kissu lip mask. I prefer the original to the tinted and will continue using it until it is done. and then I will repurchase it. It is a great over night treatment and I am fond of the consistency.

And so my darlings that is me today. It is not intensely different from last week as there are a lot of products still in motion. But with skincare, drama is usually something to avoid. At the moment I have a good line up of solid products. Now I just need to keep using them to see if they yield the expected results.

The Skincare Lineup: November 4th, 2022

I realized after I took the above picture I forgot to add in the Tatcha Lip mask and the MZ eye cream but did grab the two items that I will be rolling in over the weekend, the Beekman 1802 Collagen Booster and the OGEE Hydraganics Velvet Botanical Moisturizer. I did a first use test with the Beekman Collagen Booster and liked it, but forgot to use it this week. With the moisturizer I finished the sample i was using and will be using the OGEE to replace it tonight, so a first use post will be up on Monday, you know, after I actually use it. So think of those two as spoilers for what is coming into the line up next week, i suppose. But let’s jump into the products I used this week.

Cleanser: Glam Glow Supercleanse Clearing Cream to Foam Cleanser

Exfoliator: Kate Somerville Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment

Toner: Elemis Superfood Fruit Vinegar Liquid Glow

Serum: Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

Eye cream: MZ skin Eye cream

Moisturizer: Tatcha The Dewy Skin cream

Night Time Moisturizer: Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair

Lip Mask: Tatcha Kissu lip mask

The Glamglow cleanser really brings up the buried clogged pores. I have actually been really impressed by it. Its a good cleanser in general and then it helps bring things to the surface. It might not be the cleanser I would want to use just before I planned to go to an event because it does pull things to the surface, but if you were planning an event in say a month’s time, i think this would be an excellent cleanser to get your skin ready.

pairing it with an exfoliator has helped a lot with dealing with the things the cleanser brings up. This Kate Somerville is listed as intense and that is what it is. The max time you should have it on your face is 2 minutes and while I did manage to keep it on for two minutes, I was not going to keep it on for any longer than two minutes. My skin was a bit red after but that faded quickly (within a few minutes of rinsing it off). And then my skin looked great after. it looked even better the next morning. I used it Friday evening and then again on Tuesday. I know it says you can use it up to three times a week, but twice a week is plenty for me. I’ll use it again tonight and then again on Tuesday and be pleased with it. This far it has been a really good treatment, especially paired with the cleanser.

Because the cleanser has charcoal in it, the toner pads are never really going to look spotless after I use them. But it is only the hint of charcoal on the toner pads and not left over makeup (just a gray tinge no foundation, blush, lipstick or eyeshadow colors)This Elemis is a really good toner, the thing to remember though is not to press too hard on the top or you can dispense too much product. And put the toner pad on top of the dispenser so you don’t have a fountain. whoile it is a good toner in general, I really like the scent.

One pump of the Ole Henriksen is all I need from the Truth serum. I think it is doing well to brighten my skin. It has only been a week so it has minimal results, but I love that it absorbs so quickly and leaves no sticky residue behind after it dries. It is a little sticky until it dries and then poof no stick and skin that has fully absorbed the serum. I do miss a collagen serum though which is why i will be adding one. (especially since i already have it open).

The last three products are all Tatcha, the lip mask I love and will continue using and repurchasing, the night cream and the day cream. Lets talk about the Dewy skin cream first. It is a lot of moisture. It is thick, rich and hydrating. If you have dry skin your skin will love it. I have normal to combination skin that is entering the dry phase of the year. This is the time of year i can use it. Any other time of the year it is too much on the moisture level. As it is I applied the moisturizer and then had to let it sit. For me it took a while to absorb. It was worth it as my skin felt great after it absorbed, but it was not a quick process. It is the last step in my morning skincare routine so after I applied the moisturizer I could have my coffee and answer e-mails, generally starting my day, but I had to wait for it to absorb before I could apply makeup over it. I did notice that I did not need my pre makeup base of Embryolisse when using this moisturizer. By the time it did absorb and I started my makeup my skin was as hydrated as it needed to be.

I will say though that I did not have this problem when i use the water cream. i know it isn’t much of a problem but it is something to note. while I do like this Dewy cream, I think for me, because of my skin type and absorption time I would use this as a night cream rather than a day cream. My skin lust leans more towards the Water Cream from Tatcha than it does this one. And finding things like that out is why I use the samples to begin with. it lets me know which cream I might want to use in the future. If repurchased this would be a night cream for me, and the water cream a day cream. this sample is now empty though so I will be switching moisturizers this evening.

Speaking of night creams I was using the Tatcha Indigo Overnight repair. I still have some left (as well as a second sample size of this cream) so it will continue into the next week. Unlike most of Tatcha’s other products this has no scent to it. The Indigo cream is thick and it feels thick when applied. However it actually absorbs faster than the dewy cream. I think that something in the Dewy nature of that cream makes it absorb slower. Quite Honestly of all of the tatcha moisturizers i have tried this is my favorite. It is also the one I am mostly likely to buy in a full size. I know they have kits and skincare bundles. I am goin to be looking into them soon (for my purchase and the holiday postings) but I may look seriously at the Indigo line because of this cream. It is the right level of moisture for me at night and it is something I will happily continue using.

And so my darlings, that is my skincare line up this week. Next week there will be a new moisturizer and an added serum, but most of these products will be continuing on. At the moment all of them are performing well. It will be interesting to see how they perform over time and what the actual results will be once they have been used long enough to cause effects. Which is of course one of the reasons I write this post. But that is something only time can reveal. And so we move forward continuing to use the products until all is revealed.

or until I have to send them to the empties bin. But for the line up this week that is all. Have a great Friday everyone.

