The Skincare Line up: September 10th, 2021

Good morning my darlings! we have made it to the end of the week. This week my skin is feeling much better than it was before, despite a few hormonal break outs. I was able to keep some of my line up as well as add in a few new products. So lets take a look at how this week’s products worked out.

Daytime Skin Care

Deodorant: Native Blackberry and Green Tea Deodorant

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser Pre + Probiotics Greek Yoghurt

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Moisturizer: OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream

Sunscreen: Volition Prismatic Luminizing Shield in SPF 50

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

Okay to be honest, my daytime line up didn’t change. I was planning on changing out the day time moisturizer, but I figured since i changed out the night time one I would leave the OSEA in place this week. It is not my favorite moisturizer, but it isn’t bad. I think it just feels a little heavier on my skin than I like during the day. I’ll end up[ using it as a moisturizer on my hands post wash and sanitation so it won’t go to waste, but something about it does feel a bit heavier.

While I love the Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic acid, I think I want to just use it at night instead of day and night. This week I used it for both and while my skin loved it, I think it might be making me a little bit sun sensitive. I did notice that despite the Volition sunscreen I was getting a bit more red from time outside than i usually do.

The Missha Artemisia helped take that red down a lot and make me feel better, but what’s the old saying – An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I like having something that helps, but I’d rather not need the help. So I am going to roll in a day time serum this coming week and save the Herbal Dynamics for the night time. On the plus side, it may make the serum last longer. I think I have about two more weeks of product left if used that way.

Over all those are my thoughts on the daytime line up. Everything else just worked really well. I keep feeling the ESPA eye cream tube and hoping that the product won’t run out because I am really enjoying it. The Korres Cleanser I am afraid won’t make it much longer. I might be able to use it all week, but I suspect by about Wednesday It too may run out and need to be replaced. It is a fantastic cleanser and one that I will be purchasing repeatedly in the future.

Nighttime Skin Care

Makeup Remover: Makeup Eraser Cloth

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser Pre + Probiotics Greek Yoghurt

Exfoliator: Hey Honey Come Clean Propolis and Minerals Facial Scrub

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Lips: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry

Night Mask: Elemis Peptide 4 Plumping Pillow Facial

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

This week my Peach Pudding Makeup remover ran out and so I replaced it with my Makeup Eraser. That’s it. No product, just the makeup eraser. It worked well. I just used water and took off my makeup with it, It worked well. The Korres took off the rest so there was little makeup remaining.

I did end up using the Hey Honey exfoliator a bit more this week. About three times instead of once a week. It was gentle enough that I could do this, but I really did enjoy the exfoliator as well. I think because I eliminated one cleansing product i automatically reached for a replacement. It felt good though and did help with the remains of the breakouts so my skin is much clearer. Ido want to go back to a once a week exfoliation though.

Even though I really like using my Makeup Eraser, I think I am going to roll in a micellar water or cleansing oil or something. I think I just really like a double clean as well as the cloth.

This week the big new product in the line up was the Elemis pillow facial. I meant to roll it in and just use it a few times a week while choosing a different night cream, but I just ended up using it as a night cream on it’s own. It is fantastic. I love the scent, It is a lightly floral scent that seems strong in the jar but fades pretty quickly once applied. The cream is light, almost like a gel cream consistency and it absorbs really quickly so your face isn’t stuck to the pillowcase. I think because it’s texture reminded me so much of a gel cream I didn’t remember to roll in a different night cream. And to be honest, I am not sure i will bring in a different moisturizer at night. For now this is just the right amount of moisture for my skin just before bed time. I’ll be changing out the day time moisturizer this week, but between the Elemis on my face and the Laneige on my lips, my night time is happily covered.

The Skincare Line up: September 3rd, 2021

Ah yes, this week in skincare. It has been fun. Last week I had quite a massive patch of breakouts on my chin. For me the chin is always the canary in the coal mine for skincare concerns. It gets overly greasy first and it shows dry spots first as well. And last week it was throwing up all sorts of signals. So this week I pulled out the elements that were new in the skincare line up and went solely back to products I knew worked well. And then I played with the products i thought were causing issues.

Surprisingly all of the new products were problematic. I tried the Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle foaming cleanser. While it smelled nice, it didn’t give me a deep down clean and left far too much gunk on my face, which was not good.

The second new skincare item was the Naobay Detox Oxygen light cream. This cream smelled nice, absorbed well but was slightly too heavy for me. It also made my skin feel itchy. In order to see if it was the cream or the cream in conjunction with other products, I used this on my arm for a couple of days. In general I find if I test a product on my inner arm it will give me a good indication of what is going on. My arm was fine for the first day but by day two it was very itchy and I had to stop using the cream on my arm. So this may be a good product, but I think i may just be allergic to something in it. I’m going to have to break down the ingredients list and see if i can figure out what because I didn’t see anything problematic on the label.

