The Skincare Line Up: December 2nd, 2022

This week is a short little line up as I try to use up the products I took traveling with me. There is an eye cream missing from the line up a I finished out the MZ Skin Lift and Luminate Eye cream while I was out of town and sent the jar into the recycling bin at my mothers’ place. It was a glass jar and they have a better system for dealing with glass than we do here. So without further Ado, let’s jump in and have a look shall we?

Cleanser: Osea Ocean Cleanser

Toner: Best Face Forward Clarifying toner

Serum: Skin Inc Supplement Bar French Pine Bark Serum

Moisturizer: OGEE Velvet Botanical Moisturizer

Lips: Sephora Vanilla Lip Balm/scrub

I first came across this cleanser in a Petit Vour Box. It is a fantastic subscription box if you are looking to try out some clean beauty products. OSEA as a brand is pretty pricy. I have tried a few other products and I generally like them but very few of them I love. I have one or two items in my skin care drawer I still need to try. This cleanser however I absolutely love. There is minimal foaming but a really great clean and to me this cleanser always smells like lime sherbet. I have no clue why something called Ocean Cleanser smells like lime sherbet, but to me it does. I have been holding onto this travel sized cleanser to use when i traveled for thanksgiving for a few months now and it was so worth it. As alwasys I will use every last drop of this and then look at the $48 full sized bottle and promise myself that once i have used up a certain amount of cleansers I will be back to purchase this in the full size. Meanwhile I treat myself to a $12 travel sized version whenever I know I am going to be traveling.

When packing, I forgot to pack a toner actually. I think I looked at the Elemis I was using and thought, I’m sure i have a smaller bottle that would travel better.’ and then just forgot. when I got home I had several breakouts and since BFF is generally good with break outs, I went for it since I had so many travel products out anyway. It is a nice cleanser and i think it really is helping to clarify my pores or at least not make things worse. Which is what I need. o I will continue finishing this out and then go back to the open Elemis. The BFF toner is one that I would consider having on hand while there is more holiday fare in my future so A bottle may soon be purchased.

I’ll be honest I chose this serum at random from the travel sized bottles of serum and I didn’t actually look to see what French Pine Bark was supposed to do. Apparently the serum fights signs of aging and evens out skin tone. While I can see a little evening of the skin tone, I haven’t used it long enough to see any major effects. I will say that my skin drank it it and felt silky soft after it absorbed. The serum absorbed quickly with no sticky residue, it just melted into the skin. It has no scent to it either. I really like the look of the suspended pink bits. I have no idea what they are but they disappear on the skin and have no texture to the, (I thought they might be exfoliating, they aren’t.). I don’t know if there is enough product to last long enough to show effect but I really hope there is a good effect as it feels so nice on the skin. For that alone I would contemplate a full sized bottle.

The OGEE Velvet Moisturizer is just that a moisturizer that feels velvety against the skin. since I was in the middle of testing it, this moisturizer was the only one I took home. It is a fantastic day cream. It is composed of organic and clean ingredients I feel good about putting on my skin and the white glass with gold accents is beautiful. The scent is a mix of aloe and jojoba oil, both of which are in the moisturizer. With both of them it should come as no surprise that it feels great oin the skin and softens as well as moisturizes. As I said it is fantastic as a day cream. It is a little light for me to use as a night cream. I like a little added moisture at night and this really could have used a little back up. Not much of one actually. if I had rolled in a night mask a couple of times a week it would be fantastic. It just needs a little boost for the night. However because it needs only a slight boost for me in the winter when my skin is the driest it will be all year, I am fairly sure that at any other time of the year i could use this moisturizer without needing back up or without it being too much moisture for my skin. It is definitely a product I will get again. At the moment though I am pretty sure it will run out sometime next week. I will be using every drop and will post a full review as the trial of the OGEE moisturizer comes to an end.

I am finally down to but a nub of product in the Sephora lip scrub. It is very unevenly mixed. The first two weeks I used it, the product was mostly lip balm with a little bit of scrub to it. Then there were more scrubby bits for a little while before it became mostly balm again. Now I am back to the scrubby bits. I don’t know if the exfoliation particles were added in bands or if the mix was just not mixed well. It is a decent enough lip scrub. In the end it isn’t something I would go out of my way for, but it is something i would toss into a Sephora cart when i was shopping if I needed to get my cart price just a little bit higher to get free shipping. i know it is something i will use and it is not a bad product. it just isn’t all that noteworthy.