The Skincare Lineup: October 28th, 2022

Last week I had a full line up of the Eight Saint’s discovery kit. There were a few products in there that i liked enough to try out in the full size and at the beginning of the week I used up the last of the products in the containers and rolled in this week’s line up. When I can I like to roll in a product at a time rather than start all new products on the exact same day. I find it keeps my skin from freaking out over too much change and it also helps me know which product or interaction between products is causing any issues if they arise.

So some of these products have had a few more days in the line up than others. In fact last night was my first night with both the eye cream and the night time moisturizer. The eye cream I have had before but the night cream is completely new. still, let’s dive into the line up, shall we?

Cleanser: Glam Glow Supercleanse Clearing Cream to Foam Cleanser

Exfoliator: Kate Somerville Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment

Toner: Elemis Superfood Fruit Vinegar Liquid Glow

Serum: Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

Eye cream: MZ skin Eye cream

Moisturizer: Tatcha The Dewy Skin cream

Night Time Moisturizer: Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair

Lip Mask: Tatcha Kissu lip mask

While I did a first use review on this cleanser, after a few days I am noticing some effects that I think are based on it’s use. This is a clearing cleanser and has a lot in common with the clearing masks from Glamglow. As I am using it, I am noticing that there are clogged pores being brought to the surface. As some of them are quite deep and I have been trying to bring up for a while, I am quite pleased by this development. I liked the cleanser just for the clean it gave my skin, but I really like this aspect of it.

It is also why I have rolled in the Exfolikate from Kate Somerville. I did a first use of this but then I set it aside as the Eight Saints had an Exfoliator in the kit and I wanted to see how it worked. Now I will be rolling this back in for regular use and I am hoping it works well with the cleanser to clear away some of my deeply clogged pores. It is in the line up, but first use back in the line up will be tonight.

Elemis is one of my favorite brands. Every product I have tried from them has worked well for my skin and I have never had any adverse effects. I am always willing to try another of their products. Mostly because I am positive it will not break me out. This toner has a scent that is like apricot with a vinegar back to it. Given the name that makes a lot of sense. It is a good toner and I really like the dispenser for it. Just remember to put the cotton pad, or reusable round over the the hole in the top before pressing down or the toner will fountain up. I find one pump is all I actually need for the amount of product I need on my face so I imagine I will get a lot of use out of this bottle.

The Ole Henriksen I used for the first time this morning as I was finishing out the serum from Eight Saints. One pump was more than enough to cover my face and neck. This Vitamin C serum absorbs quickly with no stickiness and it is quite a lovely glass bottle on top of that. I think I am really going to get a good use out if this. I think i might roll in a collagen serum to pair with this as well, but thus far, I like it.

This MZ Skin Eye cream I have used before. I received it in a subscription box, tried it, liked it and then set it aside for some reason. I can’t remember what. Since it was open I rolled it back into the line up to use up. This far I am liking it. It is a thick cream. I think it is a little over priced, but I do like that it is a thick cream that absorbs well and quickly into the skin. Who knows, with regular use I may see that it is worth its rather large price tag. For now I am happy using it.

My moisturizer is currently a deluxe sample of the Tatcha Dewy skin. I know and love the Water cream. I have tried the Dewy Skin cream and for most of the year it is too much moisture for my skin. (I am normal to combo skin wise). the Tatcha Water Cream is great for me, but in the winter I find I can only use it during the day and at night it is not enough. With the weather cooling down and the heat clicking on more and more often, this is proving to be a good daytime moisturizer for me right now. The scent is a little strong, but it is a scent I like so I don’t mind. It is the same scent as The Silk Canvas Primer actually. My only issue right now is that it does take a little while to absorb into the skin. I generally find myself finishing with the moisturizer and then letting it settle with a cup or two of coffee before i attempt to put my makeup over it. It is a moisturizer that on me at least needs time to settle in.

I had only one use of this Indigo cream thus far but I do like it. It is fragrance free so if you have issues with scent this might be something to look into. It is a thick cream, but oddly it absorbs faster than the Dewy Cream. I had no issues with it absorbing, My skin drank it in and this morning I was pleased with how soft my skin felt. It was a first use, so my skin could have been just extra dry for the night, but I have no problem continuing to use it and see how it works over time. while this is a deluxe sample, I do have a second deluxe sample that I might just roll into use right after this one. It will clear out some samples and give me a better idea of how the night cream works.

Also I am using the Tatcha samples now so I can get a better feel for them before I dive into their skincare kits. They have several that are available throughout the year, but there are more kits coming for the holidays so I am trying to decide which products I would really like to look at purchasing in the full size.

And finally we round out the line up with another Tatcha product. That’s right, it is the lip mask. I love this lip mask and while in the warmer months I will occasionally skip lip treatments at night, I find using a mask like this every night helps prevent the winter chapped lips. For me this is important because in general I tend to find that i will pick at my lips once they get dry. I don’t do it intentionally, it is something I do when i am working on something else and not thinking. It causes a lot of trouble. So it is is much better for me if they never reach that chapped stage. It is why the nightly lip mask from now until Easter is a key facet of my skincare regimen.