One thing that also didn’t help is that last week i was testing out a Vesca primer and it made my skin itchy as well. I tested it on the inside of my other arm and after a few days of repeat use my arm broke out in a small rash.

So at least whatever it is that i am allergic to I am only slightly allergic to or it takes a while to build up to a level my skin doesn’t like. while this ingredient has yet to be identified, I know that all of the products listed below are ones my skin has no issues with and i was thrilled to be able to fall back on them. As always they behaved well and helped me calm my skin down from it’s break out session. Because there is nothing really new, there is minimal break out of the listed products this week. Just know, they all worked like rockstars.

Daytime Skin Care

Deodorant: Native Blackberry and Green Tea Deodorant

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Moisturizer: OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream

Sunscreen: Volition Prismatic Luminizing Shield in SPF 50

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

Yup a return to what I know works. I think the Korres Cleanser needs an extra special shout out though. because of last week’s cleanser, I realized just how fantastic this product was. This will not be my last bottle of the Korres Foaming Cleanser.

Night time Skincare

Makeup Remover: Peach Pudding Makeup Remover

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Moisturizer: OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream

Lips: Laneige Lip Sleeping mask in Berry

Night Mask: Wander Beauty Do not Disturb Overnight repair serum

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

With the night products the only thing to really report is that the Peach pudding makeup Remover and the Wander Beauty Night Mask are both almost empty. I have about one week or so left in the makeup remover and maybe two nights worth of the Wander Beauty do not disturb. Both have been fantastic products to use and I will be sad to see them go. I will definitely pick up the Peach Pudding makeup remover again. It is from Peach and Lily and the only products it had issues with were a few of my mascaras. As my Makeup Eraser took care of any left over mascara I didn’t think it much of a problem. The container cost $9.99 and lasted over a month so there are no complaints there either. in fact because Peach and Lily is having a massive 50% off labor day sale, I might stock up on this now that it is on sale.

the Wander Beauty night mask I would use again as well. They too are having a large labor Day sale if you are interested. I actually have a second container of this mask in my skin care drawer waiting it’s turn to be used so I don’t need to repurchase it anytime soon, however it is one that I will happily use again.

and now that my skin is calming down once again I am looking forward to slowly adding in new products. with luck this time there won’t be any drastic reactions.

The Skincare Line Up: August 27th, 2021

Good morning my darlings it is time for the weekly skincare line up. this week was interesting actually. My plan was to rotate in several new products, many of them sample sizes so that i would have a chance to try them out and decide if i wanted to try out a full sized version before the cyber Monday/Black Friday sales arrive. I know it is hard to think of it when the sun is still beating down as though we are all strips of bacon in a giant frying pan, but soon it will be upon us.

I actually hoped to try out a few new products (or at least new to me) before the labor day sales arrived, but that didn’t go as planned. When I switch out products I like to give them each day or two to settle in before i rotate in another new product. That way I am not freaking my skin out all at once with a completely new line up and if my skin has a reaction I am better able to pin point where the reaction came from. This week I started out by swapping out my cleanser. I Rolled in the blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser from Glow Recipe. I decided at first to use it both morning and evening to see how it felt with out the Korres Cleanser backing it up. Then a couple of days later I added in the NaoBay moisturizer.

Then I woke up with breakouts dotting my chin and my skin feeling really greasy. I pulled both the cleanser an the moisturizer out of the line up and put the Korres and OSEA back in. The OSEA may not be my favorite but I knew I didn’t have any reactions to it and it was there. I’m still trying to figure out what exactly caused the break outs, but for now, both products have been pulled from the line up and I didn’t roll in any additional products. The NaoBay and Glow Recipe are still in the line up below as I did use them. Just know there was a bot of a shake up mid week.

In all fairness to the products in the skincare line up, I did also try out a new primer this week and it might have had some pore clogging issues as well.

Daytime Skin Care

Deodorant: Native Blackberry and Green Tea Deodorant

Cleanser: Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Moisturizer: OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream

Sunscreen: Volition Prismatic Luminizing Shield in SPF 50

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

Okay, this daytime line up didn’t change much from last week, with the exception of the cleanser. I have used the Glow Recipe before and while the Blueberry Bounce wasn’t my favorite, I don’t remember it being this jelly like before. Perhaps it was and it has just been a long time since I used it. The cleanser comes out as a clear jelly. I don’t know how many out there remember the Strawberry Shortcake dolls that came out in the 1980s, but Strawberry Shortcake had a Blueberry Scented friend and this cleanser smells exactly like that doll. It is an artificial blueberry mixed with plastic sort of scent.

