The Skincare Line up: June 3rd, 2022

Good morning my darlings and welcome to my favorite post of the week. Here I get to talk all about the skincare I’m using and how I feel about it currently. Later of course once I’ve use a product for long enough to see whether or not there are effects there will be full reviews on the products, but for now it is a casual update as to how things are working. And I do like to talk about skincare.

bare skin complete with puffy eyes

I forgot to add them in the last couple of posts, but today I have added a photo showing my current bare skin, makeup free face. It is just there for reference. As a side note pollen is very high today so none of the skincare products can actually be blamed for not taking down my puffy eyes. I have a jade roller in the fridge that I am periodically taking out to roll over my skin in an effort to help take down the puff. It actually works. I use it, then when it is warm and my eyes feel a little better I return it to the fridge to use later in the day.

Aside from the allergies, I’m rather happy with the way my skin looks this week. There are no major blemishes and the wrinkle fighting products are currently holding their own. So without further ado, into the skincare we dive.

The Morning Line Up

Cleanser: Clove and Hallow Cloud Powder Gentle Waterless Cleanser

Toner: Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner

Eye cream: Sunday Riley Five Star Eye Cream

Day Cream: Embryolisse Lait Creme Fluide

Serum: Vitabrid C12 Wrinkle Serum

All of these products were in motion last week and I am happily using them again this week. The Clove and Hallow waterless cleanser is quite lovely. It has that vanilla mango powder scent to it and is a really gentle yet effective cleanser. Gentle is actually the most important bit right now as it isn’t just morning and night when i need a face wash. while I still have morning and night routines, as I am walking in the mornings and attempting to add some strength training exercises in the late afternoons, there are times (especially post walk) where my skin just feels sweaty and salty and kind of gross. A tiny pinch of this cleansing powder mixed with water after I get in from my walk cleanses the skin but is just the right amount of gentle not to overly cleanse my skin. while it is a powder and not much product so it will last a while, a part of me wants to just keep it as the post work out cleanser, hoarding it for during the day necessities. It is a fantastic face wash so i am still using it in my day and night time routines, but hoarding it is a thought because it is so gentle. It is also from a clean and sustainable brand so that makes me feel even better about using it.

The slightly sweet and fruity apricot toner from Elemis pairs oddly well with the cleanser scent wise. it is like a skincare smoothie of apricot and mango. Plus it is a really good toner. It is light and refreshing and really only needs a little bit to be effective.

The Sunday Riley eye cream has been in use for a while. It absorbs fast, isn’t greasy and doesn’t clog my pores. I haven’t noticed any new lines forming which is nice. And the finer lines are a little plumped out so they sort of disappear which is also fantastic. Over all it is a good eye cream and i will probably use it until the tube is empty. It is also a product I will purchase again.

This is the third Embryolisse product from the Lait Creme line. It is the Fluide and it is the perfect summer weight day cream. This is it’s second week I believe and I really do like it . I am noticing that a couple of times a week I need a little extra night time moisture so I have rolled in a night cream for twice a week. That seems to be enough to balance it out. Other than that, it absorbs well, moisturizes and causes no irritation or clogged pores. It actually is close to a creamy water cream in consistency. One pump is all i need for day time wear on my face. A second pump covers my neck and upper chest. I am actually still tickled at the order in which I ended up testing them. I had three of the embryolisse creams and somehow they fell into the perfect, winter/spring/summer sequence as far as moisturizers go. Somedays, it’s the little things that are just fabulous.

I started using the Vitabrid C12 serum towards the end of last week (last Thursday I believe) so it has only been a little over a week with the serum. It isn’t long enough to see results yet since most skincare needs at least thirty days, but I do like the creamy consistency of the serum and the way it absorbs into the skin. It is a non-greasy formula and there is no scent to the serum. And after applying, my skin feels really soft. I like using it and am really hoping there are some sort of visible results by the time a month of use has passed since I am enjoying using it.

But that is the day time, shall we go into the night?

