Mother’s Day Gifts: Missha Time Revolution 5x Best Sellers Set

It is time to begin the hunt for the best Mother’s day presents. From now until April 30th I will be posting about various Mother’s day gifts for those of you looking to shop (for your mother, yourself or a mother-like figure in your life). Hopefully it will provide you some inspiration as you look for the perfect gift.

Growing up my mother always claimed that for Mother’s day she just wanted a nice quiet relaxing day.  So we concentrated on home spa like gifts, as we got older the gifts branched out of the drug store bubble bath into more luxurious pampering and included both spa like bath elements and skincare.   There was also the occasional delicate snack and or sweet (chocolate covered strawberries anyone?).  In general though I tend to go for gift boxes and as we roll towards the end of April and into May I’m going to bring up some of my favorites and hopefully help inspire your gift giving this Mother’s day.

Today we are going to start with the Missha Time Revolution 5x Best Sellers Set. Usually this set retails for $106.00 however they have a Mother’s Day sale going on and you can pick it up for $42.40.  Which is 60% off (for those of you who don’t want to do the math).

In this gift basket is a full sized version of the Missha Time Revolution The First Essence 5x.  This Essence alone retails for $54 (and is so worth it.).  This link will take you to my first use post of the Time Revolution The First Essence 5X. I just finished the second week of the full trial and I absolutely adore this essence.  It has almost no scent to it and feels fresh and clean on the skin. I will be using every last drop of this essence.

There is also an opening up feeling when the essence touches the skin, which is perfect as the main point of the essence is to open up the skin so that more of your skincare products can be more readily absorbed.  I also have to say my skin has been looking pretty good since I started using this essence and feeling even better. It is really easy to see why this is a best seller.

Especially going into the summer months.  It not only opens the skin but it hydrates as well and anything that can help me lock moisture into my skin when I start to spend more and more time outside in the sun is a big win in my book.  And since I learned my gardening skills from my mother, who will also be spending most of the summer in her garden, this is a winner.

Of course it isn’t the only item in the gift basket. If it were it wouldn’t really be a gift set, it would just be a single product.  Which would be fine, I would be thrilled with just the essence as the gift, however it is a set.

The set includes Time Revolution The First Essence 5X (150 ml and 30 ml) so you get the full sized version and the travel sixed one which I didn’t realize they had a travel sized version and will be looking into that for next years’ stocking stuffers for my skin care minded family members now that I do. It also includes the Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule 5X (50 ml and 10 ml), Time Revolution Night Repair Ampoule Cream 5X (10 ml).  That’s five separate products.  And it is currently on sale for less than the cost of just the First Essence.

I’ve tried several products from the Time Revolution line and ended up loving each and every one of them.  And with each product it is easy to see why Missha is a trusted Korean Skincare Brand.  If you are looking for a skincare related Mother’s Day present, I think this would be a fantastic option. It is a good value (even without the sale), excellent products and it comes in a lovely box.  It is certainly on my list of possible gifts.

Missha has several different gift basket options so you can choose the one that most suits you (or your mother’s) skin care and beauty needs. The Time Revolution Best Sellers Set is my personal favorite but I’ve liked the Missha Mother’s Day Gift Guide below if you want to see what other fabulous offers they have this year so that you can find the perfect gift.

MISSHA Mother’s Day Gift Guide

The Skincare Line Up: April 8th, 2022

This week I feel a little bit bad for my skincare. I have several breakouts, but they are the result of too much sugar in my week. I won’t harp on it here because i have mentioned it a lot this week. But it does make me feel bad for my skincare. they put in the effort, I simply sabotaged them when they weren’t looking. You may notice that there are a lot of products in that picture above, mush more than is usual, even for me. Many of those bottles are actually empty. And a couple of the items are rolled in as replacements. Also I have two non-daily products in the mix, on for Tuesdays and Thursdays and one for every other day.