And so my darlings that is my skincare for the week. Most of these items will be finished up next week and new ones will take their place in the grant circle of skincare lineups. Until then, Have a great Friday.

The Skincare Lineup: November 18th, 2022

Good morning my darlings and welcome to the Friday Skincare line up. Here we discuss all of the products in my line up and how I feel about them. As you can see we have a couple of changes but most everything is still in motion from last week. Let’s dive in and see how all the products are playing with each other, shall we?

Cleanser (day time): Glam Glow Supercleanse Clearing Cream to Foam Cleanser

Cleanser (night Time): Milk Wash Exfoliating Jelly Cleanser from Beekman 1802

Toner: Elemis Superfood Fruit Vinegar Liquid Glow

Serum (night Time): Ole Henriksen Truth Serum (night)

Serum (day time): Beekman 1802 Collagen Electric Daisy and Peptide Booster (day)

Eye cream: MZ skin Eye cream

Moisturizer: OGEE Velvet Botanical Moisturizer

Lip Mask: Tatcha Kissu lip mask

I know a lot of this looks similar to the week before but there were some exciting changes this week. Forst let’s look at the cleansers. The Glamglow has been in for a few weeks at this point and I really like it. It’s strength is pulling clogged pores to the surface. It’s weakness is leaving gray charcoal film all over the sink so that it needs to be wiped down after every use. (I wipe it down while I am brushing my teeth actually and it works well, just don’t let it dry).

but for every clogged pore brought to the surface, an exfoliator is needed to send it on it’s way. This week I rolled in the Milk Wash From Beekman 1802. It is an exfoliating Jelly cleanser. And it is a really interesting product to use. It dispenses like a clear jelly and you apply it to a dry face. I remove my makeup pat my skin dry and let my skin dry off completely before I go in with this cleanser. As I take my makeup off after dinner and don’t wash my face until bedtime it works well for me. The cleanser feels almost like a light Vaseline on the skin. It foams up a but when you add water and wash it off. Th9is was it’s first week of use but I can feel that with the one two punch of clearing cleanser in the morning and exfoliating cleanser at night my face is clearer.

You know I love Elemis and you know I love this toner. It works well and I think the scent of it is just fabulous. It’s a bit like a fermented apple cider. So perfect for the time of year and yet still fresh feeling.

With the serums I suppose I could layer them but i tend to like my Vitamin C serums in the night so I just reach for the Collagen serum in the morning and the Truth Serum at night. Even when there is sun out, this Truth Serum is fine for me to use during the day. I’ve used it before and had no sun sensitivity from it. the collagen booster is helping to lock in moisture during the day. It is slightly stick even after it sort of dries down but applying a moisturizer right after it has had time to settle ends the stick factor so that it isn’t a problem. the truth serum doesn’t have any issues with stickiness. It also smells like freshly squeezed orange juice. I suppose that should make me want to use it in the morning but there is something nice about using it in the evening. Both serums work well with the moisturizer I am currently using.

This week I finished up the night cream I was using so I used the OGEE for both morning and night time application. It worked well until about Wednesday. And I think the reason things changed was the central heating. Until now it has only kicked on a few times a night. Starting around Wednesday it kicked on repeatedly during the day and then ran most of the night. The more the heat kicks on the drier my skin becomes. The OGEE moisturizer is a fantastic day cream and I can continue to use it as a day cream, but i am going to need to bring in a night mask at least twice a week if I am to continue using this as my full time moisturizer while the heat is running.

I don;t mind that actually. I am perfectly fine having a day cream and a night cream. In the warmer months it isn’t that big a necessity. It is only in the winter when the temperatures drop and the indoor air becomes dry that I need a day time and night time moisturizer. It is a split that occurs pretty much every time the seasons change. So I will be rolling in a Night mask a couple of times a week until I reach the end of this moisturizer. other than that, I really enjoy the OGEE moisturizer. And I love that it is clean skincare.