The Night Time Line up

Makeup Remover: Yensa CBD Superfood Dual Cleansing Oil

Cleanser: Clove and Hallow Cloud Powder Gentle Waterless Cleanser

Toner: Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner and Alpha H Liquid Gold (every other night)

Eye cream: Sunday Riley Five Star Eye Cream

Day Cream: Embryolisse Lait Creme Fluide

Facial Oil: Pili Ani Ageless Concentrate

Night Cream: Elemis Superfood Midnight Facial Nourishing Sleeping Cream (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Okay a lot of the products were covered above so I won’t repeat the descriptions here. I’ve been using the Yensa CBD cleansing oil to remove my makeup and it does a really good job. It sometimes misses a bit of mascara but as that comes off with the Clove and Hallow I use right after that isn’t a problem. It’s also why I am a big fan of two cleansers in a line up at night. I really like to make sure all of my makeup is off before i sleep.

On Monday, wednesday and Friday I replace my regular toner with the Alpha H. It is a glycolic acid exfoliating toner so you aren’t supposed to use it more than every other night. I was using it, then I had a break and this week I went back to using it. The first day back it stung like it had the first time I used it. The second time the sting faded and I’m sure when i use it tonight the sting will be gone. It is a light stinging sensation (I’ve actually had face masks that tingled more). And the stinging was just with that initial use. If you have really sensitive skin, I would test it on your inner arm a couple of times before deciding if you want to use this on your face. I think it is worth it and I really like the gentle exfoliation of the skin.

The Pili Ani oil is a tiny little bottle and since I really only need one drop on my face at a time, it is actually lasting. This is it’s second week and I still have product in the bottle. I am hoping it will last the full four weeks. This oil absorbs well and has a slightly nutty scent to it. My skin drinks it in and feels soft and hydrated after. It is especially nice on the nights after I use the Glycolic acid toner. This is a product I am definitely adding to the list of products to try in the full size.

And finally the Elemis Super food midnight facial. I am using it twice a week for extra moisture. With the Embryolisse cream it is all I need actually. I notice I need it after sweating more in the sun. It is a nice little boost. It smells a bit like candy. it is sweet and fruity. It kind of reminds me of the old Fruit Stripe Gum. It is that kind of scent. And kind of nice to apply right before bed. The cream melts into the skin so it isn’t smeared all over the pillow and it really provides great moisture. It is a product i am happy to add into my skincare line up. This is it’s first week so I am sure I’ll have more to say as time goes on. for now, I just like it.

And that my darlings is my skincare line up for the week. To be honest there is nothing bad to report. Nothing caused problems and nothing is something I plan to avoid. You may notice that I didn’t include my sunscreen on here. My sample ran out so I went back to using my Spray Neutrogena sunscreen instead of adding something else to the line up. I ordered a couple of products and hope they will be coming in soon. This week I am going to rummage because I think I have a few more samples to try out in sunscreen and I am hoping they last until my orders come in. Otherwise, things are rolling along pretty well as we slide into summer. My skin feels and looks good and I like the products I’m using. I’m sure at some point that might change, but for now I feel like I am on a roll.

The Skincare Lineup: March 25th, 2022

Good morning my darlings. It is time for the most fabulous post of the week. Or at least the one I have the most fun with. That’s right, it’s time to talk skincare. And today I have an added bit. I decided that I am going to add in a photo of my bare skin taken first thing on Friday morning so that you can see how my skin actually looks as well as seeing the products I am using and reading my thoughts about them

Feel free to zoom in as close as you care to look, I won’t judge. I did have a bit of a break out on my chin this week. But that was due to me spending an inordinate amount of time with a face mask and of using a clay mask to draw out the buried clogged pores. This week, there were some on my chin. The mask brought them up and I am now clearing them away. So first a picture of my skin and then, we are off to the skincare races. Or at least this week’s line up.