And so my darlings that is me today. Or this week technically. All of these products will be with me going into next week (and beyond actually as they are just started)I am actually quite pleased with how all of them are performing actually so i have no problems continuing to use them. And tonight I will roll the Exfoliator into the routine on a regular basis. And so on we go. Have a great Friday everyone.

First Use: GlamGlow SuperCleanse

There are several products by Glamglow that I really like. Their Youthmud face mask is one of my go to facemasks and one I really enjoy using when I really need a fresh faced feeling and a deep cleanse. A while back however I did try a cleanser from Glamglow that I wasn’t too fond of so I have to say I did approach this cleanser wondering which side of the spectrum it would fall into.

The Glamglow Supercleanse Clearing Cream to Foam Cleanser is described as…

A daily deep cleaning cream-to-foam cleanser with detoxifying charcoal, lactic acid and glycolic acid that blasts away pore-clogging oils, debris and face makeup for super clean skin.

Ingredients: Water\Aqua\Eau, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, Charcoal Powder, Propanediol, Kaolin, Carbon, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Powder, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Nigella Sativa Seed Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Chloride, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Xanthan Gum, Caprylyl Glycol, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891) <ILN44277>

Glamglow

The description is fairly typical for a cleanser. It is meant to cleanse the face. What I found interesting is that many of the Ingredients in my favorite Glamglow Youth Mud Mask are also here. The kaolin clay, Eucalyptus, Peppermint and licorice root are all items i associate with their face mask. When I opened and dispensed the cleanser for the first time I discovered the cleanser smells more or less like the mask.

Personally i found this exciting. Licorice is the dominant scent with the eucalyptus and peppermint blending in as back notes. It is a clean and fresh scent that pairs well with the slightly earthy notes from the clay. Unlike the mask it is a smooth paste with no leafy bits from the herbs, which is nice to have in a cleanser.

cleanser on

I really liked that it applied in a similar way to a mask. I could dispense it into my hands and massage it into my skin and it looked as though I applied a mask. Personally I enjoy this thicker sort of cleanser as it lets me know I have covered my entire face with the cleanser. Once applied to damp skin I wet my hands and began washing my face. The clay turned to foam and rinsed away clearly and cleanly from the skin.

cleanser off

My skin felt really good. It isn’t as intensely clean as when the mask is rinsed off the face, but it has some of that same freshness. Since this was a first use, I don’t have any real results to share other than this was a cleanly rinsing mask that did go from cream to foam. It made my skin feel clean and not stripped. when I used a toner after cleansing my face there was a bit of charcoal left on the toner pad, but my face was clean. I will be using this cleanser, well, until it is gone. I can say that I am honestly looking forward to it. My big problem with the last toner I tried from Glamglow was that it left a bit of a residue on the skin so it never really felt clean. This Supercleanse from Glamglow does not seem to have this problem and I am happy to keep it in my skincare line up. It will be interesting to see if there are more, longer term use benefits other than just clean skin.

The Skincare Line Up: January 28th, 2022

Good morning my darlings! We have reached my favorite post of the week. The weekly skincare line up. For the next few minutes I get to blather on about skincare to my heart’s content. Focusing on the products I used this week of course. And this week there was a little more separation between the day time use and the night time products which means even more things to talk about. Woot. So let’s see how everything worked.

The Daytime Line Up

Cleanser: Malin + Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser

Toner: Kopari Coconut Rose Toner

Essence: 111Skin Antioxidant Energizing Essence

Serum: Grace and Stella Hyaluronic Acid Serum

Eye Cream: Clarins Total Eye Lift

Moisturizer: Polaar Eternal Snow Youthful Promise Cream

Oh, my darlings there were some good products in this day time list. First of all there is the grapefruit cleanser. I love the grapefruit scent. It is the perfect way to wake up in the morning. It is invigorating and it is simply a fabulous cleanser. I’ve lost track of how many times I have purchased this cleanser. And I will always repurchase it. I have noticed that my cleanser is getting suspiciously light, suspiciously fast. I suspect my babydoll has been borrowing it. He has a weakness for grapefruit and he commented on the scent this past weekend. Also it isn’t always in the place I left it when I return to my bathroom. He gets up a little earlier than I do and I think he has been using it. Which is fine, I don’t mind sharing, I just think it is a bit amusing.

This Kopari toner is one I go back and forth on. I love the bottle and the spray as the toner comes out. And I find I waste less product with the spray format for toners. In addition, this toner is fantastic. My skin feels soft and well toned with this toner. But that coconut rose is a bit of a strange scent to me. It smells a bit like they couldn’t decide if they wanted to go coconut and rose so they just smacked them together. It is a bit like they poured coconut water into something rose scented to dilute it. It isn’t a bad scent, it just always seems odd when I smell it. The scent isn’t off putting so I have no problem using the toner up completely, but it is just a little odd. It does work really well so that does make a difference.

One of the few products that is a current staple is the 111 Skin Essence. I really like this essence. It makes my skincare routine feel like a spa visit and even better it really does boost the efficacy of the the other products around it.

Those who have read this site before know that I am a huge fan of Hyaluronic acid. It is one of my skin’s BFFs. I picked up this HA serum from Grace and Stella as an IPSY Add-on. Since I only had one serum in my line up, I bumped that to night time use and rolled this in for the day. It is a deluxe sample size But for grace and Stella I have only used masks. I love their sheet masks, and their eye patches I have on repeat purchase lists. I have event tried (and loved) their not sheet masks. But I hadn’t tried any serums from them. I figured since I like HA serums to begin with it would be a nice intro into their other products. I’ve only been using it for a few days, but this far it has been a really good addition to my line up. There is no scent to the serum, I only need about two drops of it and my skin drinks it in. I am actually quite thrilled with this serum. Abd even though it is a sample size, I might actually get a full month’s worth of use out if it given how little needs to be used. We shall see. I certainly won’t complain if it sticks around a whole month.