It is a bit odd, but to be honest, I kind of liked it.

while it claims to be a make up remover, it did nothing to remove my makeup. I could use the cleanser and anything that simply didn’t rinse off with water showed up on my toner pad. while I have tried this before and had no issues with it, I think that part of the reason for the breakouts might be partially related to not getting my face as clean as i am used to getting it. With the Korres Foaming cleanser I could get most of my makeup off even though it doesn’t claim to be a makeup remover. I still used a makeup remover but after using the Korres there wasn’t a streak of makeup left behind. The Glow Recipe claimed to be a makeup remover, didn’t remove the makeup and even with the separate makeup remover I had product left behind. I think not getting my face as clean might have been a part of this week’s issue. I think the other part was due to the moisturizer, but we’ll get to that in a moment (I put it with the night time skincare).

I hate for a post to be negative, but it really was only that product in the day time skin care that was the issue. Everything else worked fantastically. I’ve also been using many of the products for a while without any issues, so unless there was a product interaction, I think the cleanser might have been a problem.

Nighttime Skin Care

Makeup Remover: Peach Pudding Makeup Cleanser from Peach Slices

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser Pre + Probiotics Greek Yoghurt

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Moisturizer: Naobay Detox Unpolluted Oxygen light cream

Lips: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry

Night Mask: Wander Beauty Do Not Disturb Overnight repair serum

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

Hey Honey Come Clean Propolis and Minerals Facial Scrub

There were a couple of changes here. I’ll start off with the Naobay. I started out using this moisturizer in both the day and evening. Despite the term light in the name, it is a thick cream and only a miniscule amount of product was needed. It took a long time to absorb into my skin and quite frankly left me feeling a bit on the greasy side. It also has a scent that is not unlike Play-doh. I suspect that it might not have been just the cleanser or the moisturizer that was to blame but a combination of the two. I don’t think I had an actual reaction to the products, but I think the not as cleansed as usual combined with the heavier than expected moisturizer did a tag team on my skin. My chin tends to be more oily than the rest of my face so it is sort of the canary in the coal mine reaction point for skin care. If my chin breaks out, i cease using the products and look into what is going on before it spreads. My plan is to spend the next week using products I know I work well with and get my skin back into good condition. Once in good shape, I’ll start rolling new samples to test back in. After all there is no reason to set a product up for failure by having something new deal with upset skin.

I did successfully trade out my lip mask this week. I opened the Laneige Lip Sleeping mask. *I have used it before and it was just as fabulous as it has been in the past. Just a little product on the adorable little spatula is all yu need and the next morning my sun dried lips were soft and fabulous. The last time i tried this I also tried the berry scent out as well. I would like to branch out and try more scents but that will take a while as I will be using this jar for a really long time.

Also this week there is no other skincare, just the addition of the Hey Honey exfoliator to the list of night time products. I finished the Ole Henricksen mask this week (review up next week) and I decided to just add the Hey honey exfoliator to the night instead of having it stand on it’s own. I only used it once this week and I really enjoyed it, as i always do. It is a nice formula that isn’t too harsh and smells yummy.

Everything else in my Night time line up worked like a champ. i have no complaints about it. Admittedly I spent most of my time thinking about the products causing issues this week. Over the weekend I am going to do a deep ingredient dive and try to find out if there was an ingredient that irritated the skin or if it was just greasy clogged pores. All I know is that this coming week, I am going to focus on some familiar favorites as incoming products in order to clear up my skin and make it happy once again.

The Skincare Line Up: August 20th, 2021

It is time once again for my favorite post of the week.  The skincare line up.  I love the chance to talk about skincare.  I think that is why I have such an elaborate line up.  There are so many products out there that I just want to try. Plus, I love putting the claims that companies make for their products to the test.  Admittedly I always feel bad when I have to report in that the products didn’t come up to the mark.  On the other hand I always feel happy when they do exactly what they claim to do.  And when they exceed expectations I really want to give them a gold star. So shall we see if there are any gold stars in this week’s line up?

Daytime Skin Care

Deodorant: Native Blackberry and Green Tea Deodorant

Cleanser: Andalou Apricot Probiotic Cleansing Milk

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Byroe Bell Pepper Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Moisturizer: OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream

Sunscreen: Volition Prizmatic Luminizing Shield in SPF 50

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

Okay, starting at the top, the Native Deodorant performed well.  It wasn’t put to too much of a test this week as I did not sweat it out in the walking trail, but as it performed well last week in the brutal sun and humidity I am still pleased with it. The scent is nice if you sniff the actual product.  It disappears once the deodorant is on.  Which is a little sad as I like the scent.  But I suppose if I went around smelling of blackberries I’d attract bees. So for those out there who are super sensitive to scent, this one might be for you.

This week I again used the sample of the Andalou Cleansing milk in the morning, keeping my Korres for night time. The sample is almost empty though.  I will be using the last of it tomorrow morning.  It is a nice cleanser.  It has very little scent to it.  It is a bit of a loose formula as it is a cleansing milk rather than a cream.  It isn’t liquid though.  It actually reminds me of whipping cream when you’ve whipped it to soft peaks rather than stiff ones. It is a good light cleanser and I could definitely see myself picking it up in the store to use again.