The Daytime Line Up

Cleanser: Time Revolution Artemisia Pack Foam Cleanser from Missha

Essence: 111Skin Antioxidant Energizing Essence

Serum: The Nue Co’s The Pill

Toner: Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic

Eye Cream: MZ Skin Sooth and Smooth eye cream

Moisturizer: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

The Time Revolution Cleanser has been fantastic. I am reaching the end of the thirty days, and the end of the product as well. My full review of it will be up next week and I suspect I may be able to squeak through the week with the remainder of the cleanser, but certainly by the end of next week i will need to choose a new cleanser for the line up. I really enjoyed using this cleanser. It’s mask like texture was fantastic in letting me know exactly where I had cleansed and it rinsed off clean while leaving my skin refreshed. What more could you really want in a cleanser?

I also only have about a week more of the 111Skin Essence. It too has been fantastic. It not only helped the other products work more efficiently, but it’s scent lent my skincare routine a spa like feel. Great product, great high end scent. I would certainly use this essence again.

The Pill from Nue Co is interesting. It is creamier than I am used to serums being and slightly sticky. Since I put a moisturizer over it, I am not as worried about the stickiness as I would normally be. It is early days yet with this serum so I haven’t really seen any effects, but I am hopeful. I love the shape of the bottle and the pump as they seem really well thought out. It is an easy product to pick up and use even if you have wet hands. Hopefully steady use will produce effects.

I can already see some effects with the MZ Skin eye cream. It is a thick eye cream, but I haven’t had any issues with clogging pores. And I really like the way it absorbs without leaving a greasy film.

The real winner this week is the Embryolisse. Wow. It says Multi use on the label and this week I not only used it as my moisturizer but as a pre makeup base. It made such a huge difference. I was blown away. I have one more week for the full thirty day test of this moisturizer, and then I will be rolling in the next in the Lait-creme line to try out and compare with the first. My plan had been to use up this tube at night while starting to test the next one in the day time, but I think I will only do that for a few days before relocating the remainder of the tube to my makeup kit. Applying that extra hit of moisture and letting it soak in a few minutes before moving on with the rest of my makeup really made a difference. It was simply amazing and I am kind of sad that i didn’t try this multi-use function out prior to this. But I will be using it in the future. I will also be picking up a tube simply to keep with my makeup.

The Nighttime Line Up

Cleanser: Time Revolution Artemisia Pack Foam Cleanser from Missha

Makeup Remover: Vike Makeup Melt Paired with the Makeup Cloths from The Turkish Towel Company (currently on sale on the site)

Essence: 111Skin Antioxidant Energizing Essence

Serum: The Nue Co Topical C

Facial Oil: Annmarie Anti-Aging Facial Oil

Exfoliating Pads: The Somme Institute Transport Exfoliating pads

Eye Cream: MZ Skin Sooth and Smooth eye cream

Moisturizer: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

Lips: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in berry

As always some of these are repeats, so we will concentrate on the ones I didn’t use in the morning. I had planned to replace the Vike this week, but somehow never got around to it. I have a Huda Beauty cleansing Balm I want to try out so I will be bringing that out this coming week and setting the Vike to the side. It is a great product and so quick and easy to use. The issue is the scent. it is strong and I kind of need a break from it. But it is good.

I continued adding the Vitamin C powder from the Nue C to my moisturizer this week and I really enjoy it. I add it at night because in the day time Vitamin C can leave me a little sun sensitive. I really like having it in the routine though and I am happy I can add it, and add it in the amounts I want, when I choose to do so.

This week I rolled in the Annmarie Facial Oil to replace the Byroe to see how it worked and I loved it. It worked even better than the Byroe, plus it has that great Annmarie Skincare Herbal scent. I adore the skincare products from Annmarie skincare. They are just so fresh and clean. My all time favorite is their Aloe Herb Cleanser. it smells like Lemon Verbena and I always find myself wanting to pick up a bottle when spring arrives. It just seems like the perfect time for it. But alas, this tine bottle of oil is almost out. I have a couple of more days with it and then I will take out a new facial oil. this is one I will return to in a larger format at some point in the future. As I am working through a backlog of oils that i want to use up, it may take a while but this is one of the few oils that made my repurchase list.