I can’t say that I love the MZ Skincare eye cream. It is okay. It isn’t too heavy and I haven’t noticed any real clogging of the pores where I apply it (for me that is an area that gets clogged pores easily) but I haven’t really noticed too much in the way of line plumping of the crow’s feet either. it is still early thought. I am just at the thirty day mark with this eye cream so maybe I will wake up on day 31 with baby smooth skin. It is doubtful of course. I will keep using it until I get back from Thanksgiving (because it is open, small and easy to travel with). After that i will do a bit more of an evaluation.

And then finally we have the lip mask. The Tatcha Kissu lip mask is still working fantastically well. I am trying to finish out the Sephora lip scrub. It is less fantastic. It is one of those products that is okay and if I was trying to get my order up to get free shipping I would add to the cart, but it isn’t something I would specifically go to Sephora to order. It is fine to use if you come across it, just not worth seeking out.

And so that is my skincare line up this week, the good, the not so good and the forgettable. There really wasn’t anything bad, but there were a few fabulous items and a couple I can’t want to see continue on to hopefully show results. And now we dive into the work day that is Friday. I hope you have a fantastic one.

The Skincare Lineup: October 28th, 2022

Last week I had a full line up of the Eight Saint’s discovery kit. There were a few products in there that i liked enough to try out in the full size and at the beginning of the week I used up the last of the products in the containers and rolled in this week’s line up. When I can I like to roll in a product at a time rather than start all new products on the exact same day. I find it keeps my skin from freaking out over too much change and it also helps me know which product or interaction between products is causing any issues if they arise.

So some of these products have had a few more days in the line up than others. In fact last night was my first night with both the eye cream and the night time moisturizer. The eye cream I have had before but the night cream is completely new. still, let’s dive into the line up, shall we?

Cleanser: Glam Glow Supercleanse Clearing Cream to Foam Cleanser

Exfoliator: Kate Somerville Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment

Toner: Elemis Superfood Fruit Vinegar Liquid Glow

Serum: Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

Eye cream: MZ skin Eye cream

Moisturizer: Tatcha The Dewy Skin cream

Night Time Moisturizer: Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair

Lip Mask: Tatcha Kissu lip mask

While I did a first use review on this cleanser, after a few days I am noticing some effects that I think are based on it’s use. This is a clearing cleanser and has a lot in common with the clearing masks from Glamglow. As I am using it, I am noticing that there are clogged pores being brought to the surface. As some of them are quite deep and I have been trying to bring up for a while, I am quite pleased by this development. I liked the cleanser just for the clean it gave my skin, but I really like this aspect of it.

It is also why I have rolled in the Exfolikate from Kate Somerville. I did a first use of this but then I set it aside as the Eight Saints had an Exfoliator in the kit and I wanted to see how it worked. Now I will be rolling this back in for regular use and I am hoping it works well with the cleanser to clear away some of my deeply clogged pores. It is in the line up, but first use back in the line up will be tonight.

Elemis is one of my favorite brands. Every product I have tried from them has worked well for my skin and I have never had any adverse effects. I am always willing to try another of their products. Mostly because I am positive it will not break me out. This toner has a scent that is like apricot with a vinegar back to it. Given the name that makes a lot of sense. It is a good toner and I really like the dispenser for it. Just remember to put the cotton pad, or reusable round over the the hole in the top before pressing down or the toner will fountain up. I find one pump is all I actually need for the amount of product I need on my face so I imagine I will get a lot of use out of this bottle.

The Ole Henriksen I used for the first time this morning as I was finishing out the serum from Eight Saints. One pump was more than enough to cover my face and neck. This Vitamin C serum absorbs quickly with no stickiness and it is quite a lovely glass bottle on top of that. I think I am really going to get a good use out if this. I think i might roll in a collagen serum to pair with this as well, but thus far, I like it.

This MZ Skin Eye cream I have used before. I received it in a subscription box, tried it, liked it and then set it aside for some reason. I can’t remember what. Since it was open I rolled it back into the line up to use up. This far I am liking it. It is a thick cream. I think it is a little over priced, but I do like that it is a thick cream that absorbs well and quickly into the skin. Who knows, with regular use I may see that it is worth its rather large price tag. For now I am happy using it.