The Clarins eye cream will not be lasting a month. I put it in the morning line up and this little sample tube is already empty. I think I ended up with three morning uses out of it. The tube felt almost empty when it arrived. This is the second one of these Clarins Eye Lift samples I’ve had and it was the same with the other. I will say I really do like the way the product feels on the few days I got to try it, but I honestly didn’t have enough of a sample to determine any sort of effectiveness. I can say that in the three days of use it didn’t actually clog any pores. And it absorbed well. I like it, I just can’t tell you if it did anything.

And finally we get to the day time moisturizer. This one is interesting because I recieved a sample of the Eternal Snow Cream in one subscription and the full sized one in a different one this month. I’ve tried several Polaar Products and liked them and I have several more in my samples box to try out. I put the sample size of the Eternal Snow in the line up because I figured if I didn’t like it then I could pass along the full sized one un opened. Yeah, that’s not going to happen. I really like this moisturizer. I put it in the morning line up, because I already have a night time moisturizer, but I think this moisturizer could work for both day and night. It has a light floral scent to it, but it mostly smells just fresh and clean. It is a large sample so I am going to happily keep using the sample until it is gone. I will keep rotating sample sized products into the line up until the full sized moisturizer I am using at night is empty and then I will give the full size of this Eternal snow a trial. But after a week of use, I am really enjoying this moisturizer and look forward to a full trial of the full sized version in the near future.

The Night Time Line Up

Cleanser: Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser

  • currently this cleanser is 30% off and in my opinion, so worth stocking up

Essence: 111Skin Antioxidant Energizing Essence

Serum: Serumkind Purple Cabbage Drops

Eye Cream: Glam Glow Bright eyes (discontinued)

Moisturizer: Kate Somerville Exfolikate Glow Moisturizer

Lip Mask: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

As always the Elemis Cleanser was fabulous. While it is a great scent all around, I really like it as a nce scent to unwind and take the day off with. I know the marine collagen line gets all of they hype (and deserved hype at that as they are very good products) but this cleanser really should be talked about more. I love washing my face with this and just letting my bare skin hang out for a bit as I enjoy the clean feeling. And then going back in later with the other products. It just makes my skin feel good. Currently this cleanser is 30% off, which I think brings the cost doen wot $10.80. Quite frankly it is a steal. I have actually been looking at my drawer of cleansers and have been trying to justify picking up another bottle of this. At the moment I have a lot of cleansers to work through so I may not be able to justify it. But I really want to stockpile this cleanser. I really like other cleansers, including the M+G from the daytime line up, but honestly if i had to choose only one cleanser, this would be it. I’ll admit that part of that is because I love the scent of Lime Blossoms but the rest is because it is just such a great cleanser.

I can not be as effusive in praising the Serumkind serum. I’m sure the Purple Cabbage drops do wonders in protecting me from environmental contaminants. And just because I can’t see the effects doesn’t mean they aren’t doing something. But this serum is becoming an annoyance in my skin care routine. It is simply too thick for the size of dropper that they have with the bottle. And I know that it was chosen for aesthetic reasons. And I will be the first to admit that the long slim squared off bottle looks great. I even love the look of the lavender colored serum. But as good as it looks on the shelf, the serum is simply too thick to be effectively pulled into the thin dropper. I have taken to simply removing the dropper and shaking out a bit of the serum onto my hands or use. The issue there is that I often shake out too much serum this way, where as the dropper gives too little. I am starting to find reasons to ‘forget’ to use this serum. I think I might have used it three times this week because I just didn’t want to. I think what I am going to do this week is leave it on the skin care shelf and try to remember to use it, but roll in an additional product that I can use every day and then just use the serum when i feel bad about the waste. That way I will eventually use it all, and get whatever benefits it has without annoying myself every evening as I attempt to use it. I appreciate pretty things, but with skincare it has to be a pretty thing that works. even if this serum works, the pretty, pretty packaging is not helping it out.

The Kate Somerville continues in it’s use. I really like it as a night cream and I am trhilled I rolled in another product to use for the day. This was just too heavy for my skin durihng the day. At night, it is fantastic. The scent is a little lemon cleaner-y, but it isn’t too overpowering and I am willing to continue using it because I like it enough to ignore the scent. And to be honest, the scent is relatively easy to ignore.

The Laneige is my chapped lips savior this winter and I can not praise it enough. The more I use it the more I want to just get multiple scents of it so that I can rotate them around. I am a big fan. I also tend to use it on my lips when I run around with my mask on. Since I have the mask I know I’m not going to eat or drink anything and a little extra masking time for my lips at this time of year is not a bad thing. It is an unexpected benefit of wearing a face mask.

So that my darlings is the line up from this week. There was some good, and one major annoyance. I don’t know why it bothers me so much when product packaging gets in the way of an actual product. I think it is because I know that somewhere, someone made the conscious decision to make all of the bottles the same size and shape for consistency in appearance and for aesthetics’ sake without actually thinking about the product inside. I like pretty things, i do but i am also a big believer in form following function. I think that what just sort of puts me in a ranting kind of mood. I apologize for the rant, and hope it wasn’t too much for you. I just couldn’t hold it in. But now I will leave you, calm down as I get to work and then rejoin you later with a much calmer frame of mind for the Friday Face Mask. Until then, have a fabulous Friday.