The Murad toner worked well. It is actually one of my favorite Murad products.  It takes off the remnants of anything on my skin, but doesn’t strip the skin or cause me any problems really.  It just quietly and effectively does its job, which is toning. And of course when used in the evening it is the ever present judge where the makeup remover is concerned.  Have you done your job?  The toner will tell.  Or at least the round that I am using with the toner will tell.

Currently I am using the Magnitone reusable rounds and they are performing really well.  They also wash well.  I have been using the mesh bag that came in July’s Birchbox to wash them.  I put the used rounds as well as my makeup sponges in the bag and chuck it in the wash. The bag keeps any stray hair or lint from getting on the sponge and rounds and they come out fabulously clean.

But that’s a bit off topic.

The Time Revolution is still one of my gold star products.  This week it was just used as an essence.  I didn’t spend any excess time in the sun, mostly because there wasn’t any sun. So I didn’t need the essence as a recovery mask.  Although really, soaking a couple of rounds with the essence and laying them on the over exposed skin to calm down any red spots and irritation is now my favorite trick.

To be honest, I am not really seeing the effects of the Byroe Serum.  It feels good on the skin and I want it to be an effective part of my regime, mostly because I absolutely adore Byroe’s toning essence.  That is a product I will buy repeatedly.  This Bell Pepper serum isn’t really doing much.  I actually took it out of rotation for a couple of days to see if my skin felt the lack and there was no difference.  I think I might rotate it out and give another serum a try next week.  I still have several sample sized serums I would like to try out (especially before we get around the the Black Friday Sales) so that I can see if a full size might be something I want to purchase.

The ESPA Eye cream I really like.  I can see it plumping up many of my fine lines now and I am still not at the thirty day mark in terms of use.  It is a sample sized tube and I have already marked it down for a full sized purchase.  It is eye cream though and so little is actually needed that the sample tube will last for quite a while. Which, as far as I am concerned, is a good thing.

The OSEA moisturizer is still an okay product.  It isn’t my favorite, but it isn’t bad.  When thinking about what to say about it, by first thoughts are.  The bottle is very pretty glass and the pump works really well. Which, while nice, shouldn’t be the first things that you think about when you think of a moisturizer.  It isn’t a bad product.  It absorbs well and isn’t greasy. It just feels like the basic version of a moisturizer. There is no ‘special feel’ to it.  I think using the Olay Regenerist moisturizer sample at night last week really threw it into perspective.  The Olay was fantastic and I was very sad when the sample was used up. However it’s fantastic-ness really showed the OSEA up as just basic. For now I am going to continue using it, but I will not be upset when it rolls out of the line up and I won’t be repurchasing it.  I will pick up the OSEA Cleanser as it was fantastic, but the moisturizer doesn’t make the list.

Since I knew this was going to be a mostly indoor sort of week, I didn’t roll a sample sunscreen in to try but stuck with my tried and true Volition.  Because even if I wasn’t spending a lot of time outside, I was spending some and it is now habit to apply sunscreen at the end of my morning skincare line up.

As for the Crest Deep Clean, I’m pretty sure this is going to be my go too toothpaste for a while.  My mouth feels really clean after I use it and my gums look really healthy.  They weren’t horrible before, but they just look very healthy now.  So I am happy.  And as it was the toothpaste my dentist recommended, I’m sure he’s happy too.

Nighttime Skin Care

Makeup Remover: Peach Pudding Makeup Cleanser from Peach Slices

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser Pre + Probiotics Greek Yoghurt

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Moisturizer: OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream

Lips: Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask (in Maple), no lip scrub

Night Mask: Wander Beauty Do Not Disturb Overnight repair serum

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

For the most part, this week had a lot of overlap between the day and night as I didn’t add in any sample products.  Since the ones I used in the daytime performed exactly the same at night, I’ll just skip the duplicates.

The Peach Pudding makeup cleanser is nice and took my makeup off well.  It isn’t the best with mascara and the eyeshadow I used this week had some serious skin staining properties, but over all no real complaints.  I went in with my Makeup Eraser on the mascara and all was good. It is a good product I would definitely repurchase.

The Korres Cleanser also falls into the repurchase category.  It smells clean and fresh and my skin feels clean and fresh once I have used it.  There is no stripping of the skin and no residue left behind.  I really like that it is a thick cream.  It sounds a little silly, but that does make it a bit easier to use. There are less drips. I just damp my face down, dispense some of the cleanser and apply it, the cleanser stays on the face without dripping down. I can rub it as though it was a cream without making a mess. As more water is added it foams up and then it rinses away clean in a foaming mass. The more I use this cleanser, the more I like it.

That also holds true for the Herbal Dynamics Beauty serum. This is the second bottle of this I have gone through and it is definitely a repeat purchase. I have a line in my forehead that (let’s face it) is not really going anywhere. I affectionately refer to it as my stress crack. Over the past year and a half it deepened considerably. It won’t disappear, but with the serum it is looking more like a line rather than a canyon. There is certainly less depth to it, which I love. This is on a repeat buy list and will remain there for a while.