I’ll separate them out below so this week there are three sections; Day, Night, and Other. The picture to the left is my bare skin. I forgot to take it in the bathroom, but as I hadn’t put on my makeup for the day, i went ahead and took the pic at my desk, hence the light and backdrop difference. Also I finished my Native Deodorant (actually the last of it popped out of the tube unexpectedly and landed on the floor). I had an extra Dove Deodorant in the drawer (I keep it as back up for when I am testing natural deodorants that may or may not work) which I pressed into service. So now that I have given a lengthy intro to match the extra products pictured, let’s get into it. As always, we will start with the day time lineup.

The Daytime Line Up

Cleanser: Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash

Essence: Time Revolution The First Essence 5X from Missha (currently 30% off but get an extra 20 % off with code EASTER20 – sitewide sale code)

Serum: The Nue Co’s The Pill

Toner: Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic

Eye Cream: MZ Skin Sooth and Smooth eye cream

Moisturizer: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre (Sensitive)

Sunscreen: Light Hearted Broad Spectrum SPF 30 from Sunday Riley

Okay we have a few changes this week. I finished up the Missha Cleanser. Although gone, it will be returning. I pulled this Kate Somerville from the collection of cleansers I need to work through. It is a clear gel. It smells slightly florally but the scent is very light. The cleanser has minimal foaming but seems to work well. To be honest the most notable part of it thus far is the cap. Instead of twisting off, it twists and opens a hole in the center so you don’t have to fumble with putting the lid down somewhere while you use it. I am a fan of this. Thus far the cleanser is nice. I have no problems continuing to use it, but at this stage the cap is the most notable element.

I live the Missha essence. It is quite fabulous. almost no scent whatsoever so if you are sensitive to scents this might be something for you to look into. It absorbs quickly and I j=know this will sound strange but when applying it I feel as though my skin is opening up. Like my pores are opening wide. It is an odd sensation. Not a bad one, just odd. But as essences are designed to open the skin to increase the efficacy of the other skin care you are using I suppose that is a good thing. I kind of like the feeling too.

The Pill by the Nue co is about half way finished and while I love the shape of the bottle and how it fits in the hand the serum itself is kind of meh. I have two Nue Co products in my line up and the other (used at night) is really great. I am just not really liking this one.

The Pixi glow tonic toner is completely empty. It was nice. I like Pixi by Petra’s toners. they generally work out well for me. My favorite is the clarity toner so I would probably purchase that one over this one, but this was a nice, lightly exfoliating toner. I haven’t chosen it’s replacement yet but in the Other section below there is a toner used once every other day so I’ll need to roll in something for the between times.

The sensitive Embryolisse cream has been interesting. This is the first week of use actually. I really like it. It has much less of a scent. It is still there and still the same scent as the original, but it is less present. In addition the cream is a slight bit lighter. I think this is perfect timing as we are starting to see warmer days. The sensitive cream is performing just as well as the others and there has been no noticeable difference. I think there will be more of a difference as the sun heats up and I am curious to see how it performs as a pre makeup base, but for now I am thrilled with it.

And speaking of the sun, the time has come where a daily sunscreen is no longer optional. I know, I need it year round, but the truth is I spend a lot more time indoors during the winter and when walking outside for the daily walks I use a spray sunscreen before I leave the house but don’t add it into my skincare line up. Once April hits, this changes and sunscreen is placed in the skincare line up. (I still add the spray sunscreen before my walk as a back up just incase I forgot.)

I tried a small sample of this Sunday Riley sunscreen and really liked it. So I was happy to have a full size to try out. When dispensed it has a slight pink tint to it and it has a light scent. It is one of those creams that needs to warm up a bit. There will be a little bit of white cast when first applied but as the cream warms to your skin it absorbs in and the white disappears. As with moisturizers that do this, just put it in your hand and let it warm up a second before applying and there is no white at all. I am rather enjoying this sunscreen.