The Skincare Line Up: January 21st, 2022

This week I started to diversify between day time use and night time use a little bit more. Mostly in the form of my cleansers. This coming week I’ll roll in a night time serum as well as a new day time moisturizer sample to try out since the one i am using in the day has only a little bit left. But we’ll get to that in a moment. First, let’s see what the day time line up had in store for this past week.

The Daytime Line Up

YCleanser: Malin +Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser

Toner: Glow Recipe Watermelon Pore Tight Toner

Essence: 111Skin Antioxidant Energizing Essence

Serum: Serumkind Purple Cabbage Drops

Eye Cream: Glam Glow Bright Eyes

Moisturizer: Comfort Zone Hydramemory Cream Gel

Okay this week was a bit of a rollercoaster. We’ll start with a high. This week i decided to use the Malin+ Goetz grapefruit cleanser in the morning. This used to be one of my go to cleansers and then as I started testing out new products I started to get away from it. I had a bottle in my back up drawer that i knew I needed to work through so I took it out. I forgot haw absolutely fabulous it is. It is a light fresh grapefruit scent which is the perfect skincare wake up call. I know it removes makeup well also so I have no problem using it at night, but the morning scent is really where it shines. It is gentle on the skin and always leaves me feeling fresh and clean. I love when you return to old favorites and fall in love all over again, and with me this week, that is what happened with the cleanser.

I felt a dark delight with the toner this week. As you may recall I am working through this Glow Recipe toner because I don’t want to waste product. It works well, but i hate the scent. It smells like watermelon extract was mixed with stale water. Because it does work well I continued using it. This week, I finished it up completely and it is now leaving my skincare routine. it is going away and it will never return. I like many other Glow recipe products, this just isn’t one of them.

The 111Skin Essence worked well as always and smells like a high end spa. It is actually a joy to use, especially since I have taken it out of my skincare line up, just to see if it was working as it was supposed to. Essences are designed to make the other skincare you use more effective. This works well and smells fabulous while doing it. As the level drops though more product comes out with every shake so be aware and either tip it slowly so the weight of the product doesn’t force more product than you want out or just use less shakes to dispense.

This week the Serumkind gave me fits. I am still not convinced it is actually doing much for my skin. This is the third week of use so I will continue using it and see if week four hits a tipping point. The issue this week is that the serum is so thick that the dropper has a hard time picking it up. It was an effort to get it out of the bottle and the effort was a bit annoying since I don’t know if the drops actually do anything. They smell nice and there is something appealing in a mad scientist sort of way to see a bottle of purple-y serum on the skincare shelf, but I’m just not sure it is worth the time and trouble. I will continue, but thus far, I am not a fan.

with my eye cream this week I received a sad news. I may love the Glam Glow Bright eyes, but it seems that Glam Glow itself does not agree. It seems the Bright eyes has been discontinued. What i might do, is roll in one of my sample sized products to try while I have it around. Since I love the Bright eyes and it doesn’t clog pores or cause me issues, it might be good to have around while I test other products in case they give me fits. Since I get a lot of clogged pores around my eyes, I often have issues with eye creams. I’ll take a look in the skin care drawer this weekend. Until then I will just use this little pot of cream until it is gone and then bid adieu to the product.

Finally the Day time moisturizer is the Comfort Zone Hydra Memory Cream gel. In case you are wondering what a cream gel is, it feels like a light cream that is slightly thicker than a water cream. It is nice for day time use and absorbs quickly. while in the heat of summer I might be able to get away with using it at night, for the rest of the year it simply wouldn’t have enough moisture in it to work as a night cream. which is fine with me as I don’t really mind having a day cream and a night cream. While this cream was nice, the sample is ended and to be honest, I don’t see myself buying a full sized version. It worked well, but it wasn’t really thrilling. It is just kind of middle of the road. I have tried products I liked a lot better and I have tried products I liked less. I just don’t see myself purchasing this in the future.

The Night Time Line Up

Cleanser: Elemis Lime Blossom Balancing Cleanser

Makeup Remover: Vitabrid Daily C Cleansing Balm

Toner: Glow Recipe Watermelon Pore Tight Toner

Essence: 111Skin Antioxidant Energizing Essence

Serum: Serumkind Purple Cabbage Drops

Eye Cream: Glam Glow Bright Eyes

Moisturizer: Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer

Lips: Laneige Lip Mask in Berry

The Elemis Balancing Lime Cleanser and Vitabrid C 12 Cleansing balm are great products that I have been using for a while and that I am happy to keep using. The above links will take you to the full reviews if you are interested. I enjoy both products and will continue using them until they are gone. In the future, both are items that i would happily repurchase.

The ExfoliKate, I am kind of on the fence about. It works really well and I love how my skin feels, but the scent is starting to get to me. In the beginning it was kind of lemon scented skincare but as time passes it is reminding me more of floor polish in scent. I still adore the moisture it brings to my skin. My skin very much loves the formula, it is just the scent that is a bit industrial. While I am happy to use the rest of this jar, I am on the fence as to if I would repurchase it. I think it is going to depend on the final thoughts of if I know of moisturizers that are as good for my skin but don’t have an off putting scent.