The Bite Beauty lip mask is a standard. I have in fact forgotten how many times I have repurchased this. It is a very thick formula and you have to work a bit to get it to squeeze out of the tube, but it is worth it. This is a formula you can apply at night and really let it sink in. It has the thickness of petroleum jelly. And the one I have smells like Maple Syrup. It is especially useful in the winter. Recently I received a Leniege Lip Mask in my IPSY Glam Bag X and I will be rolling that into my line up this week to give it a try. The Bite Beauty mask will come back, but for now I want to try something a little different.

In other skincare

Ole Henriksen Phat Glow Facial

Hey Honey Come Clean Propolis and Minerals Facial Scrub

To be honest I thought that this would only be a one product line up for other skincare this week. I thought the exfoliator would stand alone. The Hey Honey exfoliator is a once a week use product and I will happily use it once a week and then reorder. There is very little from the brand Hey Honey that I don’t like actually. Their products and my skin just get along really well. With both skincare and makeup actually. Their Trick or Treat CC cream is really quite nice to wear.

But that is a different post.

I enjoy exfoliators, both chemical and physical. The physical ones I try not to use too often. Once a week is generally about my cap for them. This is gentle enough that when I did need an extra scrub I could roll it into a second day of use in the week without causing my skin damage which I like. This is definitely a scrub I will reorder.

The reason I thought it would stand alone is that I thought I was almost out of product in the Phat Glow Facial. I have been using it twice a week. My skin feels clear and clean. I am actually quite a fan of the mask. The container drives me batty though. That pump is just kind of a pain to use. But the product is good. I had enough for the week and surprisingly there is still product left in the container. I really have to work to get it out because the pump gets stiffer with every use, but I think I might just be able to get through one more week of use. Which makes me happy. It is after all, a really good mask.

So that is the list for the week. the products used throughout my skincare routine, both night and day and sometimes only a few days a week. My skin has mostly recovered from the greasy sunscreen breakouts (Supergoop and I didn’t get along) and I am feeling quite good in my skin actually. Its a nice feeling. I know it helps me out to look at what I am using and how i feel about it. I hope it helps you out as well as you think about products that you want to use. Next week there will be some samples rolling through as well as a couple of full sized products. So changes are coming to the line up. Stay tuned.

The Skincare Line Up: August 6th, 2021

Ah Friday, the day I look pack on all of the skincare products used throughout the week and take a moment to decide how I feel about them. Any product I use for more than thirty days gets it’s own full length post, but I like to take a weekly peep at the line up, just to check in and see how I feel about things. I generally find it helps to assess the products and how i feel about them even if it is too early for some of them to show legitimate results. So without further ado, lets start with the day time line up, shall we?

Daytime Skin Care

Deodorant: Dove O% Deodorant

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser Pre + Probiotics Greek Yoghurt

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Byroe Bell Pepper Serum

Eye Cream: ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturizer

Moisturizer: OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream

Sunscreen: Volition Prismatic Luminizing Shield in SPF 50

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

I had planned to rotate another of the small samples of cleanser I want to try out into my skincare line up this week, but completely forgot. So I used the Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser in both the morning and evening. It’s not really much of a hardship as it is a nice cleanser. I really like the fresh scent and feel to it. I expected it to have more of a dairy like scent to it as it is from their Yoghurt line and the mask I have from that line does have a very distinct yoghurt note to the scent. It doesn’t though, it just smells really clean and fresh. You know I really liked the Korres mask. I may actually end up using that this afternoon. But that is another topic.

The Time Revolution Artemisia Essence came in very handy yesterday actually. Well it has been good all summer really, but yesterday after spending a large chunk of the day fighting with the computer I really needed to just step away for a bit. I was planning to go to the gym, but my neighbor’s house just sold and the new owners are doing renovations. They have been really nice and considerate about things but at the moment one of their vehicles was blocking our drive. So I went on a walk instead. A very long walk.

And so I ended up spending a bit too much time in the sun and had to do a little soothing before bed time. I think the soothing helped more than my skin.

After two weeks with the ESPA eye cream, I am starting to really like it. It is a bit premature to say I see signs of effects, but it absorbs quickly and smoothly and hasn’t clogged the pores. For me the area around my orbital bone tends to get clogged pores more often than most of the rest of my skin so I am really careful about the products I use around my eyes. The ESPA Cream hasn’t clogged anything and feels really good on my skin. I know I won’t see any real results for about thirty days. Skin care isn’t magic after all, but I have my fingers crossed that there will be results as I like this cream. (I also took pictures to compare after thirty days.)

