The Daily: July 19th, 2021

Happy Monday to one and all. I don’t know about you but I had a fabulous weekend. It was nice and quiet with just basic chores done around the house and lots of down time. I know it doesn’t sound all that exciting but after the excitement of the past few months, I am beginning to treasure quiet weekends far more than wild nights out.

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy gathering with friends but it is so nice to just be able to shut down for a little bit. I did binge watch about half a season of RuPaul’s Drag race this weekend. Paramount + has the original Drag Race, plus All-stars. i think they have other varieties too, but I haven’t checked. I have to say, for $4.99 that is a pretty good streaming service. Why women Kill and Evil have both drawn me in. I kind of wanted RuPaul for something a little more light hearted.

Plus it is fun to have on while playing with Eyeshadow. I always end up a little more colorful than I intended.

At the moment I am trying out a product that Billion Dollar Beauty sent me. It is the Beauty box. It is a box that is like a magnetic palette except that the lid is a mirror with it’s own kickstand so it can stand up for use. They also sent me several pans to put in the box. I’ll be testing it out this week and seeing what I think of both the box and how it functions as well as the products inside.

Today’s Look:

Primer Stila Illuminating Skin veil Primer

Foundation: Pacifica Alight Foundation

Bronzer Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

Blush: Billion Dollar Beauty in Amour

Highlighter Billion Dollar Beauty in Mystic

Brow: Billion Dollar Beauty Brow Gel in Taupe

Eyeshadow: Billion Dollar Beauty in Moon

Lips Billion Dollar Beauty in Custard

Powder: Becca Pink Haze Setting Powder

Mascara: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara

Setting Spray: Farsali Rose gold Face spray

Over all I chose products I knew and liked so that I could concentrate on the Billion Dollar Beauty products. and yes the Marc Jacobs Mascara is the new one that I said I wasn’t going to open for a while. I just couldn’t resist. It was my favorite mascara for so long and then i didn’t use it for a while so I wanted to see if it was still as good as I remember. If anything it is better. I absolutely love the way my lashes look with this formula.

Everything else I used worked well for me as always. I will discuss the box once I’ve had some time to use it. For now I am going to focus on the products. The blush was light but buildable, which is how I prefer my blushes actually. I would rather have to add more to achieve the effect I want than have to reduce product so that I void looking like a clown. This was a very good buildable blush.

The highlighter took me a few minutes to work with. I think that is because lately I have been going for more gold and pink tones with my highlight so that thay can easily blend in with my skin yet still give me a soft glow. It has been a while since I have used a highlight this tone. It is more in the silver white range. It does blend in well but the silver was brighter than I am used to. I like how it turned out, but it was a slight adjustment on my part. I think that as I work with it, I will like it better.

There were two brow products in the package sent over by Billion Dollar Beauty. One is powder and one is a cream. I like the powder and found it worked decently, but i prefer the cream. I don’t know if it was the color or the way it worked with the bruch, but I really enjoyed the cream brow product. I will have to make an effort to use the powder now that I know I like the cream so I will hold off judgement on that but the brow cream in taupe is definitely a product i will remember and reorder when this pan becomes empty.

The lips are cream pans as well. I like how the one I used today applied. I like how it felt on the lips and how well it lasted. The color is a bit light for me. I think the other two look a little darker, so they might be more to my taste. The formula is really good though so I think it is definitely worth going to look at their color range. I have two more lipstick pans to try out so I’ll leave the investigation to later.

Which finally brings us to the eyeshadows. There were two sent in the package, one matte and one shimmer. I went solely with the matte today in a look that is very unusual for me. I just used the light pink of moon. the look is really strange for me since a single pale eyeshadow is never how I do my eyeshadow, but I wanted to test out the formula of the Billion Dollar Brow Mattes. I really liked it actually. It is quite pigmented, didn’t creas, was easy to apply and stayed in place all day. As the other shadow in the box is a pink shimmer, I think I may have to pull out a couple of other shades to play around with as I use these two colors. For now, I was highly impressed with the matte.

And that is today’s look. It was a little different for me, and while I like how the face turned out, and the formula of the eyeshadow, I am not sure this look is quite for me. I find the pink eyes on me strange. Thus far the products are working well and for a first test the Billion Dollar Beauty products are working well.

And theat Marc Jacobs Mascara. There is a reason that Velvet Noir has long been one of my favorites. Sometimes you just need to take a break to remember just how fabulous something is.

Weely Weight: 210.6 lbs

March 27th, 2020

Yeah, I knew there was going to be a significant weight gain. I was hoping it was less, but given everything I am not surprised. There was the lack of any form of work out last week combined with over eating very highly caloric foods. There was also stress.

Stress always makes me gain weight, or at least it has in the past. I don’t see why that would actually change.

But this week I started in on a new plan. I added a bit of yoga stretching and a segment of hand weights to my week to make up for the gym. I meant to add a third but there was a bit of a kerfuffle, Apparently our internet provider was not prepared for so many people to work remotely so wednesday I couldn’t get a video to load without spending more time looking at the circular loading symbol than the actual video. Thursday of course I did the weights again.

In general my gym sessions aren’t designed to burn massive calories though, I do it for my strength training more or less and burn calories with my walk. And when it is raining I use the gym’s treadmills.

So with the constant rain for the past week or so, either my walking around the block between bursts of rain did nothing or it did something and I was just worse off last week than I thought. Because I was kind enough to myself not to actually step on the scale at the end of last week, we will never know.

And quite frankly I am fine with that.

This week we got things situated so my baby can work from home and neither go bonkers nor drive me to the brink of insanity. which is a pretty big victory. Although I now have a standing lunch date as he more or less figures that if he is taking a lunch break then I should too, There are worse things.

The electronics seemed to have sorted themselves out and after a full day of no rain yesterday, I went to check the walking trail and the flood waters were receding. I should actually be able to walk today in a normal fashion. As the lack of walking was beginning to make me feel antsy I am very happy to report that. So while I am not pleased with the weight gain, I was expecting it and in an effort to practice self-care, I am calling this a re-boot. I am not going to list how much I gained in my stats today (although you can easily do the math, I did it in my head already) I am going to simply take this as current weight and move on. As I become more comfortable with home workouts and begin walking again, I’m sure the numbers on the scale will once again be in decline and my spirits will rise. What that rate will be is anyone’s guess. For now I am happy to one again have a routine. Or at least the start of one. Please let me know if you find my Home Fitness Posts helpful or if you’d like to see something added or taken away from them. Or if you’d like me to drop them all together. For those who come more for the beauty related topics, next week I will be catching up on some of my palette posts as I got a bit slack with posting them. I have been practicing my swatching though so they might be more helpful this time around.

So to the stats.

Starting Weight: 246.0 lbs

Current Weight: 210.6 lbs

Amount of weight lost to date: 35.4 lbs

Weight left to lose (apx.): 87.6 lbs

Okay folks there is the reboot. we will see where things go from here as we step out into this brave new world of ours. Well not too far out as we are all mostly still practicing self-isolation.