The Laneige is as always fabulous. I have started using it not only as a night time lip mask, but also in the mornings. I will wash my face and then put on just a little of the lip mask before I start in with the other skin care. Then by the time my skincare is done and my coffee has brewed my lips are fantastically hydrated. I wouldn’t do this in the summer time but in the winter, now that the air is cold and the heater is running, the extra hit of lip mask is really helping to fend off winter chapped lips.

And that my darlings is this week’s skincare line up. It was a bit of a rollercoaster as far as product performance went. A couple of items were emptied and will soon be replaced and one was sadly discontinued. And of course I also fell back in love with an old favorite. When it comes to drama in the skin care, this is the kind of drama I favor. It’s a lot less amusing when it leads to break outs. Lamenting discontinued and fabulous as way easier to take.

The Daily: September 13th, 2021

Oh the best laid plans…when last we spoke I was enjoying the Annmarie Skincare Charcoal and Cacao Facemask and chopping vegetables in preparation for a delectable Friday night happy hour. But alas it was not to be. I chopped the onions and was reaching for the mushrooms when it was time to remove the mask.

I took my mask off, delighted in the fabulous skin left behind. I wrote up my thoughts for you and returned to the kitchen. My plan was to finish my chopping, caramalize the onions and then add the mushrooms. Once they were all cooked up I was going to add in the coat cheese, let the filling cool and wrap it in puff pastry, cooking until the pastry triangles were crisp.

Unfortunately as I went back for the mushrooms, my phone rang. A little over a year ago my babydoll replaced his car. There was something that needed fixing on it at the time so he didn’t trade it in. He planned to get the issue fixed and then sell it to a friend of his. He got the issue fixed but then his friend kept putting him off. And eventually the deal fell through. Mostly because last year changed a lot of things.

My babydoll decided to hold onto the old car for a little while to figure out what to do with it. Periodically he takes it out to make sure everything is still running appropriately. Friday he realized he hadn’t taken it out in a while and he decided to drive it to work. It was fine going in but apparently the battery died sometime during the day so I had to run out and pick him up. He had a pretty rough day all around and asked if we could just pick up dinner along the way. Which we did.

The chopped onions were used with hash browns on Saturday and This Friday I will try again with the puff pastry triangles. Luckily the rest of the weekend was quiet. More for my babydoll’s sake than mine. Last week was a bit rushed because it was a short week, but his week was calamity after calamity with the cherry on top being the dead battery so he really needed to just collapse for a bit and recharge. I’m hoping he has a much better week this week. As for me I got to catch up on the show Billions. Paramount + has Seasons 1 – 3 streaming until October 4th. I’m trying to get through all three seasons before then, so there will be repeat binge sessions. Besides I needed a bit of a break from horror and murder which seems to be taking up the bulk of my television time lately. I’d worry but as everywhere near me has already started putting out their Halloween decorations I think it might be something in the air. Regardless, Paramount + is now turning into one of my favorite streaming sites (I think it is $4.99 per month. This link will take you there if you want more details)

Today’s Look:

Primer: Glam Glow Supermatify Primer

Foundation: Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation

Bronzer: Ciate Bamboo Bronzer

Blush: Floss Cheek and Lip Tint in Sandals

Highlighter: Jecca Blac Glow Drops in Champagne

Powder: No 7 Perfect Light pressed powder

Eyeshadow: Steve Laurant Wild Thing Palette

Mascara: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir

  • Marc Jacobs is just about to wind down their 50% off sale. It ends sometime this week I believe.

Lips: Zoeva Power4ful Lip Twist in Rhea

Setting Spray: The Porefessional Super setter Setting Spray

Okay lets start with the primer. I know what you are thinking. Didn’t Mimsy just do a primer declutter? I don’t think this was mentioned. Good eye. It was not. Because of the bulky packaging this Glam Glow Primer, my Illamasqua Primer and my Stila Primer were moved to a different drawer. I forgot all about them when doing my declutter, so I will use all three this week and cover them here. Today is of course the Glam Glow. I do like this primer. It smells of licorice and it is super mattifying. I actually chose it today because we have something like 97% humidity. Even sitting indoors at my desk, I am bound to get sticky. So today was it’s day to shine. Or at least to keep me from shining. As much as I like this primer, I think I would have to think a while before repurchasing it. The package is bulky and there isn’t a lot of product in it. There is far more package than product. It is nice to have and I will happily use this until it is all gone, but I think because of the amount o0f product in the package, I would only purchase this when it is on sale. It is a great primer, but there just isn’t a lot of product.

The Revolution Fast Base Foundation stick is a definite repurchase. It is an excellent foundation, that doesn’t cost a lot of money and it is perfect for travel as it can’t spill. It can leave the skin looking a tad on the shiny side, so be prepared with a powder. Today’s powder is my long term fave, No 7. Do I need to say I’d repurchase this? Probably not, but I will. This is a staple of my makeup bag and has been already repurchased so many times I have lost count.

The bronzer however is new to me. I have to say I was super excited when this came in the mail the other day. No I don’t have fairies dropping bronzer off at my house. Although really, how cool would that be. The magic makeup fairies… Anyway, no. I ordered it. It was very satisfying to get though. A while back I realized that the only item I didn’t have in my collection from Ciate was a bronzer. I had every other type of product. So I thought, Oh I’ll get the bronzer and then do a full face of Ciate London products, won’t that be fun? So I went to order it. It was out of stock. Then it came back in stock and I forgot I was going to do a whole face of Ciate and thought, I have enough bronzers. So I didn’t order it.