The Nighttime Line Up

Cleanser: Kate Somerville Gentle Daily Wash

Essence: Time Revolution The First Essence 5X from Missha (currently 30% off but get an extra 20 % off with code EASTER20 – sitewide sale code)

Makeup Remover: Sunday Riley Vitamin C Makeup Removing Oil Paired with the Makeup Cloths from The Turkish Towel Company (currently on sale on the site) rolling in the Yensa CBD Superfood Dual Cleansing Oil

Serum: The Nue Co Topical C

Facial Oil: Byroe Fig Recovery oil

Eye Cream: MZ Skin Sooth and Smooth eye cream

Moisturizer: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre (Sensitive)

Lips: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in berry

As usual I won’t cover the items I talked about in the day since they performed as well at night as they did in the day (if they didn’t I would mention it). The last of the Sunday Riley makeup remover was used this week. I think it might have been discontinued. If not, then I would buy it again as it is a really good makeup remover. The bottle is empty and it will be tossed away. I used the Yensa last night for the first time. well first time for this bottle. I’ve used it before. It was interesting. I had one bottle, loved it and then picked up a discounted bottle that I think might have been a little old. The scent was stronger but it worked just as well as before. I think the older the product is the more like CBD oil it smells. It still works, but the scent is stronger. So check your dates. This is a fresh bottle and the scent is barely noticeable. it wasn’t until I applied water to rinse it off that I really got much of a scent at all. It is a great product and I am happy to use it, I just thought you might want to be aware of that.

The topical C powder to add to moisturizers is really nice. It is my favorite Nue Co product. It is one that I will consistently repurchase as it is a great way to add just a little extra Vitamin c to the routine. I tend to use it at night only because too much vitamin c in the day makes me a little sun sensitive. so if that is an issue for you, you might want to watch it. I like that I can add as much or as little as I like.

The Fig recovery oil is almost empty. It has a week, maybe two left of use. It is a nice dry oil that won’t leave your skin feeling greasy. I’m not sure it is better than other oils. I like Byroe as a brand and there are other products I will always repurchase (their Bitter Greens Toning Essence is fantastic) but while I have no problems using this oil again, I don’t think it is one I would seek out. It would be something i would add to my cart if I was shopping on the site, but not the reason I was shopping on the site.

The Others

Alpha H Liquid Gold with Glycolic Acid – A toner used every other day

Shani Darden Retinol Reform (used Tuesday and Thursday nights)

With these two products I am making certain that I don’t use them on the same days. So I skipped the weekend with the Alpha H just so I wouldn’t use it on the Tuesdays and Thursdays I am using the retinol. while they are working well I am kind of glad that the Retinol Reform is a sample size. I think in my routine i should only use one of these at a time. But the retinol is about half empty (sample size) so I will finish with it and then just be left with the Alpha H.

Both of these products tingle on the skin. The Alpha H more than the Retinol. I would not use either during the day. While the Alpha H was noticeably tingly with the first use, each additional use the tingle becomes less. I don’t know if i am just becoming used to it but on my first use I was somewhat concerned. Then things went well. It is too early to really sea a difference with either but aside from the sugar fueled break outs, my skin feels really good. I’m monitoring it in case it becomes too much, but this far, I am liking both of these products, the Alpha H especially.

And that has been my skin care for the week. I know there were a lot of generalizations for the newer products but as I get the feel of them and they settle in to longer usage I’ll have more specifics on each. And now it is on with Friday. I hope you have a good one.

First Use of the Time Revolution Artemisia Pack Foam Cleanser

Oh my darlings, I know this summer Time Revolution came to my rescue with the Artemisia essence. It is from the brand Missha and was not only a great toner, but one of those products that really helped my skin out when I spent too much time in the sun. And let’s face it, last summer I spent too much time in the sun. It has also been great on wind damaged skin as well. we gat a lot of cold harsh wind in the winter and my babydoll spends a portion of his day outside for work so he often has windburn on his cheeks. I put a bottle of the essence in his medicine cabinet and he has been using it regularly for that and loves it.

(Incidentally the Essence is on sale at the moment. Usually $55 it is 30% off and listed at $38.50, but you can also get a further 20% off your whole order with the code FEB20. Knowing I will go through a bottle this summer, I went ahead and stocked up.)