My moisturizer is currently a deluxe sample of the Tatcha Dewy skin. I know and love the Water cream. I have tried the Dewy Skin cream and for most of the year it is too much moisture for my skin. (I am normal to combo skin wise). the Tatcha Water Cream is great for me, but in the winter I find I can only use it during the day and at night it is not enough. With the weather cooling down and the heat clicking on more and more often, this is proving to be a good daytime moisturizer for me right now. The scent is a little strong, but it is a scent I like so I don’t mind. It is the same scent as The Silk Canvas Primer actually. My only issue right now is that it does take a little while to absorb into the skin. I generally find myself finishing with the moisturizer and then letting it settle with a cup or two of coffee before i attempt to put my makeup over it. It is a moisturizer that on me at least needs time to settle in.

I had only one use of this Indigo cream thus far but I do like it. It is fragrance free so if you have issues with scent this might be something to look into. It is a thick cream, but oddly it absorbs faster than the Dewy Cream. I had no issues with it absorbing, My skin drank it in and this morning I was pleased with how soft my skin felt. It was a first use, so my skin could have been just extra dry for the night, but I have no problem continuing to use it and see how it works over time. while this is a deluxe sample, I do have a second deluxe sample that I might just roll into use right after this one. It will clear out some samples and give me a better idea of how the night cream works.

Also I am using the Tatcha samples now so I can get a better feel for them before I dive into their skincare kits. They have several that are available throughout the year, but there are more kits coming for the holidays so I am trying to decide which products I would really like to look at purchasing in the full size.

And finally we round out the line up with another Tatcha product. That’s right, it is the lip mask. I love this lip mask and while in the warmer months I will occasionally skip lip treatments at night, I find using a mask like this every night helps prevent the winter chapped lips. For me this is important because in general I tend to find that i will pick at my lips once they get dry. I don’t do it intentionally, it is something I do when i am working on something else and not thinking. It causes a lot of trouble. So it is is much better for me if they never reach that chapped stage. It is why the nightly lip mask from now until Easter is a key facet of my skincare regimen.

And so my darlings that is me today. Or this week technically. All of these products will be with me going into next week (and beyond actually as they are just started)I am actually quite pleased with how all of them are performing actually so i have no problems continuing to use them. And tonight I will roll the Exfoliator into the routine on a regular basis. And so on we go. Have a great Friday everyone.

The Skincare Lineup: March 25th, 2022

Good morning my darlings. It is time for the most fabulous post of the week. Or at least the one I have the most fun with. That’s right, it’s time to talk skincare. And today I have an added bit. I decided that I am going to add in a photo of my bare skin taken first thing on Friday morning so that you can see how my skin actually looks as well as seeing the products I am using and reading my thoughts about them

Feel free to zoom in as close as you care to look, I won’t judge. I did have a bit of a break out on my chin this week. But that was due to me spending an inordinate amount of time with a face mask and of using a clay mask to draw out the buried clogged pores. This week, there were some on my chin. The mask brought them up and I am now clearing them away. So first a picture of my skin and then, we are off to the skincare races. Or at least this week’s line up.

The Daytime Line Up

Cleanser: Time Revolution Artemisia Pack Foam Cleanser from Missha

Essence: 111Skin Antioxidant Energizing Essence

Serum: The Nue Co’s The Pill

Toner: Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic

Eye Cream: MZ Skin Sooth and Smooth eye cream

Moisturizer: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

The Time Revolution Cleanser has been fantastic. I am reaching the end of the thirty days, and the end of the product as well. My full review of it will be up next week and I suspect I may be able to squeak through the week with the remainder of the cleanser, but certainly by the end of next week i will need to choose a new cleanser for the line up. I really enjoyed using this cleanser. It’s mask like texture was fantastic in letting me know exactly where I had cleansed and it rinsed off clean while leaving my skin refreshed. What more could you really want in a cleanser?

I also only have about a week more of the 111Skin Essence. It too has been fantastic. It not only helped the other products work more efficiently, but it’s scent lent my skincare routine a spa like feel. Great product, great high end scent. I would certainly use this essence again.