The OSEA Moisturizer is nice. I don’t really like the scent all that much, but the moisturizer is working really well. Two pumps covers my face and neck. I like that it is in a glass bottle with a pump as it keeps the product from becoming contaminated. If it weren’t for the scent I would really enjoy the moisturizer as it is a good product. It isn’t a bad scent. It is vaguely seaweed-y. I like the product enough that I can get used to the scent. And if another bottle appeared, I would still use it, but because of the scent I might not seek it out. I will keep using it though and perhaps it will grow on me. I also forgot to bring out another sample tube of sunscreen so I went back to my tried and true Volition Sunscreen. For those of you who like mineral sunscreen, they actually just released a mineral version of this sunscreen. I love this formula, but I also tend to like mineral sunscreens as they tend to leave less of a white cast on the skin. The last time I ordered my sunscreen I ordered a couple of bottles. So I want to work through them before I order new, but I think I may try out the mineral version next time I order sunscreen from Volition.

Nighttime Skin Care

Makeup Remover: Peach Pudding Makeup Cleanser from Peach Slices

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser Pre + Probiotics Greek Yoghurt

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Eye Cream: Elemis Pro-Collagen Eye Revive Mask

Moisturizer: Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer

Lips: Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask (in Maple), no lip scrub

Night Mask: Wander Beauty Do Not Disturb Overnight repair serum

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

Most of these products I have talked about repeatedly. Don’t worry there will be some changes soon. For the most part I am very happy with the way the products are performing. The one product that I am not too fond of is the moisturizer. The Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer is just not working for me.

I had to stop using it during the day because it was just too much for my skin at this time of year and I think it may be even too much at night. Even though I list the Wander Beauty Night mask in my products, I didn’t actually use it this week because the Air Repair so over moisturized me that it would be madness to try and add it on top. I’ll have a full post on it up next week, but I just think this moisturizer isn’t for me. I tried a sample a while back and thought it worked pretty well, but this full size is just not working out. I will be taking it out of the rotation and rolling a different product in for this upcoming week.

While all of the other products worked well for me this week I have to say my star product is the Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean Toothpaste. I know that sounds strange to say, but my teeth feel fantastically clean. I don’t know what it is about the formula, but I really like it. Part is the taste I suppose. It is more peppermint than spearmint and I am a peppermint kind of person. But my mouth does feel fantastically clean. So Crest gets a gold star this week.

Ole Henriksen Phat Glow Facial

Hey Honey Come Clean Propolis and Minerals Facial Scrub

Both of these products I like. The Ole Henriksen Glow Facial is being used twice a week and the hey Honey Come Clean is being used once a week. The products are both fabulous and I will repurchase both in the future. With the Phat Glow Facial, I have to say, that pump is not my friend. Each use makes it stiffer and harder to use. I think I might actually be nearing the end of the product so that might explain part of it. The mask is just so thick that I don’t think it likes the pump format. I appreciate why the pump is being used (to keep air out of the product and keep it fresh) but I’m not so sure it works. I like the mask though and am willing to struggle with the pump in order to use the mask, so that is something.

I have a hard time not reaching for the Hey Honey more than once a week. I really only need a physical exfoliator once a week at most so i know I shouldn’t but the scrub always leaves my skin feeling so fantastically soft that I have a hard time not reaching for it on a daily basis. it is too much of an exfoliant to be used daily, and I know that which is why I restrict myself. I don’t want to over exfoliate and cause more issues to my skin, but it is a really nice product.

And that is it for my skincare this week. The good, the not so great and the soon to be replaced. At the moment things are working well for me in the skin department. There are a couple of small breakouts on my chin, but part of that is hormonal and pat of it is that I tend to lean on my hand during editing so you can actually see where I spent a lot of time with my hand on my face. Don’t you just love when you know that you are actually the source of your own issues? But soon this round of editing will be done and the hand will leave the chin.

The Skincare Line Up: July 30th, 2021

The full line up of products

This week was an interesting one with my skincare line up.  I made a few changes, some planned and some just sort of happened.  Part of the change is due to weather and my time spent outside.  I’ve been limiting it more this week than I have before so things have been adjusting. Shall we take a deeper look?

The Day time Products

Cleanser: Balance Me Pre and Probiotic Cleansing Milk

Sunscreen: Coola Sun Silk Drops Sunscreen

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

Okay, let’s talk about the changes. First up is the deodorant. Put simply I ran out of my Naticve deodorant.  I made a note to pick up a new one and then forgot.  So I ended up with the Dove 0% deodorant.  It is free of many of the same things that Native is free of.  And I usually like dove antiperspirant.  So it was a bit of a no brainer. I was prepared for the sweat.  I was not prepared for the stink.  I was a bit stinkier than I liked this week.  I will concede that this was a brutal heat week so it does push most products to the breaking point.  The stink wasn’t bad, at least no one remarked on it.  But I was not a fan.  And actually on the day when I did have my big meeting, I went with the Dove Antiperspirant I have as back up.   Think I am going to try using the Dove when I am working inside and use the antiperspirant at the gym, at least until I’ve used up more product.  I just don’t like wasting product.  However I doubt I will get through this product and   I certainly won’t be picking it up again.  I love Dove, but this one was a fail for me.