I don’t think I will be repurchasing the Somme exfoliating pads. I do like toner and exfoliating pads and the liquid in this one is fine. It actually works well. The problem is with the pads themselves. They are a thin cotton material that because it is so saturated tend to stick together. Separating them often tears the pad and gets the serum everywhere. I often feel like I’ve exfoliated my hands more than I have my face. and it really is the material of the pads. Getting just one out of the container is difficult. I will keep using them as I like the serum, but I don’t think this is going to be a repeat purchase for me.

It was kind of the hiccup in my week of skin care. Otherwise everything went swimmingly. Next week there will be a new facial oil and new makeup remover. The cleanser and the essence may make it through the week, but I know the cleanser won’t make it beyond. Using it as a day and night time cleanser along with an occasional masking experience used up the tube fast. I don’t mind as it was a fantastic product to use, but I will soon need to find a replacement. As always I will be easing new products in one at a time instead of all at the same time. I find it the best way to keep my skin from freaking out over new products.

So that was me this week. I hope you had as much fun talking about skincare as I did.

The Skincare Line Up: March 11th, 2022

It is time now for my favorite post of the week…SKINCARE! I know, I get obnoxious with it, but I just love talking about skincare. And I try to confine as much of it as I can so that i don’t drive the people around me bonkers. Admittedly my babydoll calls my love of skincare a latent mad scientist gene, but there are worse things I suppose. Growing up though the only makeup or skin care he ever saw was at his grandmother’s. His mother’s space was strictly off limits to him and his brothers. So he refers to al skin care products as Cold Cream. But that is another story.

I planned to start seperating my skin care into day time and night time use but that didn’t quite happen. I had a little left of my Grace and Stella serum so I shifted it to night time use and brought in a serum sample to use in the day time figuring I would allow my skin to get used to the new serum in the day before rolling in a new one at night. There wasn’t all that much serum in the sample so it ran out pretty much the same fay the Grace and Stella ran out and so I picked out the Nue Co’s The Pill All in One serum to replace it. I’ll get into details below, but that is why there are three serums listed and why I went with One list instead of breaking it down for the day and night this week. So….

Cleanser: Time Revolution Artemisia Pack Foam Cleanser from Missha (20% off with code FEB20)

Makeup Remover: Vike Makeup Melt Paired with a Makeup Eraser

Essence: 111Skin Antioxidant Energizing Essence

Toner: Buttah AHA/BHA Rosewater toner

Serum: Grace and Stella Hyaluronic Acid Serum, Codex Antu Brightening serum and The Nue Co’s The Pill

Facial Oil: Byroe Fig Renewal oil

Eye Cream: MZ Skin Sooth and Smooth eye cream

Moisturizer: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

Lips: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in berry

Okay starting with the cleanser, it is fabulous. My plan last week was to try out the masking function of this cleanser, but thee were technical difficulties (with the site not the cleanser). I will be trying it out this afternoon to see how it performs as a mask. As a cleanser though it is top rate.I am really enjoying it. I think my skin just really reacts well to Artemisia (mugwort) which I found out using the essence this summer but it turns out it works well for me as a cleanser. the weather yo-yoed this week and I was stuffy, The cleanser actually soothed my skin and my eyes were not as puffy as usual. (I also extended my cleansing time so I might technically have partially used it as a mask in my cleansing routine because letting the cleanser sit on my skin really helped with the allergy depuff., But I will officially try it as a mask later today.

The Vike is good as a makeup remover. I just need to hold my breath when I spray so I don’t inhale, don’t lick my lips until after I’ve washed my face and remember not to overdo the spray. And the longer it sits on the skin the more it does take off. I think I still prefer cleansing balms, but for a quick and easy application this is a good product.

The buttah toner is almost completely empty. I will use what is left either tonight or tomorrow morning and the container will be empty. It is a nice product, but it isn’t noticeably fabulous. I would use it again if it happened to show up at my house via subscription box, but i wouldn’t go out and purchase it on my own. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, it simply isn’t a stand out.