Then I remembered and went to order, and it was out of stock again. There were a couple of other missteps but I finally got around to ordering it and here it is. Of course now I have finished both mascaras from Ciate that I was using and accidentally broke the highlighter. So no full face at the moment. But I’m sure I will at least get a mascara in soon. The Ciate Mascaras are on my reorder list and I’m sure I will reorder before the bronzer runs out. So this was my first use of the bronzer. It was nice actually. I’m sorry it took me so long to order it. The bamboo bronzer is a nice shade for me and is more buildable than highly pigmented. I really like that actually as it keeps me from having to blend out harsh stripes. The shade I am using is South Beach. I really like this first use of the product and I am looking forward to using it for a while. It is also a lovely looking compact to thats always nice too.

There was another new item in my look today and it was the Steve Laurant Wild Thing eyeshadow palette. It is not exactly a new palette. I received it in a subscription box a while ago but I can’t remember ever using it and when I went through the palettes to declutter I couldn’t remember using it. It also looked untouched. So I decided to give it a go this week. This is my first use of it and I can’t say I am all that impressed. For something called Wild Thing, it is incredibly tame. The small two inch square palette would be perfect for slipping into your bag to touch up work makeup. Because this is really a neural office palette, despite the name. This far it isn’t highly pigmented. I’m going to be playing with it this week and I’ll keep ypu poster.

The other kind of new item is the Zoeva Lip Twist. I used it once before. It is extremely sorft and on my first use the point of the lip crayon sheered off. It does have a sharpener on the end, but I decided not to use it and just use the lip crayon with a flat end. This is working pretty well. I think it I were to sharpen it, the point would fall off again and I would just waste product. It is a neutral enough color that it works. I think if this were a bright color than I would have to use a brush to get clean lines, but the neutral works well as it is. It feels a little waxy o0n the lips so I’m not sure if I would order more colors in this formula. It is a nice neutral but I think this may be my only powerful lip twist from Zoeva. I just have many other products I like a lot more.

The last product I really want to mention today is the setting spray. You’ll notice it is not Farsali. That is because I finally finished the Farsali Setting Spray over the weekend and decided to celebrate by reaching for the Benefit Cosmetics. This setting spray has an ultra fine mist and really helps lock in product. The scent is reminiscent of the Porefessional Primer, which I happen to like. But it is a light scent. It is a much lighter scent than the Farsali and was kind of a relief to use. The Farsali was nice, but that scent was too much. I was happy to be able to switch out products once again.

And that was pretty much my makeup for the day. And now that this pleasant interlude is over, I must get back to work. I hope your Monday flows smoothly and easily.

The Daily: July 14th, 2021

Good Afternoon my darlings. or should I say, Happy Bastille day. I just received an Email from Klorane announcing the one Day Bastile Sale they have going on so I thought I’d let you know before I forget. The deal is listed below but this link will take you to the site.

Today has been a good day for me. I made my to do list and have been checking items off left and right. Unfortunately I left my walk to a little bit later than I should have and came home a sweaty mess. The temps may technically be down a bit but the humidity. Oh my darlings the humidity is what kills you.

I feel a bit like a dehydrated camel. I’ve gone through two of the Soda Stream bottles just trying to bring my hydration levels back to even. I also think that even though some of my walks have been earlier, I feel like combine with the garden I am just getting too much sun. I use sunscreen, but I still feel like it might be a bit much.

I think that this weekend I may look at some schedule shuffling so that I can make the time to go to the gym and use the treadmill there, even on my typically non-gym days, at least until the summer sun diminishes some. I know I mentioned thinking about doing that in early June but never got around to it. I am beginning to suspect i really should have moved on that then.

However today I get to wear one of my new pairs of earrings. I just got in three new pairs (and a ring) from Mariz Artisan Hand Crafted Jewelry. I felt like I deserved a little sparkle today so I went with the Odessa Earring. I love the way the earring looks and I love that it can be worn two ways. The earring comes in two pieces, the stud that goes through the lobe and the additional fan design. The fan design has two holes to put the stud through so it can be adjusted if you have big earlobes. To be honest, I never thought about different sized ear lobes before. But I love the earrings and they provided the perfect amount of bling for me today. And if I decide there is too much bling, I can take off the fan and just wear the stud. I’ve been going through my earrings lately and found I don’t actually have very many matching studs. I seem to have lost a lot of the matching sets. Perhaps they are hanging out somewhere with the missing socks that I can’t find.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Glamglow mattifying Primer

Foundation: Ciate London Extraordinary Foundation

Face Palette: PUR 4-in-1 perfecting powders

Eyeshadow: Otherworldly by Fluide

Mascara: The Feathers by Pretty Vulgar

Lips: MAC in Bated Breath

Jewelry: Odessa Earrings By Mariz Artisan Hand Crafted Jewelry

Today is the last day of my Glam Glow Primer Trial. Tomorrow i will post the full review of it as well as start rotating other primers back into my routine. Over all I think it is a pretty decent primer, but I also think it is very much a summer primer. At least for me.

The Ciate London Foundation is an all year for me and just an easy pick. I actually went for easy today with the foundation, eyeshadow and face palette. All are items I love using. Today’s test was really the MAC Lipstick. I’ve been doing a sort of rolling evaluation and declutter and am trying to slowly whittle down several categories of product. I am actually getting rid of a couple of MAC lipsticks because the colors don’t suit me, but i really think I like this shade. it is a pretty nice neutral. And as I know I have several neutrals I am going to have no choice but to get rid of, I think I may keep this one. Plus i love the MAC formula. I always have. They were the first non-drugstore lipstick I ever bought and I have a huge weakness for them. Usually i only stick with the few whose shades I know I like, but lately both IPSY and Boxycharm have been sending MAC lippies. Several in shades that are unfortunately not for me. And so I will have to let a few go, even though it sort of pains me a bit.