Also a fail, the Balance Me Cleansing Milk.  It works well but it is like washing your face with furniture polish.  Using I, I found myself thinking of reasons to not wash my face.  Finally I just gave in and went back to using the Korres.  (it is listed in the night time line up.  So at least I was washing my face at night).  I love the thought behind the Balance Me products and when I use them they work really well.  I just can’t take the scent for most of them.  A couple of their serums I can push past the scent and use anyway.  This cleanser is not one of them.  I do not like it and to be honest, I will not be finishing the sample.  I am done with it and it will not return.

Don’t worry, everything is more positive from here on out.  I decided that I would use the Elemis eye mask at night, but that I would rotate in some of my eye cream samples for day time use.  Even though they are small, I use so little eye cream each day that it takes forever just to get through a sample size.  Which is fine, I actually like that kind of value in a product.  However I do have a substantial pile of eye cream samples I need to work on using up.  Since the Elemis is a large jar (no complaints, it is a fabulous product and I’m glad I get to use it a long time.) I will be spending a log time working through it.  So I’ll use it at night and try other things in the day.

The current sample is an ESPA product.  (They have a big sale on now if anyone is interested, the link will take you to it).  I really enjoy ESPA products but I have to admit, I have mostly used their Hair products.  (Highly recommend their Pink Mud Scalp mask).  This eye cream is proving just as good as their hair care products.  I am very much enjoying it.  The sample tube is a pretty full one so I think it will last long enough for me to get a really good impression of the product.  For the moment, my first impressions are really positive.

The moisturizer I am currently using as my day cream is the OSEA Atmosphere Protection cream.  I rotated it in because the Air repair moisturizer was just too thick and heavy a cream for me to use during the day.  This is much lighter and my skin seems really happy with the change.  This is my first OSEA moisturizer actually.  Generally if I am purchasing an OSEA product it is their cleanser. It smells exactly like a lemon lime slush from Sonic, and works fantastically.  I’m hoping this moisturizer, despite not smelling quite as yummy as the cleanser, will work just as well.  OSEA is a great natural brand and I love that their products come in beautiful frosted glass bottles.  The frosted protects the cream as well as looking pretty and the glass just feels super lux.

The rest of the products in the lineup are continuations and I am quite pleased with how they are working out.  This morning I used the very last drop of the Coola Silk Serum Sunscreen and am very sad that it is now empty.  I will be putting it on the repurchase list as I really enjoyed it. It absorbed well without breaking me out and prevented sun damage.  It was a great sunscreen.  I have a couple of other sample sunscreens to try out so hopefully they will work just as well.

The Nighttime Line up

Nighttime Skin Care

Makeup Remover: Peach Pudding Makeup Cleanser from Peach Slices

Cleanser: Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser Pre + Probiotics Greek Yoghurt

Toner: Murad Hydrating Toner

Essence: Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence from Missha (Gifted by brand)

Serum: Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid62% Hydrating Serum

Moisturizer: Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer

Lips: Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask (in Maple), no lip scrub

Night Mask: Wander Beauty Do Not Disturb Overnight repair serum

Toothpaste: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean

There is only one change to the night time line up and that is the addition of the Herbal Dynamics Beauty Hyaluronic Acid Serum.  I tried it a while ago when the brand sent it over in a package.  I used every last drop, loved it, put it on my repurchase list and have now in fact repurchased it.  It is a fantastic serum.  I’ve noticed more lines appearing due to both time and more time spent in the sun so it is time to call in the big guns.  Yup, Hyaluronic acid. My skin responds really well to it and so I have added it back in.  I love that one pump gives me enough product to cover my entire face.  A second pump covers my neck and upper chest.  Since I have finished up my latest bottle of the Dermelect Self-esteem Serum, I will be using this on both the face and neck.  Both sections of skin need all the help they can get.  The serum looks like clear water, but comes out as a gel like consistency and is less runny than a lot of serums.  It also absorbs fairly quickly which also makes me happy.  It is early days with this serum, but I have used it before and the last bottle worked fabulously, so I am happy to trust a second one will work just as well. Plus it is nice to actually order something from my reordering list.

Used but not daily

Ole Henriksen Phat Glow Facial

Hey Honey Come Clean Propolis and Minerals Facial Scrub

In other skin care this week I am still using the Phat Glow Facial twice a week.  The product is still fabulous but that pump is going to drive me bonkers.  The lower the product level drops in the container the stiffer the pump is and the harder I have to work to get the product out.  Has anyone else had this problem?  I went looking on line but all I could find were raves about the product.  Which admittedly, the product is quite fabulous.  I just wonder if I got a faulty pump since no one else is mentioning it. So use is continuing, product fabulous, packaging needs work.