The MZ sooth and Smooth is stating to show some improvement in my fine lines. It is still early days yet. It has been less than a month which is generally the minimum a product takes to show effectiveness. It is a god sized jar for an eye cream so it will last more than a month, which is god because it is a rather expensive eye cream. I’d hate for something that pricy to show no results and run out in a month. But I think I am starting to see results and it will last longer than a month so we are at so far so good.

I like putting the Byroe oil on the fine lines around my mouth. I think it is helping the fine lines, but I know it is also helping with some of the chapping around my mouth as well. i know it is sily, but I tend to remember to put on lip masks, but i tend to apply them Like I apply lipstick and follow the contuurs of my lips. So my lips will get some hydrating love but the edges of my lips will still get dry and sore. I know I should just apply my lip mask in a wider area but when I do, I ten find myself wiping off the excess with my finger. So the oil helps. So does the Laneige, which I love.

The serums are actually a quick run down despite there being three of them. The Grace and Stella finished out and I miss it already. It is a great fast absorbing Hyaluronic Acid based serum and my skin loved it. It is on the to buy list for certain. The Codex serum seemed nice but there really wasn’t enough product in the container for me to say anything other than, this didn’t irritate my skin and the scent was vaguely lemony in a non industrial cleaner kind of way. It was actually a nice light fresh lemon scent. I didn’t really get much of a feel for the product but I wouldn’t mind trying it out in a larger size at some point.

As for the Nue. It is a light weight cream that has no real scent to it. I like the dark bottle and the pump. It takes a minute to absorb into the skin, and it is slightly sticky to the touch. beyond that I haven’t used it enough yet to really determine how I feel about it.

And then we come to the moisturizer. This Lait-Creme Concentre was sent to me by the brand for the purpose of review. I posted a first use post on Monday and I will use this for the next thirty days. Embryolisse sent two other moisturizers from the line so I will be testing them out and comparing them to this once i am finished. The link in this paragraph will take you to my first use post. Thus far I am liking the moisturizer. I think this is the most moisturizing of the line, which is why I am using it now when my skin is still winter dry. I have found I need about half of the product in the morning that I do at night. I suspect that when the weather warms up, this might end up being more of a night cream than a day one for my skin type. However right now that level of moisture is perfect for me.

This is the type of cream that needs to warm up before it absorbs. I put it in my hand, rub my hands together and then put it on my face. With that I avoid the temporary white cast and it absorbs faster. What i have found is that it does need a minute to settle in. when I first applied it, my skin looked a little shiny and greasy. Then I went, put on the coffee pot and walked back to my bathroom and the shiny/greasiness had gone and my skin absorbed the moisturizer. the same thing happened at night, minus the coffee. It just takes a minute to settle in and all is well. I am also finding that I like the scent more as I use it. This is a face cream scented face cream. The scent is very nostalgic for me as my mom and grandmother both used this moisturizer when I was little. So the scent is, for me, the scent of face cream. I kinda dig it actually.

And with that we set off into another week of skincare. As the Nue Co settles in I’ll see about splitting the night from the day, once I decide if the Nue Co is a day or night time product. If it is then I have a couple of vitamin c serums I might use for the night time. They tend to make me a little sun sensitive so i like using them at night. of course at the moment it is storming enough to make me think Ark building might be something I should look into so the sun is less of a worry than usual. Still, it never hurts to be careful.

And that is the weekly line up. I’ll be back this afternoon with my Friday Face mask. Until then, I hope you have a fabulous Friday.

Lait-Crème Concentré

The Skincare Line Up: October 22nd, 2021

Good morning my darlings and welcome to the weekly skincare line up. Here I get to chat briefly each week about the products I’m using and how I feel about them. For me this helps me actually figure out what is working, what I like and what is really just not good for my skin. I hope you find it helpful, or at least entertaining as well. So let’s dive in and see what we have this week.