Actually getting rid of most lipsticks pains me. I just love lip products. And I always think i can use a lip pencil to modify the color, or maybe layer the products to change the color. I’m always more of a work with it to make it better rather than purge sort of person when it comes to lips. Although given the state of my lip product drawer I may be reaching a point where an actual deep down declutter is necessary.

But happily, that is a thought to contemplate another day. For now, it is back to work for me. So Happy Bastille Day to one and all.

The Daily: July 13th, 2021

It is amazing how much better the world works when you have had a good night sleep. Yesterday I was in a sleep deprived haze and barely remember getting through the day. Last night I took my Hum Nutrition Beauty zzzz’s gummies and called it an early night. I slept and actually felt human again when I woke up this morning.

Sleep is fabulous.

I made up for my one short walk yesterday with a much longer one today and other than that I am playing catch up on everything that was missed yesterday. Apparently even though I was in a fog most of yesterday I still managed to get quite a lot done, which was a bit surprising. Even more surprising was that it seemed to be done correctly.

Tomorrow it is back to the gym and as much as I really don’t like the gym I am happy to return to chipping a little more weight off of my body and becoming more fit. I had a very strange dream last night about not being able to fight off an attack by a pack of ninjas. While even at my most fit I couldn’t fight off one ninja, nor have I ever had any cause to be under attack by ninjas it does make me feel like I need to be more fit. In case you were wondering, in my dream they were trying to steal a bar of soap.

I have no idea why this soap was important or why I had important soap to begin with, but I do know that it was wet and no one could grab it without it slipping through their fingers. I was also fending off the attack with a foam pool noodle which didn’t really aid my attempts at defense. I’m sure there is some reason for the dream I just don’t know what it was.

Today’s look:

Primer: Glam Glow Mattifying Primer

Foundation: Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation

Bronzer: Too Faced Cocoa Contour

Blush Ciate London Marbled Light in Halo

Powder: Becca Pink Haze

Eyeshadow: Maybelline 24 hr color tattoo Cream Eyeshadow in Knock out and Inked in Pink

Mascara: Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real Magnet Mascara

Lips: Wet ‘n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Cinnamon Spice

Setting Spray: Farsali Rose Gold Skin Mist

Today the primer test for Glam Glow continued. It has been an interesting product to work with and has both pros and cons. I’ll put up my full review later in the week. (Thursday). I am continuing my rolling declutter. Today I had bothe a foundation and cream eyeshadows to look at. The Fit me foundation is an excellent formula. I really like the product. What I don’t like is the open topped bottle. Every time I use it I end up pouring out more than I intend and in the end I make a bit of a mess. As a result even though I like the formula, I don’t reach for it a lot. when I went on the Look Fantastic Store page, I remember finding this foundation in a squeeze tube. If it is the same foundation, then I think I would pick that up instead of the original bottle. And that is because I just don’t reach for this one due to the mess. I will use up this bottle and keep in mind that if i do need to run out to the drug store and pick up a foundation on the fly this one is a good one that will work for me. I am just trying to limit myself to products I will consistently reach for as I am running out of space in my dressing table.

The cream eyeshadows I quite frankly forgot I had. I pulled two of them out to use today thinking that surely they dried up. To my surprise they were perfectly fine. Blending them is always a bit interesting. I generally find that I have to apply the darker one and blend it to the lid and then wait a bit for it to dry down a little before adding the lighter more metallic shade on the inner corner. The lighter shade layers over the darker but if you try to blend them they both just get a bit muddy. I have several colors and really do like them, especially when I know I am going to be out all day and won’t be able to check a mirror. Once in place, they just don’t move all day. They are truly 24 hour wear. But it takes a really long time to get through one of the little pots, at least for me. I think I might pick up one or two of my favorite colors, but I don’t think I would repurchase all of the colors I currently have.It isn’t a product i feel i need to keep the entire line of.

I reached for the Ciate London Blush because I was reminded of it by the August Spoiler from Look Fantastic and the blush performed beautifully as always so it is definitely a keeper. I am also keeping the Cocoa Contour palette from Too Faced around. it is beautiful packaging that feels good in the hands and had a selection of well pigmented products. I need to remember to reach for this more often actually.

I still like the Becca Pink Haze and will continue to use it up. I won’t be stocking up before Becca closes its doors though. I will finish this up and possibly look for another pink tinted face powder to replace it. It is nice, but I don’t feel that I have to stockpile it before it becomes unavailable.

Likewise the Farsali Rose Gold Face Mist will be used up and let go. It is very pretty to look at and it feels good on the skin hoaerver it is a little on the wet side and takes a while to dry. It is also highly scented and after a few days, I get to the point where the scent is too much. I am going to try to keep the Farsali out for a while so I can use up more of it and hopefully clear it out of the drawer but once it is gone, I won’t be looking to replace it.

I will however look to replace the They’re Real Magnet Mascara. I used the last from the trial sized tube today and from start to finish it performed well. I have several mascaras I need to try, but this is one that I will repurchase.

Over all it was a pretty mixed bag of makeup today. And even though everything is currently staying, I’ve identified a few items I will be using up and clearing out. which isn’t a bad thing. I am very happy those cream eyeshadows didn’t dry out on me.