The Pill from Nue Co is interesting. It is creamier than I am used to serums being and slightly sticky. Since I put a moisturizer over it, I am not as worried about the stickiness as I would normally be. It is early days yet with this serum so I haven’t really seen any effects, but I am hopeful. I love the shape of the bottle and the pump as they seem really well thought out. It is an easy product to pick up and use even if you have wet hands. Hopefully steady use will produce effects.

I can already see some effects with the MZ Skin eye cream. It is a thick eye cream, but I haven’t had any issues with clogging pores. And I really like the way it absorbs without leaving a greasy film.

The real winner this week is the Embryolisse. Wow. It says Multi use on the label and this week I not only used it as my moisturizer but as a pre makeup base. It made such a huge difference. I was blown away. I have one more week for the full thirty day test of this moisturizer, and then I will be rolling in the next in the Lait-creme line to try out and compare with the first. My plan had been to use up this tube at night while starting to test the next one in the day time, but I think I will only do that for a few days before relocating the remainder of the tube to my makeup kit. Applying that extra hit of moisture and letting it soak in a few minutes before moving on with the rest of my makeup really made a difference. It was simply amazing and I am kind of sad that i didn’t try this multi-use function out prior to this. But I will be using it in the future. I will also be picking up a tube simply to keep with my makeup.

The Nighttime Line Up

Cleanser: Time Revolution Artemisia Pack Foam Cleanser from Missha

Makeup Remover: Vike Makeup Melt Paired with the Makeup Cloths from The Turkish Towel Company (currently on sale on the site)

Essence: 111Skin Antioxidant Energizing Essence

Serum: The Nue Co Topical C

Facial Oil: Annmarie Anti-Aging Facial Oil

Exfoliating Pads: The Somme Institute Transport Exfoliating pads

Eye Cream: MZ Skin Sooth and Smooth eye cream

Moisturizer: Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre

Lips: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in berry

As always some of these are repeats, so we will concentrate on the ones I didn’t use in the morning. I had planned to replace the Vike this week, but somehow never got around to it. I have a Huda Beauty cleansing Balm I want to try out so I will be bringing that out this coming week and setting the Vike to the side. It is a great product and so quick and easy to use. The issue is the scent. it is strong and I kind of need a break from it. But it is good.

I continued adding the Vitamin C powder from the Nue C to my moisturizer this week and I really enjoy it. I add it at night because in the day time Vitamin C can leave me a little sun sensitive. I really like having it in the routine though and I am happy I can add it, and add it in the amounts I want, when I choose to do so.

This week I rolled in the Annmarie Facial Oil to replace the Byroe to see how it worked and I loved it. It worked even better than the Byroe, plus it has that great Annmarie Skincare Herbal scent. I adore the skincare products from Annmarie skincare. They are just so fresh and clean. My all time favorite is their Aloe Herb Cleanser. it smells like Lemon Verbena and I always find myself wanting to pick up a bottle when spring arrives. It just seems like the perfect time for it. But alas, this tine bottle of oil is almost out. I have a couple of more days with it and then I will take out a new facial oil. this is one I will return to in a larger format at some point in the future. As I am working through a backlog of oils that i want to use up, it may take a while but this is one of the few oils that made my repurchase list.

I don’t think I will be repurchasing the Somme exfoliating pads. I do like toner and exfoliating pads and the liquid in this one is fine. It actually works well. The problem is with the pads themselves. They are a thin cotton material that because it is so saturated tend to stick together. Separating them often tears the pad and gets the serum everywhere. I often feel like I’ve exfoliated my hands more than I have my face. and it really is the material of the pads. Getting just one out of the container is difficult. I will keep using them as I like the serum, but I don’t think this is going to be a repeat purchase for me.

It was kind of the hiccup in my week of skin care. Otherwise everything went swimmingly. Next week there will be a new facial oil and new makeup remover. The cleanser and the essence may make it through the week, but I know the cleanser won’t make it beyond. Using it as a day and night time cleanser along with an occasional masking experience used up the tube fast. I don’t mind as it was a fantastic product to use, but I will soon need to find a replacement. As always I will be easing new products in one at a time instead of all at the same time. I find it the best way to keep my skin from freaking out over new products.

So that was me this week. I hope you had as much fun talking about skincare as I did.