The Daytime Line Up

Deodorant: Native Blackberry and Green Tea Deodorant

Cleanser: Ren Clean Skincare Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Oil Cleanser

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha and 111SkinAntioxident Energising Essence

Serum: Vitabrid C12 Dual Drop Serum

Moisturizer: Seed Phytonutrients Light Weight Facial Lotion

Eye cream: Verso Super eye Serum with retinol 8

Sunscreen: Shiseido Ultimate Sun protector Lotion SPF 50

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Toothpaste

Okay this week I am still using the Native deodorant and it is still working well. Admittedly now that the temperatures have lowered, it doesn’t have to work quite as hard as it did before. I am almost at the tail end of the product so I will be picking up a new deodorant this week. I’m kind of hoping that they have the holiday scents out already. Last year I tried two, Peppermint, which loved and hope to buy again and Sugar Cookie which was interesting to try, but will not be making a repeat appearance. There was something off about the sugar cookie scent in a deodorant. At least for me.

The Ren cleanser is proving interesting. It cleans the skin really well and actually it is pretty good at removing makeup as well. But the clear gel formula is surprisingly difficult to get out of the bottle. You can’t squeeze the tube in the middle, you have to squeeze at the top and push the product down to the exit. I know that sounds really picky, but generally i wet my face then reach for the cleanser so I almost always have wet hands, and it is a slick tube. To use this I wet my face, then dry my hands, then reach for the cleanser. I like the product, but honestly, I don’t like how it dispenses, which honestly could prevent me from buying it again.

This week I finished the last of my Time Revolution Essence from Missha. I loved it, I used it, I reordered it and put it in the medicine cabinet where my babydoll will hopefully reach for it when he needs it. If I call it skincare, he won’t touch it. If I say it is designed to calm redness and put it in the medicine cabinet, he will reach for it. Sometimes perception is all.

So with the bottle in my skincare line up now empty, I rolled in the 111Skin Essence. I love the scent. It is refreshing and spa like. As my baby would say, ‘It smells fancy.’ And honestly I feel fancy using it. I’ve only used it for a couple of days but thus far it seems to be working well as a pore opening essence, which is sort of the point of an essence. I am happy to continue using it.

This week I am happy to say that I have finished the Seed Phytoneutriants lotion. I may have used the last little bit of moisturizer on my arms and hands as body lotion just so I could finish it up and not have to use it anymore this week. It is a good lightweight moisturizer. With the weather changing it is actually becoming a little too light weight for me. I have to admit that wasn’t why I used it up as boy lotion though. That was because I really wanted to just be done with it. While it is a good product it smells like damp hemp rope that has been molding in the back of the shed. At least that is the scent I get. I generally don’t mind the scent of hemp or CBD but for some reason this just got to me. I used it, I liked it and I am happy to let it go. I will not be repurchasing it.

I also won’t be repurchasing the Shiseido Sunscreen. As a brand I like Shiesido. In fact I have one of their moisturizers on my repurchase list. It is one I look for when the black Friday sales hit. But this sunscreen had too heavy a perfume for me. And it was a perfume scent that lingered. I used the last of the sample bottle this week, but I am very happy it is now empty. It is a great product and absorbs well, but for me the scent killed it.

The Night time line Up

Makeup Remover: Makeup Eraser Cloth

Cleanser: Ren Clean Skincare Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Oil Cleanser

Toner: Neutralyze exfoliation Toner Pads

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Vitabrid C 12 Dual Drop Serum

Eye Cream: Verso Super Eye Serum

Lips: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry

Night Mask: Elemis Peptide 4 Plumping Pillow Facial

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

This week my body sort of purged all of the excess grease and sugar that I consumed last weekend while we had company visiting, so my skin wasn’t looking it’s best. I will say that once the blemishes started to rise, the Neutralyze toner pads really came in hand. I focused on the areas where problems usually arise, however I did use them all over my face. I was very pleased that while it helped me tame the blemishes, it also didn’t dry out my skin in the places where I wasn’t breaking out. I was very impressed by that.