In addition this week I have an exfoliator I have added to the list of products.  I know, there are chemical exfoliates in the Ole Henricksen, but this is a physical exfoliator.  It is a gentle one.  I don’t use a lot of physical exfoliators, but I do like using them on occasion.  This one is gentle enough that I have no problem incorporating it into my routine.  I love the brand Hey Honey.  Their Good Morning Honey Silk Serum is one I fell in love with a long time ago.  I actually have a backup in my skin care drawer waiting until I have cleared out a few of the products I haven’t tried before.  As soon as I feel I’ve tried enough new, I will break it out.  Actually I have quite a few sample sized moisturizers as well as masks from Hey Honey that I might rotate into use soon.  But that is another story.  I opened this Come Clean Exfoliating scrub because after the deep pore cleans from Go-to Skincare’s The Removalist Mask I wanted a physical exfoliator.  I used it as an excuse to open this one.

And I am not sorry at all.  It smells like fruit and nearly good enough to eat.  Don’t worry, I won’t be eating it.  Only a little bit of product is needed to get a fantastic clean and it feels wonderful on the skin.  The package recommends applying it and then wetting the skin for a better clean.  I found the formula just a little too stiff for me to enjoy that, so I wet my face first (just a little) and then applied the product worked it in and then added more water.  The little bit of water on the damp skin really helps it to get going and then more water activates it more fully.  Since it is now open, I will be using this once a week.  Which trust me, isn’t a hardship.  I could probably get away with using it more often, but with the Ole Henriksen mask working with chemical exfoliates, I think caution is in order.  So The Phat Glow Facial is Tuesday and Thursday and the Hey Honey come Clean is a Saturday use product.  I feel this gives me enough space between product usage so I am not over doing it, but still enough that the products do what they are supposed to do. And again, I am always happy to have Hey Honey back on my list of products in use.

Cleaning up with the OSEA Ocean Cleanser

The OSEA Ocean Cleanser is one of those cleaners that I have tried several times before, but always in the trial size.  I’ll go ahead and tell you, I absolutely love this cleanser.  I do however have a little amusement where it is concerned.  But before we get to that, let me cover what it is that this cleanser is according to the product page.

Look like a morning person with this seaweed cleansing gel. Vegan Lactic Acid gently resurfaces complexion for clear, radiant skin. Removes impurities while protecting skin’s natural moisture barrier. Formulated with a plant-based probiotic and pH balanced.

Ingredients: Aqua, Algae Extract*, Decyl Glucoside, Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acids, Sorbitan Olivate, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate (Natural Smectite Clay), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil*, Juniperus Communis (Juniper) Fruit Oil*, Cupressus Sempervirens (Cypress) Seed Oil*, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Oil*, Lactic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Glycine, Potassium Sorbate, Chlorophyll – * denotes organic ingredients

OSEA

Okay when you read through this, the cleanser looks like a serious and seriously healthy cleanser.  It comes in a lovely glass bottle (even in the travel size.)  It looks expensive and spa like.  When you pick it up you read through every thing and you feel good about the product.  No animals were injured, plants are all organic.  It is a cleaner that makes you feel like a grown up, eco conscious ‘good person’ just for having in your bathroom.

Then you use it.

You know what it smells like?

Limeade.

Seriously, it smells exactly like the syrup they use in the Sonic Limeades. I don’t know why that tickles me so much.  It does though.  I think because it looks so serious and everything on the site is so serious. It is clearly marked as a good for you product (which it is).  And the bottle is really pretty frosted glass.  Don’t get me wrong I really like looking at it on my bathroom sink.  I love using it and at some point I am going to spend the $48 for the full sized bottle.

It is a seriously good cleanser.  I love the way it makes my skin feel.  Again, I am not certain how beneficial the ingredients are as they aren’t really on the skin a long time, but there are no ingredients that are potentially damaging, to either me or the rest of the world, it cleans the skin without stripping it and after washing my face I want to walk around without anything else on my skin for a little while.  I have never had a problem with clogged pores while using it and my toner pads tend to be a bit less gunky with left behind makeup residue after using it.

Foamy on the face

When I get this cleanser I tend to use it at night for just that reason.  I wash my face and then just sort of hang out with a book and bare skin before later applying my night time serums and moisturizers because I really like the way my skin feels when I use this cleanser. It isn’t super foaming, but it does foam up somewhat and it gets the skin clean.

But as serious a product as it is, it smells like limeade. The scent doesn’t linger, but it does make me smile every time I use this cleanser. I think it is because a Sonic Limeade is not what I consider a healthy, all natural product, where as this is. I would recommend this <a href="http://<a href="https://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=hHyMhrojQEw&offerid=838904.50&subid=0&type=4"><IMG border="0" alt="Target advanced signs of aging on the neck with SkinCeuticals Tripeptide-R Neck Repair. It is one of those products that consistently makes my hits list.  If you are looking for a spurge sort of cleanser, this is the one I would go for.