So when I saw that Missha had a cleanser from the same line, I knew I had to give it a try. According to the product page the Time Revolution Artemisia Pack Foam Cleanser is…

2-in-1 foaming cleanser and soothing clay mask to relieve the skin of redness and irritation as well as reduce the skin’s production of excess sebum and oils. Made with double-fermented artemisia (mugwort) extract harvested from a mineral-rich environment.

Recommended for: sensitive/irritated/acne skin.

And let me tell you at the moment my skin is quite irritated. I tried a moisturizer that was far too hydrating and my skin broke out. Also I’ve been spending more time with a mask on, which isn’t helping.

Now being the keep observers, you may notice that this doesn’t sound like your ordinary cleanser. The word mask is in there. So I looked at recommended usage.

As a foam cleanser: Put an appropriate amount on the palm of your hand and massgae it gently into the skin then rinse with lukewarm water.

As a clay pack: Put an appropriate amount on dry hands. Spread evenly on your face avoiding the eye and mouth area. Let it dry for a minute. Rinse off in lukewarm water while massaging your face gently.

Missha (how to use section)

Now this post is only about this product as a cleanser. I will use it as a mask, but for my first use I used it as a cleanser, mostly because I picked it up as a cleanser. First, I have to talk about the scent. It is slightly herbal-ly floral. That is my best description. It kind of smells like it should be a health food. The scent is pretty mild and fades quickly. It smells nice while it lasts. All green and healthy. The cleanser is green too.

cleanser applied

Even though it says mask, I was not expecting it to look so much like a clay mask. In my surprise I put way too much product in my hand. I think I need about half of what is pictured here in order to cleanse my face. I wet my face down as I would with any cleanser, then applied the Time Revolution Cleanser. I found myself applying it like a mask, just due to the consistency of the product. It has a mask like texture to it. However when I wet my hands and added more water to my face, the mask foamed up and rinsed off cleanly. there was no sort of mask removing scrubbing needed. It foamed and rinsed off like a normal cleanser.

foams and rinses right off

I was actually quite pleased with my first use. The product didn’t irritate any of my breakouts, rinsed away cleanly with no residue left behind and my skin felt clean, soft and nourished. I already know from the essence that my skin reacts really well to Artemisia and I think that the artemisia did help bring down some of my irritation. Time and repeated use will let me know if this Artemisia Pack Foam Cleanser is a product that I will purchase as routinely as I pick up the essence, but for a first test it really performed well. Of course I still have to test it out as a mask. Won’t that be fun?

The Daily: June 29th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings. Today, things got a little out of hand. I was feeling better and decided that since the weather wasn’t as hot as it has been, I would take my bike out and go for a ride. It was nice. Very nice. The wind was blowing, the flowing air kept me cool and there was virtually no one on the trail while I was riding. It was amazing.

And I completely lost track of time. I then made it home and when I got off the bike realized that my rear end was numb from the seat and then my legs had turned to jelly. I suspect tomorrow morning will be a bit on the achy side. But I enjoyed myself and it was nice to have a bit of a change up in the exercise plan. Unfortunately, my plan was to only be out about half an hour and I ended up being out three. Which sort of shoved everything else to the side and now i am going to be scrambling for the rest of the day.

Also despite the cool breeze flowing past me as I rode my bike, the sun was still beaming down on me and even though I am plastered with sunscreen the sun took it’s toll. And so there is no makeup for today, however I am employing my Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha. It was sent to me by the brand and I have to say it is becoming one of my summer staples. Mostly in my skin care line up, but also for pinch hitting when I’ve spent too much time outside. While I am using reusable rounds for most of my skin care, I do have some older disposable cotton rounds that I am trying to use up so I can then go with the completely reusable ones. Today the disposable ones are perfect. I am soaking them into the Time revolution Essence and taking ten minutes to just lay down with them ovr key parts of my face to tame down the irritation and redness form the sun.

I know it is a little extra time out of my day, but it is so worth it. I have got to start remembering to set a timer for my bike rides. And to get a hat. With the wind I forget how strong the sun is. I really need to buy a hat. For now however it is Artemisia to the rescue.

I hope whatever your afternoon has planed, you take a little time to look out for yourself as well as everything else.