This week i also got a lesson in taking care of my lips. This week the Laneige Sleeping mask ended up placed behind other products and I forgot to use it. The wind has been blowing the air is dryer and my lips are actually starting to chap. I forgot completely about the sleep mask until I took the pictures for this post. So this week, I am going to see if a week of use can banish the chapping from the week of not using the mask. It didn’t help that the lip balm on my desk was swiped so i didn’t have it to hand. I keep it on my desk because if i see it, I will fiddle with it and apply it. It stops chap from happening. With the lip balm MIA I forgot about it. I also think the plumping gloss I used this week didn’t really help. I’m not sure, but I suspect.

Everything else in my list is either chugging along nicely or hasn’t been used long enough for me to get too much of an idea of whether it is effective of not. All of it feels good and this week I will be rolling in a new moisturizer. I’m not certain if i will roll in a full size or see about using up some of the samples. I’ll have to see what I feel like when I go to the skincare drawer tonight to set the line up for the morning. For now, these are the active products on my list.

The Skincare Line up: September 3rd, 2021

Ah yes, this week in skincare. It has been fun. Last week I had quite a massive patch of breakouts on my chin. For me the chin is always the canary in the coal mine for skincare concerns. It gets overly greasy first and it shows dry spots first as well. And last week it was throwing up all sorts of signals. So this week I pulled out the elements that were new in the skincare line up and went solely back to products I knew worked well. And then I played with the products i thought were causing issues.

Surprisingly all of the new products were problematic. I tried the Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle foaming cleanser. While it smelled nice, it didn’t give me a deep down clean and left far too much gunk on my face, which was not good.

The second new skincare item was the Naobay Detox Oxygen light cream. This cream smelled nice, absorbed well but was slightly too heavy for me. It also made my skin feel itchy. In order to see if it was the cream or the cream in conjunction with other products, I used this on my arm for a couple of days. In general I find if I test a product on my inner arm it will give me a good indication of what is going on. My arm was fine for the first day but by day two it was very itchy and I had to stop using the cream on my arm. So this may be a good product, but I think i may just be allergic to something in it. I’m going to have to break down the ingredients list and see if i can figure out what because I didn’t see anything problematic on the label.

One thing that also didn’t help is that last week i was testing out a Vesca primer and it made my skin itchy as well. I tested it on the inside of my other arm and after a few days of repeat use my arm broke out in a small rash.

So at least whatever it is that i am allergic to I am only slightly allergic to or it takes a while to build up to a level my skin doesn’t like. while this ingredient has yet to be identified, I know that all of the products listed below are ones my skin has no issues with and i was thrilled to be able to fall back on them. As always they behaved well and helped me calm my skin down from it’s break out session. Because there is nothing really new, there is minimal break out of the listed products this week. Just know, they all worked like rockstars.

Daytime Skin Care

Deodorant: Native Blackberry and Green Tea Deodorant

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Moisturizer: OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream

Sunscreen: Volition Prismatic Luminizing Shield in SPF 50

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

Yup a return to what I know works. I think the Korres Cleanser needs an extra special shout out though. because of last week’s cleanser, I realized just how fantastic this product was. This will not be my last bottle of the Korres Foaming Cleanser.

Night time Skincare

Makeup Remover: Peach Pudding Makeup Remover

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

With the night products the only thing to really report is that the Peach pudding makeup Remover and the Wander Beauty Night Mask are both almost empty. I have about one week or so left in the makeup remover and maybe two nights worth of the Wander Beauty do not disturb. Both have been fantastic products to use and I will be sad to see them go. I will definitely pick up the Peach Pudding makeup remover again. It is from Peach and Lily and the only products it had issues with were a few of my mascaras. As my Makeup Eraser took care of any left over mascara I didn’t think it much of a problem. The container cost $9.99 and lasted over a month so there are no complaints there either. in fact because Peach and Lily is having a massive 50% off labor day sale, I might stock up on this now that it is on sale.

the Wander Beauty night mask I would use again as well. They too are having a large labor Day sale if you are interested. I actually have a second container of this mask in my skin care drawer waiting it’s turn to be used so I don’t need to repurchase it anytime soon, however it is one that I will happily use again.

and now that my skin is calming down once again I am looking forward to slowly adding in new products. with luck this time there won’t be any drastic reactions.
